aimorris..... u Fernando Torres mad?
1/29/2011 4:20:35 PM
nah I was shocked he didn't try to force a move when Rafa left. The timing is a bit odd and I'm not sure why he'd rather be at Chelsea now than at City last summer, but whatever, he should be on a team challenging for titles and playing CLI looked but I couldn't find my post (maybe I didn't have one) about how even though it would suck, Liverpool really need to get rid of Gerrard/Torres to get money and rebuild
1/29/2011 9:55:52 PM
he's hurt all the time, might as well get as much money for him and rebuild. i think suarez could at least 10 goals pretty easily, which is about what torres had the first half of the season. have fun with n'gog as your other starting striker though.
1/29/2011 10:01:27 PM
yeah to be honest, I'm not sure Chelsea aren't pushing for a dud here. There's the argument to be made that players break down under Rafa, as evidenced by almost every single vital player at Inter coming down with a serious injury during his time there. That being said, Torres hasn't been hurt that much this year, just ineffective. I also don't remember him being that fragile at Atletico Madrid. But really I just don't know that Torres has "got it" anymore, based off of his performances (or lack thereof) for the past year and a half.
1/30/2011 9:21:57 AM
lol city..
1/30/2011 11:04:40 AM
bet we won't hear much from heelfan today.
1/30/2011 11:23:35 AM
nah we will. arsenal won, and remember hes a tottenham fan too and they will probably win. plus i think i remember him saying he liked real madrid, bayern munich, barcelona, paris st. germain, ac milan, and boca juniors too. he'll have something to say for his favorite teams

1/30/2011 11:40:51 AM

Just turned on the Spurs game. What was in their black pudding, Ribs?
1/30/2011 12:52:09 PM
Dawson was the catalyst for 2 conceded penalties in the first 12 minutes of the match. It's been downhill since.[Edited on January 30, 2011 at 12:59 PM. Reason : he was sent off for the 2nd]
1/30/2011 12:58:53 PM
at least they'll have more time to focus on beating the Rossoneri
1/30/2011 1:11:06 PM
holy shit, Liverpool made a 30m offer for Carroll this morningif Torres has to go, I will gladly take Suarez/Carroll to replace him.
1/31/2011 8:04:26 AM
BBC Sport is reporting the 30 mil offer has been rejected.
1/31/2011 8:22:59 AM
yeah, Newcastle want 35I was just holy shitting the fact they actually made the offer in the first place
1/31/2011 8:33:40 AM
well if they're going to make that much bank off of Torres, why not?Torres just left training in a helicopter. I think it's pretty funny he wants to go to Chelski, though.... what a team full of also-rans
1/31/2011 8:48:21 AM
guess it's just odd to see my team spend and offer a combined 50m+ in a week's time. doesn't happen too oftenI think the price for Carroll is a bit much though
1/31/2011 9:00:03 AM
of course it isJanuary buys are ALWAYS panic buys, and the prices are always adjusted for that
1/31/2011 9:57:04 AM
looks like they've agreed to 35I guess that means Torres is gone. Goodnight sweet El Nino prince.
1/31/2011 10:04:18 AM
from the guardian's live blog:
1/31/2011 10:36:55 AM
haha, it's insane money and I know there will be jokes about how much he costs compared to other playersbut if they sat back and let Torres leave without doing anything, they'd look like bitches and everybody would be talking about how they're doomed
1/31/2011 10:54:52 AM
35 for Carroll is silly money, but then again, so is 50 for Torres which apparently is what Chelsea are paying
1/31/2011 12:28:05 PM
This is absolutely nuts. Supposedly we just bought Charlie Adam too.
1/31/2011 12:35:25 PM
I think Liverpool is the wrong club for Adam, but oh wellI'm stoked about this Carroll move thoughTorres/Babel into Carroll/Suarez/Adam. Looks like a good transfer window to me[Edited on January 31, 2011 at 12:49 PM. Reason : .]

35 mil for Carroll just accepted by Newcastle, so it seems like a done deal at this point. It's crazy money, but he's still pretty young and seems to be getting better month by month. At this point Liverpool have to sell Torres and it would seem by spending so much on Carroll before inking the Torres deal they have have no room to negotiate for more for him (which may not matter, it could already be a done deal and just not announced yet). This should make for some interesting 2nd half action in the EPL. I wonder if Newcastle can stay up since Carroll was a huge reason they earned promotion and have stayed mid-table. Also curious to see if Suarez and Carroll can team up to bring Liverpool into Europa Cup range (or Torres do anything at Chelsea to help their chances at CL next season).
1/31/2011 1:28:59 PM
what is AC's injury status? I thought he was out for 3 months with a torn thigh muscle.
1/31/2011 1:32:46 PM
nah, I think he was originally supposed to be back around this time but it'll be a couple more weeks because it's taking longer to heal
1/31/2011 1:36:39 PM
woww I'll really miss Carroll, and I know the money won't be spent wisely, if at allbut that's a lot of dough.
1/31/2011 3:06:44 PM
torres deal is good for pool, 45 mil and add ons is a lot of money. but 35 mil seems like an awful lot for andy carroll. i feel like they could've gotten 2 players as good as andy carroll for that kind of money.
1/31/2011 3:06:46 PM
I really like the Carroll/Suarez pairing. I think they'll play well off each other. Liverpool are wheelin and dealin.25m or whatever for Bent seems like a steal now.
1/31/2011 3:14:34 PM
and 8 mil for van der vaart seems even more insane
1/31/2011 3:20:34 PM
Yeah. That's been hands down the best signing of the season.

Freddy Adu to some 2nd division Turkish club, lulz
1/31/2011 3:41:16 PM
Why doesn't he just come back to MLS already?
1/31/2011 3:44:32 PM
Aguero signed an extension earlier, ending all hope of a Spurs bid being accepted. This is has been a highly disappointing transfer window in my eyes. We need a striker so badly, but all we got was Pienaar . Let's hope 'arry has an 11th hour miracle up his sleeve again.[Edited on January 31, 2011 at 3:51 PM. Reason : .]
