I'd be willing to bet that guy does not pull for unc-ch football.
3/29/2012 6:55:53 PM
jesus I can't stand their "I won't pull for a losing team" mentality, I wish the worst for them
3/29/2012 7:02:36 PM
^ this is the epitome of why I hate carolina fans.
3/29/2012 7:34:34 PM
they got no gumption
3/29/2012 8:36:07 PM
If only their fans could handle adversity as admirably as their basketball and football teams.
3/29/2012 8:51:20 PM
those faggots couldn't last a day as a state fan...let alone an entire season.

3/31/2012 5:32:01 PM
Actually. Roy does deserve this. I mean. He's the one that recruited these players.
3/31/2012 7:11:03 PM
^^ UNC fans are mostly just obnoxious, and there are even a fair number of reasonable ones out there.Duke and Maryland fans go out of their way to be offensive, and I can count the number of reasonable ones I've known on one hand.

From an IC thread about Kentucky:
4/3/2012 4:59:27 PM
lol, I can't stand this ideology that its wrong to leave college to make crazy amounts of money and they wouldn't bat an eye if a musician or artist did the same thing.
4/3/2012 5:02:33 PM
^Or a techie...
4/3/2012 5:06:38 PM
exactly. calipari does a great job of selling these kids on what they want, which is to get to the nba...calipari can get them there and he does a great job of winning with that type of player. it's just a different approach.

I for one, think KY makes things go much smoother
4/4/2012 9:11:20 AM
^^^^Yup. Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg should have finished college, and not left early to go pro in building multi-billion dollar corporations!
4/4/2012 9:50:33 AM
well, in regards to geniuses like bill gates, there is a slight difference in that the athletes are relying on their physical abilities to make the millions, which could be taken away at any time, and they'd have nothing to fall back on (except hopefully with the millions they'd saved, they'd have plenty of time and resources to go back and get a degee)
4/4/2012 9:55:13 AM
Yes, Bill Gates definitely couldn't have been disabled in some sort of accidentOnly basketball players
4/4/2012 10:02:36 AM
^^ do you ever listen to some of these guys tv interviews? you think they are going to speak any clearer during a job interview? i dont think so.
4/4/2012 10:07:14 AM
ernie comes back to argue.it's a stupid stupid argument, but a physical accident would hurt an athlete's career much more than a computer programmer's career. If Gates had a physical accident, he'd still have his money-making brain. Stephen Hawking does pretty well with his physical disability, but he'd make a lousy pro athlete. You see my point, don't argue it.[Edited on April 4, 2012 at 10:12 AM. Reason : ^i'm not necessarily talking about the ones who don't know how to read]

4/4/2012 10:12:40 AM
i'm not necessarily talking about the ones who don't know how to read. like almost any general statement, it doesn't apply to every single person. i realize that many athletes wouldn't benefit from finishing a degree. i'm talking about the ones who could actually have a career in something other than sports. i didn't think i had to type that out, i figured people would understand that i'm speaking in generalities.

4/4/2012 10:45:42 AM
4/4/2012 11:50:51 AM
a genius could also hurt his brain in many ways so... if you can make the loot, you go early, either you start a facebook or you declare early for the NBA/NFL/NHL/MLB/MLS/PBR etc.
4/4/2012 11:58:51 AM
This is such a dumb argumentBody guy hurts his body, loses incomeBrain guy hurts his brain, loses incomeYou going to break out Bill Gates' vertical next? What's his 40-time, chief?
4/4/2012 12:49:53 PM
I doubt a genius is going to fucking hurt his brain while doing his job, though.YOU KNOW, HOW UNPAID ATHLETES INJURE THEIR BODIES WHILE PLAYING THEIR SPORT[Edited on April 4, 2012 at 12:54 PM. Reason : ]
4/4/2012 12:54:06 PM
holy shit this is stupid. the point was:Gates would have gained nothing by finishing college and earning a degree. If he hurts his body, he's still making money. Some athletes may gain something earninga degree. If they hurt their body, they'll have the degree to fall back on to make money Both Gates and Athletes are screwed if they hurt their brain. Only athletes are screwed if they hurt their body (and don't have an education).edit: for the record, never said that athletes shouldn't leave if they're guaranteed millions in the nba (they can come back and get their degree at anytime). i was only saying, as i stated in my first post, that Gates dropping out of college and athletes leaving early are different situations.[Edited on April 4, 2012 at 1:05 PM.
