Dr Pepper Zero Sugar. Also a big fan of Coke Zero and the diet lemonade from the fountain at Sheetz.

At what point did you feel comfortable throwing away bigger clothing as you lost weight

After a few months, I think. I lost all my weight in a year. I had to make some room for stuff that actually fit. I wore a lot of Costco and thrift store clothes during that year. I went from a 3XL to a medium or large, depending on the cut, and 44 to 32 waist.

How did you know when you didn't want to lose anymore weight?

I definitely wanted to get below the overweight BMI threshold. It was kinda hard to figure out what weight I liked the look of because in your mind's eye you look a certain way and it takes time for that to catch up with reality. Sometimes looking in the mirror was almost startling. I saw as low as the upper 150s. I'm pretty content with 170-175.

Whats your take on the honda ridgeline, like looks, reliability, build quality etc kind of things?

I thought the 1st gen was ugly. They had some long term reliability issues that Honda sorted out after the facelift, iirc.

2nd gen is pretty ugly, too, imo. Looked like one of those minivans that some hilljack chopped into a truck. They are reliable. I think the early ones had some torque converter shudder issues. The VCM needs to be disabled.

[Edited on October 28, 2026 at 8:25 PM. Reason : supposed to be redesigning it in the next few years, i think. I have low expectations. Honda ain't]

I've looked into it before but it seemed confusing. One thing of sandpaper was like 100 and the other was like 1000 etc etc. have heard you can like use tooth paste or wd40 too but thought those were bs like internet rumors

just buy the Cerakote kit and follow the instructions. anyone who can't do it probably doesn't need to be driving.

yes. A drill speeds things up, but it's not a necessity.

Ok i'll look see if i can find something wrong. I know i have a real slow coolant leak but its so slow I just top it off with hyundai coolant from dealership(like $7 at the time, I bet $20 now lol) and distilled water. Maybe like 1 cup a year or something

Speaking of, is that coolant gonna expire? Prob had it like 5 years

[Edited on October 30, 2026 at 10:56 PM. Reason : Prob will end up flying if i come out though]

Lol mine is maintained well and pretty low mileage still. I think there is a part called an intercooler that leaks...i think its part of the turbo or something

[Edited on October 30, 2026 at 11:18 PM. Reason : Like common prob i don't think mine]

When people ask me about what reliable daily driver no frills low total cost of ownership car to buy, two of my hard passes are Hyundai/Kia and turbos. You have a double whammy.

At work, we have rotation going on where we take turns presenting a Safety topic of the week, and a Systems Engineering topic of the week during our weekly systems engineering meeting. It's our choice what we present on. The must recent safety topic was trick or treating, and holiday candy. The most recent systems topic was autonomous humanoid robots.

My rotation isn't until next year, but I might as well get started on the topic. What should I present on?

^^59K miles with no major issues is a very low bar. Hyundai builds cheap junk and people know it, but they buy them because of the long warranty. Then Hyundai pays their techs half the normal rate for warranty work to subsidize their junk cars. Since most of the work they do is warranty, they end up with incompetent techs because good techs go elsewhere. I do think some of the issue with them is that the type of people who buy those cheap cars are usually not like you and perform zero maintenance or do an oil change every 10k miles and call it proper maintenance. On the other hand, if you've got the warranty and the piston rings aren't going to last anyway, why bother with maintenance? Just kill it and get a warranty engine installed by some bonehead.

^Our safety topics also cross over into human performance, ethics, environmental protection, etc. The last one I did, I showed a video of Mark Martin leading a race that was finishing under caution and pulling off one lap early, essentially forfeiting the win to Jeff Green. I used it to talk about attention to detail, finishing through, and also showed Martin's interview to illustrate ownership of our mistakes. Can't help you on the systems engineering stuff.
