Jordan Brand Classic rosters released. No BeeJay, but Julius Randle made the team and is listed by scout.com as a Kentucky commit, hmmmmmm
2/12/2013 12:25:33 PM
so basically that game is "let's take commits from top teams and put them on the rosters" and ignore everyone else
2/12/2013 12:27:43 PM
Not surprising none of our commits made it, all slid down in the last rankings. Think Anya and Barber are on less than spectacular teams, and Washington is on a really solid team, to the point he's fighting for minutes.

FYI, McDs AA rosters are going to be released on Thursday

At the other end of the recruiting spectrum, I came across an alleged 2013 preferred walk-on commit that goes to the same prep school as Washington.http://www.maxpreps.com/athletes/33LHLBMn3kC-ajTuXmXDsA/basketball-winter-12-13/profile-patrick-wallace.htmLooks like the Brewster coach tweeted about his commitment back on 12/28/2012He is also listed as a State commit on the Brewster webpage.http://www.brewsteracademy.org/RelId/610519/ISvars/default/Roster.htmObviously old information, but I had not heard about it.[Edited on February 12, 2013 at 12:53 PM. updated? roster

If Noel's season is over, he's going to be looked at as a liability for the impending NBA draft, right? Wouldn't that mean he has to spend another year at Kentucky, and wouldn't that likely force Randle to take Kentucky off his list?
2/13/2013 10:33:13 AM
If we get Randle, it would be so huge for our program.Obvious statement is obvious.
2/13/2013 10:39:57 AM
The question is does Noel's injury increase our chances at landing Randle?
2/13/2013 10:42:18 AM
Why would it?
2/13/2013 10:50:15 AM
under the assumption that Noel's injury means he comes back for his sophomore yearwhich i sincerely doubt
2/13/2013 10:56:42 AM
1. He's not coming back regardless.2. They play completely different positions and are completely different players.
2/13/2013 12:19:04 PM
think it actually hurts our chances with Randle. But if 'sources' are correct, its really between Texas and Kansas anyways...
2/13/2013 12:59:15 PM
There is absolutely no reason whatsoever that Noel getting hurt last night would hurt our chances with Randle.

What's the word on this juco guard we just offered
2/13/2013 4:32:16 PM
What's his name?Is it the kid from Wilmington, Kadeem Allen?oh, ok[Edited on February 13, 2013 at 4:41 PM. Reason : add another note]

He is fast...i like that. speed is always good. he has good ball handling skills too...about 1:50 of that marks showcases some nice moves.Looks like Gott wants SPEED next year with his guards....fast fast fast.
2/13/2013 5:03:19 PM
Regardless of what Randle does, it'd be really nice to get him and Djitte. They offer things we're obviously going to need next year with experience and height.
2/13/2013 5:15:38 PM
2/13/2013 9:33:17 PM
^^ freshmen will offer us experience?
2/14/2013 10:13:55 AM
Noel coming back could only help us with Randle because it would lessen the amount of schollies Cal has to give. Randle isn't the only guy they have left on board. Would love for more their other targets to commit so it can take Kentucky out of the running.Regardless, I think we're battling Kansas/Texas/Florida for Randle. I think Kentucky is the least of our worries.
2/14/2013 10:20:40 AM
speaking of Cal, I wonder how he even has more scholarships to offer. He has 6 commits already for the 2013 class. I'm wondering when UK will start to see the effects of the APR scholly penalties. He's had like 7 one-and-dones in the past 3 years. He has sensationalized the model that he runs, but surely it can't sustain long-term success.
2/14/2013 10:48:54 AM
The loophole in the APR requirement is that the kids just have to leave in good standing.
2/14/2013 10:53:30 AM
Kentucky will always have a roller coaster like model for their program under Cal. The limiting agent is not the APR rating ... but rather the fact that when you have no valuable upperclassmen, you miss out on a great deal of attributes that make most championship teams great. He may get lucky every once in a while and pull in a slew of freshman/sophs who can play well together and are all #1 at their position, but there will always be great teams to oppose them who have junior/senior leaders, more chemistry, and are better coached (or any 2 of those 3).This year is a perfect example of that.
2/14/2013 11:34:00 AM
Except this year they have maybe one guy who is #1 at his position and he is out for the season now

2/14/2013 12:03:41 PM
It doesn't make any sense for him to come back. He'll be a top 5 draft pick without taking another step on a basketball court. If he comes back he only risks another injury. Even if he doesn't injure himself he'll lose a year of getting paid millions. No way he comes back.

2/14/2013 12:22:08 PM
They are talking about Nerlens, not CJL
2/14/2013 12:29:29 PM
Yeah, talking about Noel. The injury may help us if UK sucks it up this year and loses during the 1st weekend of the tournament (and we make a long run). Or maybe we face them in the tournament and beat them. But even then I don't see if making much difference. Kentucky can just point to last year's title.Bottom line - it probaby won't make any difference.[Edited on February 14, 2013 at 12:44 PM. Reason : Unless we can convince him that playing for Kentucky makes you more prone to knee injuries.]
2/14/2013 12:43:29 PM
"Look. If you go to UK, you're more likely to play in more games, cause you'll make it farther in the NCAAT and you'll always win the SEC. More games means more risk of injury... You don't want that, do you?"

Any early word on the McDonald's AA selections coming up at 5?
2/14/2013 2:18:37 PM
Kennedy Meeks made the McD's AA teamthen declined when he found out it didn't mean he got free McDonald's food for life
2/14/2013 2:27:18 PM
I think Anya could out eat him.
2/14/2013 2:29:21 PM
It'd be a shame for your knee to break if you went to another school
2/14/2013 2:29:42 PM
Ahh yes, let the May-esque burger jokes begin
2/14/2013 2:29:46 PM
2/14/2013 5:36:52 PM
Didn't see Julius Randle on the team announced on TV
2/14/2013 5:42:54 PM
^ He's not on it, though its probably just because he's been injured for most of the season
2/14/2013 5:44:36 PM
Congrats Cat!also, http://www.usatodayhss.com/news/article/julius-randle-set-to-return-to-action
2/14/2013 8:24:12 PM
I'm gonna be pretty upset if Randle goes somewhere besides State, but especially if he winds up at Kentucky or Florida. I'd be slightly less pissed if he went to Oklahoma or Texas
2/14/2013 8:53:46 PM
any good info in the rivals article about Desmond Lee?
2/14/2013 10:13:24 PM
^Not really, he mentioned Illinois and State as possibilities for an official visit but he didn't name a leader or anything like that.
2/14/2013 10:33:30 PM
^^^Randle won't end up at Oklahoma. Right now I think every team thinks they're the favorite, but personally I think it's going to be between Kansas, Texas, and NC State. I can't imagine him going to Kentucky with that class and I think we already jumped Florida with our visit.Texas it the hometown school, but my money is on Kansas right now.
2/15/2013 7:34:17 AM
I meant to include Kansas in my "wont be pissed" list
