i'm not so sure...their resume isnt nearly as impressive as you would think.

although i'm sure the curry factor may play in.

RPI 67
SOS 176

Only 1 top 50 rpi win, only other top 100 win was us.

we'll see

The runners against Wisconsin?

That smile?

Man, those were good times Stephen Curry provided last March.

And if you planned for similar ones this March, well, your plans are now shot, because -- as hard as it might be to swallow -- Davidson will not be in the NCAA tournament thanks to Sunday's 59-52 loss to the College of Charleston in the Southern Conference tournament. The Wildcats are 26-7 and nowhere near the bubble thanks to a 69 RPI and 1-4 record against the top 100. Consequently, March Madness won't feature the All-American whom some have called the face of college basketball , and it really is too bad for everybody ... except for the folks who run the NIT.

And Charleston, of course."

I know I'm way late in saying this, but that "honorary starting" for the UNC seniors or whatever that crap was called was one of the lamest things I've ever seen. If you aren't actually going to play your seniors, don't put them on the court and pretend like they're starting before walking your real starters onto the court.

Every other school actually puts their seniors in the game. Roy could've easily put his seniors in for the last 20 seconds of the game, instead he pretended to put them in. It's not being bitter, it's Roy not being willing to put his seniors in to a game because he was afraid of losing.

that's dumb.

Yeah, they ran 5 seniors onto the court, everyone clapped for them and then they put the real starters on for the start of the game.

it's because they have 7-8 seniors this year. Last time I checked, you can only play 5 players in basketball. Copeland started the game, and he's a benchwarmer pretty much his whole career.

And when they were up by 8 with 20 seconds left with the ball and no one was fouling he couldn't have put some seniors in? I just think it's odd that we have some people here get mad that we didn't start our seniors but when I point out that Roy didn't even play his seniors that is somehow unfair.

Great SoCon final going on right now. Chattanooga was up 20 but Charleston went on a fast 14-0 run to get back in it. Currently down 7 at the under-8 timeout.

Siena won't even be CLOSE to a 16 seed. More like a 9 or 10. They are a legit team and one that might very well upset a top team in the second roung... Imagine if they still had McClinton!

I would love for St. Johns to be held to 10pts for the 1st half. That would be all too special considering that's what they did to us back in the day. Of course, they only have 8 points now with 2 and change left. It would be really nice to lose the NCAAs 'lowest point total in a half' record that we currently own.

^ yeah, what a freaking joke. i'm off this week and was pretty excited about just kicking back and watching basketball this afternoon - and i got stuck with this atrocity of a game. WHERE'S RON ARTEST!!!

and to lou corneseca: the Big East Tournament is NOT the best basketball tournament. Acc represent.

There is no conference tournament venue quite like MSG. Place is DEAFENING for a Semifinal or Final game with UConn, 'Cuse or St. John's playing... I've been to both and I like the Big East tournament better because of the setting.

i agree that msg is a great venue, but no way the big east tourney has the tradition and history that the acc tourney does - this is what lou was saying during an interview. big east tourney is def #2 (i went to a couple of sessions last year and had a great time), but i think lou was being a bit of a homer. either way, st. johns could use him back!!

This doesn't bother me as much as the fact that after the game the seniors each gave like a 5-10 minute speech. Although it was epic to see Hansborough break down in tears.

Hansbrough's speech was pretty short, like 90 seconds.

ACC Tournament in the Greensboro Coliseum can't be touched.

Why would that bother you? It's something they've been doing at Carolina for a long time. I think it's a really cool tradition.

They do it at Duke, Indiana, and a lot of other schools around the country. I think it's a great tradition for a school to have b/c the players get to tell the fans how much playing for and going to the school meant to them over the past 4 years.

maybe I am biased... but the acc tourney is usually always exciting

i think conference expansion has hurt the tourney game quality though ... instead of a quarterfinal round with everyone in it, you get stuck watching 6/11, 7/10, 5/12 games

Obviously... same with the Big East.

Though the quarterfinal games are fucking killer. Tomorrow's Big East schedule:

Providence - #5 Louisville: Top 5 team versus a team who could lock up a tourney bid with a win/good performance
#21 Marquette - #13 Villanova
WVU - #2 Pittsburgh: The Backyard Brawl in a semifinal team. WVU is a Top 15 or Top 10 computer polls team
#20 Syracuse - #4 UConn

In the semifinals you could be looking at THREE Top 5 teams. Sick!

[Edited on March 11, 2009 at 10:05 PM. Reason : Garden is going to be CRAZY for 'Cuse-UConn latenight... they bring the most fans year after year]

What if Syracuse loses to Seton Hall tonight? They are shooting a dismal 3-10 from the FT line in the first half.

Make that 4-12.
