It happens on practically every page on the internet. I've seen it happen on larger pages on TWW. I can't tell you how many times I've had 45+ items loaded (not really that many) on my google reader page and I click on a link to open it in a new window. 80% of the time when I go back to the window with the 45 items loaded, it refreshes the page and I lose my place. It's not the biggest deal in the world, and I am pretty used to the limitation and know how to work around it, but it would be great if it didn't happen. I would be beyond pissed off if I used the iPad for anything other than basic personal browsing.

I can only speak for when it's happened on my phone (3gs), and there it usually happens after switching from Safari to another app and then back to Safari. Although sometimes it'll happen from webpage to webpage. It's even happened when I've had too many wikipedia articles open.

I would be interested in that...i don't know if i can justify going to the new v2 version when its not that much of a leap to get the 1st gen for $250is (16gb).

Did they have to pay CBS for this? CBS had all the games freely streaming online last year. They might not have gotten the viewership they wanted from the "pay to watch on your phone" and have rethought the strategy.

Although, if State had any chance of being in the NCAA tourney I'd have gladly paid 5 bucks for the streaming app.

I wasn't aware the Zune was still alive. Looks like it is dying in the marketplace, though. The last TWW post about it was 6 months ago.

Welp, that's one market where MS couldn't win with its second act. MS is always late to the party, but they usually gain a foothold with later versions of the product.

I don’t know why this is in the iPad thread…

but the Zune was a pretty solid music player.

iTunes is a solid media management software suite too, although a bit slow.

I feel great about it, actually. It's marginally more than a Rhapsody subscription, but gives me 10 free songs a month and I can download songs directly to my phone without needing a computer or spending another dime.

Basically, the Zune music service is awesome and it's WP7 integration makes it even better.

I wonder what the lines will be like at AT&T stores. There's one a short walk from me but I'd rather not stand in line for hours with twin babies out in the cold. Just debating between going to the store and ordering online. Can I stand waiting 3-4 WHOLE DAYS for a new toy?

anyone with an ipad 1 update to ios 4.3? does it make it any faster? trying to determine if i should just pick up a used ipad 1 on the cheap, or go for the new one.

cameras dont matter to me, nor does a "slimmer" version, etc

^many of the reviews that I've seen said that 4.3 was a noticeable speed increase on the original ipad. Also, the refurbs start at $350 on Apple's site with a full 1 year warranty if you're considering an original.

4.3 took away the new gestures for switching between apps which sucks bc they were pretty awesome. I haven't noticed a speed increase or decrease with 4.3. I still have the 32GB wifi at $300 firm.

I just came from Crabtree, there were about 40-50 people around noon. Saw a lady in the front sitting in a camping fold up chair reading her Bible, lol. I guess she was trying to make herself feel less guilty about wasting her entire day.

I hit up best buy at 430 yesterday and they finally told us at 500 that they had like 10. Left and went home to eat.

Decided to go to crabtree apple store at 745pm. Was 5th last in line (they handed out cards to guarantee you one but didn't say what version).

Got in the store around 9pm and got a 16gb black which is what I wanted.

Never had iPad 1 but have iPhone 4. This thing is pretty fun. I'll probably only ever use a laptop now just at work and this the rest of the time.

I think I can see a little backlit bleed but not enough for me to notice or anything.

Yeah, I have the 16gig 3g original version ... not sure if the camera is enough to make me want to get this one.

Think I will just wait til the fall for whatever comes out at that time. I will say though, my wife practically monopolizes mine, and never uses a laptop at all anymore ... just sits on the bed with the ipad, or in the kitchen, or wherever the kids are at the time. For her, she would not go without one from here on out, as it makes her digital life so much easier with little kids to take care of.
