well two if you count the elite 8 appearance year as well.i just hope this guy can recruit, or if he cant that he will hire an assistant that can. larry harris maybe.[Edited on April 18, 2006 at 1:33 AM. Reason : ]
4/18/2006 1:33:39 AM
hire les robinson then fire him for hiring herb and fowler
4/18/2006 1:35:40 AM
That guys resume sucks, I'd rather have a young unproven coach. If we hire that guy i'm going to castrate fowler, he better buy a cup.
4/18/2006 1:43:44 AM
No shit. There's no way I want this guy. It's great we're not "settling" or anything with a career .500 coach.
4/18/2006 1:45:52 AM
I swear if we blew off Haith and Marshall for this toolbag I might not attend another game. This is total bullshit. Now if we hire him and he gets Ced to stay, AND Chris Wright to re-commit, then I'll change my mind.Maybe this is one of those "get their expectations really low" ploys by Fowler after getting our hopes up with Calipari and Barnes, and He'll hire Haith or Marshall and we'll all be pumped as hell. But those other two were too good to be true, this seems so bad that it has to be true...considering we are NC State and all. [Edited on April 18, 2006 at 1:49 AM. Reason : fuck this shit. ]

if we start sucking again, i might just have to chain myself to a seat in the RBC Center to protest. i really think Marshall would be a good hire. i mean think about it, there might be some growing pains at first, but then who knows you'd have nowhere to go but up and he'd probably be able to relate to the players and recruits really well. doesn't he play the uptempo type of game that Pack fans have been longing for?we have a good young athletic core that is for certain to come back next year:McCauleyFellsCostnerFergusonGrantadd in the three freshmen Davis (i really want to see what this kid can do), Werner, and Horner (provided they stay committed).now while this is a very young team (Grant being the only one with significant pt), they have the tools to be good (notice i didn't say great, i'm not delusional).now if Atsur, Ced and perhaps Brackman return, we would have a great deal of experience. i fully expect Grant to continue his great improvement that he had at the end of the season.
4/18/2006 2:08:21 AM
if one year ago, you told someone that herb would leave and grant would be our best player, their head would explode.
4/18/2006 2:11:33 AM
I'm pretty excited about the possibility of Kruger. How you can look at that resume and say he sucks is beyond me.I'd rather have a proven guy than take a risk on Haith.Don't get me wrong, I'll support us if we go for Haith or Gillespie, but I'd prefer Kruger.
4/18/2006 2:15:43 AM
From Andy Katz article talking about Gillispie:• Iona coach Jeff Ruland sent his resume to NC State, hoping the Wolfpack will look at another Iona coach. Remember, before coming to Raleigh, late Wolfpack coach Jim Valvano coached at Iona, where Ruland played for him. From his Iona Bio:For the past seven years as head coach, Ruland has compiled 114 wins - an average of almost 17 wins per season - and has guided the Gaels to two 20-win seasons, two MAAC Championships and two NCAA Tournament appearances. In 2002-2003, Ruland guided the Gaels to a win over No. 22 ranked North Carolina at Madison Square Garden. The win was Iona’s first versus a nationally ranked opponent since his playing days against Louisville. His 2000-2001 squad became the first MAAC team in 11 years to successfully defend its league crown, finishing with a 22-11 record - the second straight 20-win season. In 1999-2000 - his second season - Ruland became the fastest coach in school history to earn a bid to the NCAA Tournament. The 1999-2000 team finished with a record of 20-11, including wins in 15 of the last 16 contests, to earn the trip to the Big Dance. [Edited on April 18, 2006 at 6:36 AM. Reason : ]

4/18/2006 11:44:04 AM
At least he doesn't stay in one place too long. We'd only have to suffer four or five years before he bailed.
4/18/2006 11:44:32 AM
BAHAHAHAHA.YOU STUPID FUCKERS ARE RUNNING OUT COACHES BEFORE THEY EVEN SIGN ON THE DOTTED LINE.WHEN IN THE PAST 25 YEARS HAVE WE HAD A COACH WE WERE HAPPY ABOUT GETTING?NCSU HAS THE MOST PATHETIC/NEGATIVE FANS IN TEH UNIVERSE. Gee, if only we could find a guy who made the NCAA tournament and had 20+ win seasons the last 5 years, top 20 recruiting classes year after year, maybe produce a little NBA talent, perhaps a coach of the year award in a prestigious conference... Damn, we'll never land a guy with those credentials.

Per ESPN, we're not getting Bo Ryan of Wisconsin either. Cross him off the list.
4/18/2006 2:53:17 PM
I'd rather fall asleep than watch Bo Rein's teams play. You think Herb's offense was boring
4/18/2006 3:03:52 PM
Bill Belichick for head coach
4/18/2006 3:11:31 PM
lol, where are all these ESPN reports on who we are not getting coming from? is every coach just saying "just in case you were gonna ask, I'm not interested."Isn't Bo Ryan like 80?

i'll coachi'd do it for free too

Screaming and yelling a lot is different from getting fired up, and firing your team up. I dont think Marshall is necessarily the right guy for the situation, but if our fans want him more than Kruger, why not give him a shot? Hell....let the fans vote on who to get at this point...then...when he fucks up in 3 years...Fowler can say "I told you so you dumb bastards"
4/18/2006 4:24:22 PM
if you look at all the candidates, hes the only one that noone has said "no" about.well, thats actually had a winning season in the past 2 years.thing is, do you think Ced will stay if we hire a guy from the Big South?
4/18/2006 4:46:58 PM
What happened to the Lowery talk?anyone read the article on Kruger at Statefansnation?summary: Kruger = Herb ver. 2
4/18/2006 4:49:47 PM
Kruger has a better chance of keeping Ced and Wright, simply b/c of the NBA connection
4/18/2006 4:51:22 PM
I don't think Ced would stay if we hired Phil Jackson. I'm gonna go ahead and prepare myself for a team with no big men. No matter who we hire, Ced is going to have to really like them. Kruger cant really throw "nba" experience in there to help Ced, cause he really sucked up there.^The thing about Marshall is, he's got decent players on his team right now, and they play in the Big South. Obviously, he's doing something right in recruiting. I think he might be able to meet Wright, ask for a fair chance to recruit him, and end up landing him. Ced might be another story with him, but I think this guy can recruit on the big level if he can recruit at winthrop. [Edited on April 18, 2006 at 4:55 PM. Reason : ]

didn't know if this had been posted anywhere, kind of an interesting article

according to statefansnation these are the qualifications to be our bball coach...which knocks haith, the southern illinois and a bunch others out of the picture if true.

Oh so beating UNC isnt one of the requirements. Calipari is a tool....just wanted to get that in there.

no, im pretty sure we were his tools
4/18/2006 11:51:49 PM
that too

calipari didn't meet all those, and we offered him the job...
4/19/2006 12:20:51 AM
damnit why do people think whittenburg is a success at Fordham? 3 years and he's going .500 in the A-10...since when is that a sign that you'll succeed in the ACC?Fucking Jim Baron is better at Rhode Island, and he sucks.
