I don't really have the time or guild for 25 man raids, so in a purely greed sense I don't really mind the change. You can't buy every slot with Emblems anyway. Raiders will still have better gear. What I do like about this change is that there will be heroic PUGs again. I imagine VH will be the most popular for it's convenient location and UK/UP for the density of emblems. The market will be flush with Frozen Orbs and I expect the price to drop by at least 40%.People who get butthurt about how hard they worked for their items but now it's easy are silly. The difficulty of what you've accomplished has not changed.

I was just checking to see if there are any low level people that still play this game. I bought it when i first came out and have a level 20 hunter, but had to quit for money and school reasons..now i've graduated and have a job and wanted to start again..but not if it is just filled with max level people
7/16/2009 10:26:02 AM
There's a decent amount of people playing alts, but by and large the mid-level zones are ghost towns. It's not bad if you're playing with a friend, especially if you do the recruit-a-friend and get triple xp.That being said, I started leveling a priest and he's only level 9 but I've already been in a few groups to do quests with random people so the low levels aren't entirely empty.
7/16/2009 10:28:27 AM
They have at least added ways to speed up the leveling process and in this patch will be dropping the levels required for the mounts so it should make the lower levels at least a bit less annoying.

If I was tentatively interested in starting to play/tying my soul to WoW, what sort of newbie advice would y'all give me, relating to what race/class to play (starting out) and general WoW basics? What are the most powerful/challenging builds to play right now? Is there a wiki somewhere with all the acronyms listed?
7/16/2009 10:49:03 PM
Its one of those things it really depends on how you like to play games. Tanks and healers almost are always needed but that is because there are not as many people who like those roles. Also depends if you are looking to play most the PVE (player vs environment) portion of the game or are looking to doing a whole lot of PVP (player vs. player) I would say go horde but I am biased because thats what I play plus all alliance are gay obviously lol
7/16/2009 11:12:01 PM
No matter what class you chose, go horde.
7/16/2009 11:16:04 PM
What's wrong with the Alliance?
7/16/2009 11:59:09 PM
Gnomes are gay, dwarves are stumpy, human chicks are fat, and human males run like they have something up their butt.Blood elf males might be a bit metrosexual but at least they have style.
7/17/2009 1:04:26 AM
it's great for raiders if they can keep up with content. for months after the whole zone is on farm, people keep running for that one elusive drop. if you can just buy something comparable with badges and run 5mans or something, it really helps keep raid time to a minimum until there's progress to be made, which is a good thing in my opinion. it's also nice for gearing up alts in a hurry. MT has "issues" and quits the game? well sure you can probly get an OT to step up, but now you can have a replacement DK OT in a couple weeks. as long as the badges can buy anything but the tier top 25 man content has to offer, it's completely fair.
7/17/2009 11:15:50 AM
There are a lot of acronmys/terms in the game that people outside of the game will not know. you should know what all of these mean:LFGLFMDPSTANKL2PLAYGGNERFKITEOOMGroup Loot/Master LootLoSBoE and BoP/SoulboundGreed vs Need
7/17/2009 1:23:07 PM
looking for grouplooking for man (men) to complete groupdamage per second, also used to describe class/specs that are brought for their dps the guy who the mob beats oncut the suck and learn your classgood game - almost as dynamic in meaning as fucksomething is too powerful and needs a nerf/decrementkeep aggro on a mob and keep it from it from attacking you and others by leading it around the roomout of manayou roll when an item drops vs someone assigns an item when it dropsline of sighttradeable until the item is equipped (and sellable)/its yours as soon as its in your inventoryroll if you want it but wouldn't use it as part of your main pve set vs you need it for your main pve set

^ I always thought LFM = looking for more (multiple)some others:GCD = global cooldownQQ = cry morePST = send tellHoT = heal over timeDoT = damage over timeWTB = want to buyWTS = want to sell
7/17/2009 2:32:39 PM
LFM is looking for more. I although i guess in some cases they could be looking for menhttp://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2002/07/26/.Class forum stickied threads are a good place to start.Personal for what class/race combo really. For example, i acknowledge that druids are awesome, and may be the most versatile class in the game for pve, and rock in pvp. I would rather gouge my eyes out with a toothpick then play one however. Ret paladins and elm shaman are probably the easiest classes to raid on as far as things they have to pay attention to, but that doenst make it right for you either.1st, i'd figure out if i want to heal, tank, or kill things as my end game roll. I would then look at the classes that can do that, and try to pick one that looks fun to me.If you arent sure what you want to do, you may want to look at a class that can to multiple roles.Paladin: tank, melee dps, or heal druid: tank, melee dps, spell dps, or healShaman: melee dps, spell dps, or healwarrior: melee dps or tankPriest: spell dps or healsDeath Knight(requires another character of at lest 55 to make, starts at level 55): tank or melee dpsMage/Warlock: Spell dpsHunter: Ranged Dps/pet classRogue: melee dps

