nah i've done it a couple times. i just hate lines, so my group always found ourselves dipping early and heading to the next place, or losing the crawl completely. Just decided there are better ways to spend the day.what day are they having it this year? [Edited on February 23, 2011 at 3:33 PM. Reason : add]

- You have to pay to do it- Paying doesn't get you drinks, just drink "specials" which aren't really specials- Giant crowd = less drinking/wait time to get beersI'd rather drink with my friends and have fun, not pay for the bar crawl and not fight the crowds.

its not raining cats and dogs, its raining fucking lions and werewolves

I go to LaPaz for St. Patty's & RiRa for Cinco de Mayo
2/28/2011 7:36:18 PM
anyone live in Eastover Ridge?
3/2/2011 4:04:54 PM
I know people that have lived there.
3/2/2011 4:11:17 PM
any gripes, rants or raves?
3/2/2011 4:38:56 PM
LaPaz is good stuff...I've been going there since they were on Fenton Place back in the day
3/2/2011 4:46:44 PM
Eastover Ridge is more of a party place from the friends I know that lived there. The pool is pretty crazy.
3/2/2011 7:47:22 PM
yeah that's what i gathered as well after doing a little more research. i want to stay in elizabeth but i dont think i can stay in this building. it's rickety as all hell
3/3/2011 8:13:43 AM
My current roommate lived here: http://www.elizabethsquare.com/intro.aspIt's close to the corner of Hawthorne and Central. Walking distance to Hawthorne pizza, Kickstand, Loco Lime, etc. She liked it, just didn't want to live alone. If you and the gf are going to live there it's probably reasonable for rent and what not.
3/3/2011 11:50:12 AM
yeah i've checked those out, the price isn't unreasonable. I'd like a house off Bay St., if I could pick my poison, and be smack dab in the middle of PM and Liz.

^yeah i plan to be at a couple of those. I was talking to a guy last night about the Common Market Freakfest, should be wild.Anyone know anyone living in The Spectrum in the Southend/Dilworth area?
3/7/2011 11:09:04 AM
Didn't see any details on Freak Fest I or II, what all is involved with that?
3/7/2011 11:28:38 AM
the guy was telling me it was like a mini-bazarre of literal freaks. the bearded woman, lizard tongues, people with pins through their faces, fire breathers, sword swallors, all kinds of weird shit like that.

Need some apartment hunting help. Finally found a job in Charlotte that will allow me to work around my school schedule. I'll be working near Billy Graham/I77. I will be taking classes at 9th and brevard (new uncc building) from August 2011 to August 2012 and at the main campus everyday for 10 weeks this summer. Ideally I would like to live in between work and school (uptown). I am looking for a 1 bedroom w/ W/D for around $600/mo.There is an apartment complex off of mallard creek that I really like (but this is 17 miles away from work) and I'm not sure how 85 and 77 are early in the morning. Any help is appreciated.
3/8/2011 9:44:10 PM
Mallard Creek is gonna be a bit of a commute as far as trafficUptown could be nice, also if you were close enough to school to walk you wouldn't need to worry about downtown parking, although I don't know if the school has its own parking for you...but it can be pricey tooLocation wise, if you can find something in your price range in Dilworth I think you'd be set...you'd be 10 minutes from work and school]
3/8/2011 10:21:01 PM
You should look for places on South Blvd. near Remount, East Blvd. It's an area of town called South End.
3/8/2011 10:42:05 PM
Good luck finding something in that price range though. I haven't been very lucky. If I could kill the people and dog in the unit above me i'd stay where I am
3/8/2011 10:51:11 PM
Something in Dilworth or south end would be ideal but everything I can find online is too pricey. How bad of a commute are we talking about if I go with Mallard Creek? Its a 3rd shift job so I would be heading north around 8:30am, does this matter?
3/8/2011 11:00:41 PM
well if thats the case traffic shouldnt be that bad...most of the semi-early morning traffic on the interstates is the worst coming into Charlotte, not going north like you away from the city...might be a pain for a couple miles but once you get past the 277 exits you should be finetheres plenty of restaurants/stores in the university area too so the only real downside i guess would be the distance to work and school compared to someplace closer, but just another thing to factor inalthough if you factor in gas money that could potentially sway your rent ceiling by $100 or so[Edited on March 8, 2011 at 11:07 PM. What's the deal with the St. Patrick's Day bar crawl? Is it fun or just a clusterfuck of people?
3/9/2011 1:09:42 PM
3/9/2011 2:29:28 PM
I've done the st. patty's day bar crawl every year except this one.....it's pretty much a whole bunch of people who take over the bars and will take FOREVER to get a drink..they give you an hr each place but pretty much you are in line for 30 min. to get in/get a drink me and my friends last few times pretty much get the different schedules and pick the ones we want to go to.
3/9/2011 6:48:02 PM
Found an awesome apartment close to work that im looking in to. Although it will definitely suck to drive 30 min to class for 10 weeks.
3/10/2011 1:11:28 PM
30 minutes? Assuming your place is near Woodlawn/77 it shouldn't take you more than 15 minutes to go 77 to 277 to school
3/10/2011 1:20:04 PM
I have 10 weeks (summer) of classes at the main campus of uncc.
3/10/2011 2:50:32 PM
ok gotcha
3/10/2011 2:55:49 PM
what complex are you looking into?
3/10/2011 3:11:38 PM
Courtney ridge for around 700.
3/10/2011 5:18:49 PM
http://www.makeafoodiecall.comthis is kinda of the new Takeout Taxi / Savory Shuttleand supposedly in addition to food, they also deliver beer and wine!
3/12/2011 6:19:36 PM
yep, we've used it a couple times. Haven't gotten beer yet but they do pick it up for you. It's almost exactly like Raleigh Take-Out, or whatever that service was, but I think the restaurant choices are a little better. You just have to order earlier enough or be prepared to wait a little longer than your normal deliveries.

4/14/2011 10:34:48 AM
I am a Taco Mac fan when there are games on, otherwise, meh.Headed to Terrace Cafe with some friends tonight. Have heard good things, but all I think of when I think of that place is frou frou french food. I'll probably end up going with the burger and trying to steal some sweet potato tater tots.
4/14/2011 1:03:33 PM
Ate at Zebra for an anniversary: Seriously one of the best meals I've ever had. Maybe THE best. It's $texas, but worth it, IMO.
4/19/2011 11:12:40 AM
Chew know there are always coupons floating around for Zebra. I have never been but have some coupons for it in my Citipass book.PS. Terrace Cafe ^^ was pretty good. I didn't get anything exciting, just a chicken sandwich with goat cheese, but it was tasty. They also bring out a starter of these mini-biscuits with honey butter and jalapeno jelly. Pretty awesome. Everyone in my group liked their meal except the person who got the duck sandwich. Also, sweet potato waffle fries were awesome.]
