kahr's are good. the pm40 is a tad bit too small for the .40 s&w. kicks like a mule? too much felt recoil for my tastes. i didn't like it. others might. very compact. good quality.the glock 27 is a bit wider and easier to hold. good shooter. less felt recoil.the p232 is great. the recoil might be too much for some. the hogue finger grips are great. detracts from concealability.

Goins Auctioneering is holding an auction tomorrow at the Wilson Fairgrounds, and there are approximately 200 guns being sold starting around 3:00PM. I'm going to go look at the Browning Cynergy and Citori they have on their website, and hopefully they might have some other deals there as well.
3/13/2009 8:43:04 PM
they had two browning cynergy shotguns yesterday that they let go for $1050. I think I would have taken them at a grand, but the other guy looked pretty intent on getting them and I figured that I would rather drop a couple grand and get exactly what I want.

main gun: strong side belt holster, or sometimes SOB holster. Backup gun: SOB rig OR shoulder rig. Go to hell plan gun, as well as tactical light if either are used: weak side pocket.
3/15/2009 2:27:32 PM
To each their own.
3/15/2009 3:25:31 PM
with me its the fact that every single gun I carry as a 'main' gun has similar if not identical controlls, while I only have 1 backup gun and 1 go to hell gun. They as well have similar controls, placement, etc. I own a LOT of DAO or DA/SA guns, as it makes for a very easy to remember carry style. Some I can carry CNL, others I just carry hammer down on the 1st round.
3/15/2009 7:06:42 PM
I mentioned the .380 because there was a chance of getting a deal on one. But, I'm going to go w/ the G27. It fits my needs. Might try to pick up a used or new. Need to make some calls. [Edited on March 16, 2009 at 2:03 AM. Reason : Edit]
3/16/2009 2:00:51 AM
I love my G27.It's not the best I've done, but this is 50 rounds at 5-6 yards with mine. Doing my part to save trees by putting lots of rounds through one piece of paper. I call myself functionally accurate with that target.
3/16/2009 9:38:46 AM
What's wrong here:
3/16/2009 12:34:13 PM
was she trained by h&k?
3/16/2009 12:46:13 PM
ohmy. at first i noticed the elbow. at least with that she could have used the gun. i bet shes one of the cops that doesnt like carrying a gun.
3/16/2009 7:10:33 PM
I just noticed the problem with that picture. It took 4 different viewings before I went: facepalm.
3/16/2009 9:23:14 PM
going tomorrow to pick up a 9mm cx4 for plinking anyone here have one? looks to be a good gun, should make for lots of fun, and be cheap enough to shoot
3/16/2009 10:32:45 PM
I'll be headed to the range thursday around 3:00pm
3/17/2009 4:10:02 PM
can't wait to get this thing out and shoot it.
3/18/2009 11:27:49 PM
Interesting. Does that red dot co-witness the irons?
3/20/2009 10:13:45 AM
^^what is that?the weirdness of it reminds me of some of the ruger's i've seen, but i don't think i've seen anything quite like that...
3/20/2009 10:37:39 AM
It's a Beretta CX4 Storm.Pretty neat carbine.
3/20/2009 11:46:08 AM
3/20/2009 12:27:14 PM
That's cool. I actually prefer that kind of thing to a true co-witness setup. Some optic/irons setups are designed so that when you look through the irons, you see the red dot on your point of aim as well. It's designed so that if your electronic sight shits the bed, you don't have to move or do anything to keep aiming. That's co-witnessing.
3/20/2009 7:34:23 PM
I've never heard of that. I'm in the business of using sights for a living. If you are aligning your red dot to your point of aim on iron sights, my guess is you won't hit what you are aiming at. Point of aim/point of impact is different for iron sights as it would be for red dots.
3/21/2009 1:14:22 AM
It would only be different if you set it up that way - set the POI to be the POA at 100 yards for irons, adjust red dot to be on target when in the picture, and they end up in the same spot. I'm actually kind of surprised you haven't seen this before.Rear sight, EoTech, and Front sight alignmentKinda blurry pic, but it's what I'm referring to. I've seen others where it had a flip-up BUIS so if you got to presentation and the e-sight was out, you just pop the sight up and go to town.Basically, It's just setting the red dot to lie directly in the sight plane of the irons. It requires a proper mount for some optics, but it can be done accurately.[Edited on March 21, 2009 at 7:13 AM. Reason : .]
3/21/2009 7:11:14 AM
If you zero your iron sights, and then zero your red dot, there really isn't any reason to get all bent out of shape about co-witness sights. While your red dot is working, use it, ignore the irons. If your red-dot shits the bed, then co-witness is pointless. Part of the point of something like the EOTech is that you don't have to focus on the front sight; you can look at your target with both eyes open and the dot will appear to be well in front of the weapon, practically on the intended target. If you've got something like an EOTech on a LaRue mount, your red dot may very well not be on top of your front sight post. Some people like it because it gives them a comfort factor for longer range shots, which is fine, but it really isn't going to do you much good with a pistol chambered carbine.]
3/21/2009 9:46:46 AM
did anyone go to the gun show today? any deals? i'm planning to go tomorrow
3/21/2009 7:10:08 PM
I went this morning. It was all I could do to find some .44 magnum ammo while I was there. Ruger 10/22 prices have come back down, but ammo is up everywhere. The layout at the new building sucks. There isn't nearly as much room between aisles, and there are a ton of people inside. It's difficult to maneuver around, especially at the ammo dealers or around venders with large displays.
3/21/2009 7:39:24 PM
^^^^ never shot on an EOTech, that's cool i didn't know that
3/21/2009 7:57:26 PM
Is the gun show going on this weekend mainly the antique/collectibles type or is it just a standard gun show?
3/21/2009 11:21:13 PM
Its a "standard gun show", admission is good for both days too
3/21/2009 11:36:10 PM
Awesome, thanks.
3/22/2009 10:22:30 AM
going this afternoon if anyone needs a ride

