hey you, what are you doing in here?
1/19/2009 5:59:09 PM
^^ Don't worry they will keep throwing out players that didn't pan out for them. It will hurt them before too long and by then Butcher will be gone so he doesn't care.
1/19/2009 6:07:24 PM
that or people won't hold to their commitments, knowing that unc doesn't intend to honor theirs either.
1/19/2009 6:13:46 PM
cam sexton frees up one
1/19/2009 6:22:48 PM
Just look at that geographical diversity. I mean I love it when we keep the best players in-state from going elsewhere, but I also like mining the country for the best available players, especially in states where high school is really big like Georgia, Florida, Ohio, and South Carolina. You all will know that we've really arrived when we can go into Texas and California and get some good prospects.
1/19/2009 6:37:30 PM
I remember us being short on depth at the Linebacker position. Any concerns about having only one LB recruit?
1/19/2009 6:42:18 PM
Rickey Dowdy can potentially be an OLB. Hans Rice will supposedly start out at safety but grow into a WLB. Also we are pursuing Quandon Christian who had originally verballed to Clemson, but recently took an OV to State this past weekend.
1/19/2009 6:52:07 PM
1/19/2009 7:53:08 PM
We had 3 LB's redshirt from last season as well.
1/19/2009 8:24:20 PM
^^ so wait let me understand how it works. davis gets to take credit for putting bunting's recruits into the NFL (taylor and barth last year, nicks this year, tate if he can rehab and get on a roster) but when guys don't pan out, it's b/c they were the previous staff's recruits? so he doesn't have to honor any commitment to them? that's fucking marvelous hell davis just let the best qb on his roster leave. what a fucking dolt.
1/19/2009 8:34:25 PM
^ It might not be fair but that's the reality of the situation. There is something to be said for player development though. I guarantee you won't see as much attrition with his own recruits.Yates is the best QB at UNC. He was the most efficient passer in the ACC this season. If he can stay healthy in 2009, expect him to be one of the best in the league.
1/19/2009 8:59:43 PM
1/19/2009 9:07:06 PM
^LOL he is going to be average at best without nicks and tate.
1/19/2009 9:07:51 PM
sorry fucker only played half the season
1/19/2009 9:08:56 PM
^^^ I guess QB rating only matters when talking about Wilson huh?

1/19/2009 10:28:19 PM
Now that I look at it, we're technically at 90 right now, but thats including walkons who were previously awarded scholarships. IDK o'brien's policy on that.

^^I think your numbers are correct...I was just surprised by them. You may actually be missing one to the other side based on packpride's count. I think you have us at 89, they have us at 90. I don't know where the difference is coming though.
1/19/2009 10:50:55 PM
^^ haha Yates didn't even break into the Top 9 in pass efficiency.

did yates play 75% of the games this year? I think that might be a factor because he was injured, but I doubt he was more efficient that mr. wilson.Edit: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/player/profile?playerId=183674Whoops, I guess he was.[Edited on January 19, 2009 at 11:13 PM. Reason : .]
1/19/2009 11:12:20 PM
Yeah but I doubt he would have been able to keep up that high of a number had he played the required amount. And he wasn't more efficient than Mr. Wilson on the day that mattered most.
1/19/2009 11:16:11 PM
^look at who he played, and you can work on coloring me impressed but you won't be able to

Just for reference, Cam Sexton would have been the 2nd best in pass efficiency. I don't know how these numbers really determine how good a QB really is.http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/player/profile?playerId=170980
1/19/2009 11:22:06 PM
See how many more picks they each had than Wilson? Give Wilson Hakeem Nicks and he throws 25 TDs and still only one pick
1/19/2009 11:27:16 PM
how many sure TDs did owen fucking spencer drop?
1/19/2009 11:37:13 PM
gotta be at least 5
1/19/2009 11:37:57 PM
1 against WFU3 against UNCprobably more that I can't remember.
1/20/2009 9:53:38 AM
He dropped 1 sure TD against Wake, and 3 other passes, 1 of which he was so open he should have scored but he would have had to outrun a safety 30 yards. Against UNC though I only remember him dropping 2 sure touchdowns. IIRC he dropped a long pass against miami too but it was at least in coverage. Did he drop a possible TD against rutgers too before the one he actually caught?
1/20/2009 11:18:42 AM
I almost want to say it was one of the RB's who dropped an open TD pass at Rutgers.
1/20/2009 11:26:50 AM
He dropped one against Rutgers, but Jamelle Eugene dropped one against UNC. Prolly the mixup.
1/20/2009 11:28:53 AM
eugene and spencer both dropped sure touchdowns @unc eugene's was diving, so that's understandable, but spencer's was a bad bad drop.

It said that (I was) one of 500 athletes to be invited to a prestigious combine," Stewart said. "It was a great feeling to be selected as one of the best in the nation."Stewart was evaluated in the bench press, 40-yard dash, short shuttle, vertical jump and one-on-one competition."I did real well in the one-on-one's," he said. "Afterwards, (recruiting services) Rivals.com and Scout.com wanted my information and what schools I was talking to."Stewart has been contacted by a number of schools, including South Carolina, Clemson, Alabama, Buffalo, Duke, Georgia, N.C. State, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Virginia, Wake Forest and West Virginia. He has visited South Carolina, Clemson and N.C. State, and is favoring the Wolfpack and Commodores."I like N.C. State and Vanderbilt. (Vanderbilt offensive coordinator Ted) Cain is my contact, and he coached with my former athletic director Jeff Snipes," Stewart said. "Wake Forest and Virginia have come by, and West Virginia sent a film request."Stewart added that Georgia and Tennessee are making a strong push."My plans are to weigh my options when it comes down to time," he said. "Academics have a lot to do with my decision. But, the best fit for me is what I'll base my decision on."