shockadins no longer "exist" haha
7/19/2009 3:22:01 PM
hey hey double posting..i retired from raiding today haha
7/21/2009 12:19:45 PM
what, until 3.2 in a few weeks? you've "quit" like 4x now. stop kiddin yourself
7/21/2009 12:31:31 PM
We jumped from 11 on the server to 3 on the server last week.... got thorim and hodir hardmodes and had another fucking 1% wipe this week.It was on Steelbreaker this week tho.Got my rusted proto-drake last week too! [Edited on July 21, 2009 at 12:42 PM. Reason : steel]
7/21/2009 12:41:26 PM
lol, I killed FL for the first time last night. 1 tower up, baby! And I was the poor sap being launched up there to deal w/ the turrets. That brings me up to FL, XT, Razorscale, Ignis, Assembly of Iron, and Kologarn. We got stuck on Hodir last night, but it was a new fight for us. Motherfucker was freezing people (not the flash freeze) then throwing the big icicle on them. Asshole. Didn't help that people weren't freeing the mage or jumping on the snowmounds. My DPS was shot by moving around but I was killing everyone on total damage because I knew how to stay alive and keep doing damage. It's not that hard.Oh, and I'm halfway to Crusader and I'm sick of Argent dailies.
7/22/2009 9:23:50 AM
nice let me rephrase what I did, i did not quit the game, i just retired from raiding 5 hours a night 5 days a week + farming for flasks and pots and all that shit.i will continue to casually play, maybe join a raid every now and then, but none of this dedicate nearly a full time jobs worth of time to it.
7/22/2009 9:37:42 AM
I'd hope you have killed algalon by now with a guild that plays that much AND doesn't even pay for flasks.
7/22/2009 10:11:00 AM