pretty sweet show coming up on Military Channel at 9pm tonightcalled Top Sniper"The world's best snipers showcase their skills at the International Sniper Competition"followed at 10pm by"Competitors identify targets and compete ni a city-turned-battleground"sounds pretty awesome
3/23/2009 8:48:51 PM
^^My buddy has a couple of those type mags for his 22, but it seems like the magazine springs are too weak to feed them fast enough and he gets a jam every clip, especially the last 5 or 10, regardless of ammo brand. You tried it out yet?
3/23/2009 10:01:48 PM
i had some bad luck with 50-rd 10/22 mags, but 30 rounds have been pretty solid...and obviously it helps to not have them loaded up for 6 months before you shoot or you'll get a ton of jamshonestly though unless you need high-cap nothing loads like the factory flush 10 rounder]
3/23/2009 10:14:39 PM
sweet, a tactical light on a 10/22because that's what you wanna go up against a night time intruder with
3/23/2009 10:21:51 PM
It just makes it that much more fun when you shine your light in his face and he starts waving his hands around, like movable targets.
3/23/2009 10:44:00 PM
I haven't had a chance to try it out yet, but am taking it to the range with me on Thursday.I just bought a red/green dot optic for it ($35) and a bipod ($35). Should be here next week and make this a pretty accurate plinker.I threw the light on there for shits and giggles. It is for my Glock normaly. What's cool is that there is a cover that slide over the entire bottom rail if you want to give it a more normal look.[Edited on March 23, 2009 at 11:11 PM. Reason : .]
3/23/2009 11:10:26 PM
how much are those going for these days? (the ruger)
3/24/2009 2:44:43 PM
The basic model from walmart is around $200.Mine (though not exactly what I wanted) was $310. This is because of the two 6 position stocks it came with and the 25rnd magazine. I'm sure they charged an extra few $$ for the cheaper plastic stock over the wood one as well, because it is 'tacticool' and people would pay it.I just wanted a 10/22, and this was the first I saw. Damn impulse buying.
3/24/2009 4:41:49 PM
Did you get it from PDHSC? I saw one just like that in there the other day, but the price was
3/24/2009 5:20:11 PM
it looks like a fun little plinker, and i've heard good thingshaha and i do like the "tacticool" look of it i still think that my next firearm purchase will be either a fullsize 45 (either an MP or Glock) or a Jframe thoughbut that ruger looks alot more affordable
3/24/2009 5:22:09 PM
I did get it from PDHSC. Like I said, $310 otd. This was after a 20 minute debate on open carry, and how I was going to be arrested. And, how the guy was a cop for 30 years and knew all the charges I would be arrested under. I then told them that police could go ahead and charge me, but nothing would stick and I could use the money. They didn't seem to like that response either. Oh well.I also bought a Sig 250 yesterday from PDHSC for the GF.
3/24/2009 6:16:30 PM
With an employee or just someone in the store? I OC in there all the time.
3/24/2009 6:57:43 PM
yeah, i see people OC-ing in there all the time... I personally CC and carry everything else in using my range bags and my rifle bag, but I haven't seem them say anything to anyone else
3/24/2009 7:30:01 PM
Anyone here ever make it to the range at Uwharrie?I have never been out there, but was thinking of trying to make it out there this weekend. I imagine if the weather is nice(not so likely this weekend) that the place might get pretty packed? I guess you have to take your own targets, what is everyone taking?
3/24/2009 9:16:26 PM
I'll be out there this weekend. You have to bring your own targets and you're expected to clean up after yourself - no range officers or anything, but you do need to buy a pass from the BP near the park entrance. I can tell you that this weekend is going to be freaking packed since a couple dozen folks from ar15.com's hometown forum are having our semi-annual get-together/shoot/campout. You're more than welcome to come and hang out with us - I'll be there with a bunch of toys and so will plenty of others.
