miscarriages are practically involuntary manslaughter. or maybe even voluntary manslaughter.

think of how many children have been denied their right to exist.

i've personally denied thousands. we're all mass murderers here.

I'm upset with all the legal murder, except in cases of rape or incest, and then legal murder is fine.

Hey I'm pro choice. With rape, women don't have that choice. I guess they throw incest in there as well because we assume incest isn't consensual.

Absolutely ridiculous that a court needed to intervene here. The woman made her wishes known, the fetus is essentially dead anyway. Jeez, let this family grieve and move on. And I think I just blew the minds of every single TSB poster.

are there statistics or research that can give insight to the probability of normal development of a fetus in that case? (honest question, nothing implied)

So are they suggesting that as wages have decreased, the demographic that would otherwise abort their child had less unprotected sex, or they chose to keep their kids?

It'd be nice if our mainstream journalists did more than recount the study using biased language...

I'd say if you control for religion and unemployment, I'm guessing abortions have an inelastic demand.

Maybe the Pro-Choice camp needs to start an underground guerrilla campaign highlighting to conservatives that abortions reduce minorities, food-stamp/welfare checks, undesirables causing crime problems, and BEST of all a woman who isn't a single mother at 17 can better pull herself up by her bootstraps and be productive in the economy.

This girl i've been seeing has a friend with two kids from two baby daddies. Apparently she is "allergic" to condoms and didn't believe in abortion after getting pregnant either time due to religious reasons. Needless to say I doubt her salary working at Harris Teeter covers the bills....

perhaps the next evolutionary step for females will be the ability to self-abort- I mean self regulate/police their uterus. 28 days is a decent cycle, but it's full of hiccups which lead to too many preggo women.

If evolution had its way, every woman would be having the maximum number of children because we have enough food to feed them. Reproductive prudence would be thrown to the wind. Puberty would start earlier and menopause would start later.

If we were abiding by the true will of evolution, we would be devoting our extra resources to developing giant factories that grow babies in test tubes, and flinging them out into every habitable inch of the planet and beyond. That's what evolution wants.

and if God didn't want us to have abortions, he could just make abortion a thing that doesn't exist. because he is magic.

~30% of pregnancies end in miscarriages. Nature kills WAY more fetuses than mankind does.

What if women evolve the ability to abort whenever they want just by willing their uterus to expel the fetus. What will God have to say then?

No, those contradictions are what we're here to live through.
Because they need to know the question to life, the universe, and everything.

I mean, God does. Yes.

Since God knows everything, he knows the future life the aborted fetus would have lived. Maybe God is pro death penalty like the religious right and he has just already seen that the fetus would eventually do something bad, maybe all aborted fetuses are not innocent they are just being punished by God.

I'm so sick and tired of the religious hate in TSB.

You're an atheist, fine - stay the hell out of every other life that chooses to live differently than yours. Sure, a lot of people use religion as a reason against abortion, but some, deep down, might just be living by Darwin. You know the guy that says a species will do pretty much anything to protect the longevity of a species.

You can't really do that if you kill the product of your procreation. I can't think of a more basic way to protect a species....by letting offspring live.

Was there ever a time in history (other than today) when abortions were considered an ok thing to do? Cite me one. If not, there's probably a reason. Because on a deeper level, its not fucking ok.

Yes, you're right. I dragged a Christian kicking and screaming to the Planned Parenthood Abortionplex just last week. Tonight a church group bringing jars of chocolate chip cookie mix door-to-door came by; I laughed at one of the women for having children.

I'm not even an atheist, but I'm sick of Christians acting as if their personal Jesus or version of God is always inherently superior to everyone else's. That, and the ridiculous persecution complex you have. Sorry, but the Bible is a really flimsy defense against scientific and rational though. Grow a thicker skin or GTFO.

You're taking that quote out of the context of the rest of the statement. I acknowledged that religious folks use their reasoning as a means to end abortion - and I didn't say I thought that was right.
