^that first move was sick
3/8/2013 8:30:21 AM
feel sorry for the guy at 2:00dude clearly is out-matched. can hear him saying "C'mon, guys!"
3/8/2013 8:46:29 AM
he's got nice control in the lane, weaving in and out to get to the basket and finish. and has a great looking shot.
3/8/2013 9:01:48 AM
3/8/2013 11:58:03 AM
Fuck.
3/8/2013 12:00:30 PM
3/8/2013 12:09:27 PM
Guys, this was never going to happen.
3/8/2013 12:12:19 PM
So where are we at now that Randle is officially out?
3/8/2013 12:13:55 PM
We could really use a JUCO or graduate transfer to play in the frontcourt, because Anya and Washington are likely to struggle. With these kind of players, you often don't hear about them until after the season. We are chasing Djitte, but he's a project.
3/8/2013 12:26:22 PM
there's that guy Gary Clark at Clayton too. He's listed as a small forward, but he's a 6'7" 215 junior, so he might still have some growing to do. Supposedly has offers from Wake Forest and Clemson, but supposedly wants an offer from NCSU.
3/8/2013 12:31:26 PM
Clark is probably the same size as the Martin boys and not as good
3/8/2013 12:40:34 PM
Clark is in the '14 class. He's only a junior in HS.Pack coaches have scouted him, but we already have 2 guys his size committed. I think Gottfried would rather sign Copeland, who is a couple inches taller.
3/8/2013 12:43:07 PM
^^True.^Oh yeah, we're talking about this year. My bad.(Scout listed Howell as 6'7", 215 when he was a senior.)[Edited on March 8, 2013 at 12:44 PM. Reason : ]
3/8/2013 12:43:29 PM
Richard Howell is still 6'7..
3/8/2013 1:03:25 PM
^He's also 260 pounds.and how do you know how tall he is? Have you actually been present during a measuring?Anyway, my point was that Howell plays PF/C. It's possible the Clark kid could too.
3/8/2013 1:07:31 PM
I vote that we get Howell to grow out a big fro & have him wear a rip hamilton type of mask & pretend he's a juco transfer from a local school
3/8/2013 1:20:43 PM
Clark wouldn't be a good option at PF/C, actually an awful option. He doesn't like physical play
3/8/2013 1:23:55 PM
oh, ok.
3/8/2013 1:34:27 PM
Clark is good. He tore Garner up this year and I don't look forward to having to see him next year.In the past when Garner has had bigger players he has been ineffective. Same thing happened against 71st Tuesday night. They had guys his size and bigger so he would drift outside.I think we would be better off using a scholarship on someone else.He would be a great walk-on, probably still better than Vandy.

3/8/2013 7:15:49 PM
Just copy this year's UNC team:Lewis, Barber, Purvis, Turner, Warren. Those five would be the fastest team in the land. Get abused on the boards, but it could work against smaller teams.
3/8/2013 7:20:26 PM
so Randle has eliminated us and Oklahoma.http://insider.espn.go.com/blog/colleges/oklahoma/post?id=20545

Telep just tweeted that Copeland is Georgetown bound
3/10/2013 1:30:31 PM
Not a good sign that we lost out on a raleigh guy
3/10/2013 1:49:39 PM
The honeymoon is over
3/10/2013 1:52:29 PM
You gave us too much too fast coach
3/10/2013 2:46:51 PM
wtf people. We still have a solid recruiting class with the potential to get better. Stop complaining. We are NCSU. Not UNC or Duke. It'll take quite some time (if ever) before we can build up a reputation to get UNC/Duke level talent with ease.
3/10/2013 8:54:23 PM
honeymoon aint over, still love gottfried and still think he'll pull something solid out before recruiting ends.
3/10/2013 10:40:45 PM
...we have a top 15 recruiting class. I'd say we've already got a "solid" class.

I brought this up like a month ago when it was preposterous, but what if we were to keep brown and or leslie? Neither is exactly hot shit on the draft projections at the moment.Unlikely yes but getting to be a bigger possibility with each inconsistent performance.Despite all of leslie's issues I'd still take him back especially given the potential for being thin in the post next season.
3/11/2013 1:18:03 PM
i'd take him back in a heart-beat. we're gonna need him. i don't even think there are any uncommitted big-men who could come in and make an impact. Our front-court is going to be real thin with Vandenburg and two freshmen (anya and washington) who probably won't make an immediate impact.
3/11/2013 1:20:50 PM
Obviously we want CJL and Brown back if they choose to stay. I'd say CJL is about 99.99% gone, Brown is probably like 75% gone. Neither will project well in the NBA because neither can shoot worth a damn. Next season will be frustrating, but hopefully each returning player/new player improves as the season progresses and they get plenty of PT. CJL has not improved since he got here.[Edited on March 11, 2013 at 5:24 PM. Reason : df]
3/11/2013 5:23:28 PM
I think CJL has more to gain by coming back. Also it'd be a better fit for our team position-wise if Zo left and CJL came back. We need to give Barber decent minutes.Don't me wrong, I like Zo and would be happy if he came back but I wonder how it would affect lewis and barber
3/11/2013 6:18:24 PM
do you really think elite talent like Barber (or to a lesser extent, Lewis) would transfer just because Zo came back? They'd have to sit out a year, which a lot of players don't want to do.
3/11/2013 6:33:08 PM
I think most likely scenario is both leave. The next likely scenario is Leslie stays, but Zo leaves.
3/11/2013 6:47:57 PM
at this moment in time, i really think we would be a better team without CJL
3/11/2013 6:53:14 PM
I'd gladly keep Zo or CJ. I think at this point CJ is more likely to stay than Zo. I'd have preferred Randle over CJ though
3/11/2013 6:57:08 PM
are there any current seniors around the nation with a year of eligibility remaining that we have on our radar a la Alex Johnson?
3/11/2013 7:08:39 PM
If I were Zo that injury would scare me to the NBA
3/11/2013 7:11:26 PM
^^not to my knowledge...but i'm guessing we wouldn't hear much about that until after the season.
3/11/2013 7:19:05 PM
Zo is a year older than CJ ... he's already been out of high school four years and is probably close to getting his degree (I'd guess). CJ could come back, get his degree, and improve his draft stock. Definitely more to gain IMO. That said, i think the best thing for CJ and NC State as a whole is for him to play great in tourneys, secure his standing as a 1st round pick, and get the hell out of Raleigh.
3/11/2013 7:38:40 PM
so you think we'll be better off with vandy, two freshmen, and warren (who's more of a wing) holding down the front-court?
3/11/2013 8:36:43 PM
3/11/2013 8:40:57 PM
^^Getting CJ back would help the front court on paper, but we'll still have a huge hole at the 5. We could get away with playing him there for stretches, but I highly doubt we could play him big minutes down low.If CJ comes back and plays to his talent level, cuts out some of the turnovers, and acts like a true leader, I'd love to have him back. But if he's the same enigmatic, turnover-prone, unfocused, unmotivated player we've seen for most of his time here, does it really matter? Since he'd be a senior, the team would probably follow his lead. Not sure that's a good thing, especially for the young big guys. I'm not saying he's a bad guy -- he actually seems like a great guy -- just a frustrating player and seemingly poor leader.