7/23/2009 5:36:59 AM
Finally got algalon down last night, so now I too can quit the game
7/23/2009 9:35:39 AM
algalon 25??
7/23/2009 7:06:29 PM
I dinged 80 and within a week was in 4 piece t8.5, I tried to use other characters this time around but once again it always comes back to my shaman when it involves raids, only this time I am finally elemental and not resto!
7/28/2009 10:38:49 AM
So lately I've been thinking about starting WoW again. I find myself browsing level 80 pvp videos (I quit at LK & have five 70's) and checking out the normal sites. Worth it?Then again I did play video from my first Rag & Nef kill and thought to myself, "I never had any moments during Burning Crusade close to the fun I had in BWL." Has raiding improved since BC? I think Blizzard tried to kill it during then - perhaps it's improved in WotLK?Granted, I did enjoy some PvP in BC, but missed me some raids.
7/29/2009 11:45:08 PM
FUCK THIS FUCKING GAME I'm sick of PUG 25 man raids and not winning shit. I can't wait for the patch and I can just emblem farm.I got invited to VoA25 last night and only one other warlock was there. We down emalon and 8.5 gloves drop. I check the dps meters, and I'm 4th, he's 17th (including tanks and healers). Every single one of his points are in demonology and he's wearing all pvp gear to a raid boss fight. He wins the gloves. Weee.I have found a guild to run 25s with that doesn't suck thankfully, and I'm going back into ULD10 tonight with my guild. fuck pug25s, they're a waste of time.Ooh, and sweet, I'm the only cloth dps going to ULD tonight. But we're doing Iron Council, Razorscale, and probably gonna take a shot at cat lady.hehehe, wanaflap, raiding is seriously fun if you do it with a guild and the loot rules aren't whack. At least I have fun.[Edited on July 30, 2009 at 9:19 AM. Reason : .]
7/30/2009 9:16:33 AM
I def like uld encounters more then i liked most of TBC.I feel like they are more dynamic, or at least, more shit to pay attention to with out being complete nutbreakers if you have a couple of mouth breathers. Although we havent done yogg yet, and that rule changes if you do hard modes (but that just means on nights when we have all the heavy dps and our good healers on, we can step it up a notch for extra shit, but still kill it and move on when we dont.
7/30/2009 10:42:34 AM
lvl 80 arena pvp has been pretty disappointing. at the very beginning of LK it was great, because just about every class had some ridiculous assraping burst. most matches were done in under 30 seconds and you had all of 3 or 4 gcd's to execute. they've toned down a lot of specs/classes now, but left a couple WAY OP (destro locks, ret paladins, frost and to a lesser degree unholy dk's). I find myself less and less interested in arenas and more holding out for this BG ladder for 3.3. Yogg is by far the best boss I've done since pre-bc. The yogg fight is up there with vael, nefarian, huhu, and razorgore; very dynamic.
7/30/2009 11:25:48 AM
^x4unless you have some friends on a server you plan on playing with, don't bother. If you do have friends you will be playing with, go for it, a lot has changed/improved. Just don't take it too seriously or you'll end up stressing out over nothing. Finally finished 10 man Naxx last night, first full clear... I'm not big into raids. Bring on the emblem change!
7/30/2009 12:59:40 PM
On that topic, feel free to roll on Farstriders. It's RP (no one really RPs) PVE so you don't have to worry about getting ganked. There's a decent amount of alt lowbies and I'll send you bags/cloth items. I may even run you through some instances if you're having a hard time finding a group and I'm bored grinding out my Insane in the Membrane achievement.
7/30/2009 2:38:44 PM
It's been a long and often times fun road but I have officially hung up my raiding hat. New girlfriend in Raleigh is now the proprietor of my free time.
7/30/2009 4:53:45 PM
lemme get that horde drood
7/30/2009 6:56:31 PM
Haha. I actually like logging onto him every couple of days to do dailies and tinker around some. I will be more inclined to play him once the patch hits and there are the new skins and everyone will be running heroics.
7/30/2009 7:07:42 PM
I don’t know if it's the summer or what, but nearly half of our core peoples haven't been logging on recently. Still progressing like crazy but it's damn annoying to keep recruiting especially on a low/medium pop server. We also had about 5 of our top people leave last weekend to form a splinter guild with the intention to make a core 10 man group because they are greedy stoner fucks, so we decide to step in to Ulduar 10 on Monday to see how far we could go (scheduled raids are 25 Ulduar only, currently working on Hodir) We were on Thorim (3 keepers to go). Now we're on General Vezax, all the time with only the 5 of them on. Retards. Cool story bro, tldr, long story short, <Threat Level Midnight> of Zuluhed wants YOU! Mostly Raleigh and NC people.
8/3/2009 1:47:56 PM
I almost resurrected my account the other day. I think I'll wait for Aion.
8/3/2009 2:14:44 PM
I'm soooo burnt out on this game. We've hit a roadblock in Heroic: Firefighter and I'm just not enjoying it anymore. All I do is log in and do my Netherwing dailies. When I hit exalted with them, I'll be 45 exalted reps and 100 mounts. WOOO!
8/3/2009 4:47:15 PM
Same. We almost one shot the 10 man version, but there's an extreme bout of stupid in dealing with FF. Also hurts that that fight requires Druids/Priests, and we lost 2 Druids/1 Priest over the summer. Our guild needs Rogues if anyone wants to play on Gorefiend Horde . Our mt playing his alt rogue tops meters and destroys almost every Rogue who recruits
8/3/2009 5:22:25 PM
guild website?
8/3/2009 9:34:30 PM
To the person that asked we downed 10 man algalon. We're stuck on FF like a lot of guilds for 25 man just need that and yogg and then we can start algalon. I doubt I'll make it that long I'm burnt out, like half my guild seems to be.[Edited on August 3, 2009 at 9:47 PM. Reason : i suck at spelling]
8/3/2009 9:46:49 PM
crud. I didn't realize the Crusader title requires exalted in all the factions as well. Granted, all are high revered and with 1 more line of valiant quests, I'm sure the bleedover will help.
8/4/2009 9:24:11 AM
i dont think i'm burnt out yet cause my guild is slightly above casual so we dont push ourselves too hard. we raid 3 times a week and dont really work on 10 man content unless we just throw somethin together on an off night. we have some hiccups on freya and hodir on occasion, but can kill everything pretty easily. we've only just started gettin attempts in on yogg saron though. last night was maybe the 2nd solid night of attempts we've had. kinda starts fallin apart in phase 2, but definitely made some progress.
8/4/2009 9:36:46 AM
I'm not burnt out yet because there are still three achievements in my Fishing Tab. Old Crafty, Old Ironjaw, and the Dalaran rat. Plus I'm a long ass way from Chef and Insane in the Membrane. People need to realize there's a lot more to this game than raiding. (though raiding and getting purps is fun).
8/4/2009 9:46:08 AM
yea i actually was gettin a little burned out with just raiding with my druid...but i finally leveled my priest up and i've had fun playin somethin else. shadow is a fun dps class cause its hard to get into a repetitive pattern with it and all its dot times and priority system rather than a set rotation
