It all depends on how organized the lesser group is. While my faction has strength in numbers and routinely holds WG, if the other faction wants to win, they will. Its all about midirection (i.e. make them *think* you are farming them on East then have a 15 siege weapon pain train come from west) or even have a contingent come from the siege stations in the south so that people with the East - West mindset won't expect it.I've seen Alliance win with Tenacity 20 in under 4 minutes.
4/15/2009 12:52:18 PM
you're right, & I'm not saying it can't happen, I'm saying the possibility of winning has now had its odds reduced further, especially when the kiddies show up after shcool's out.Anvilmar is about 4:1 alliance...horde sees 10-12 tenacity on a regular basis in wg. As it was, tenacity didn't make up for severly overwhelming numbers. We lost this morning on offense due to 4 vehichles v. 20...there comes a point in the numbers game where you jsut dont have enough warm bodies to go around.[Edited on April 15, 2009 at 1:03 PM. Does anyone know where they list hot fix notes? Warlocks finally had a decent burst, and now they hotfixed it less than 10 hours later even though it had been on PTR for how long? No idea what they were thinking. Were they surprised that it worked EXACTLY like it was on PTR?QQing wins out again in the world of nerfdom.

Poor destro. Its the beaten redheaded stepchild that has so much potential. Were having some difficulty with Razorscale. If anyone's downed this boss already, I'd appreciate some stradegy tips on how you went about it.
4/15/2009 11:26:17 PM
we just split up in the 4 corners with tanks to pick up the adds. razor comes down and blow him up. rinse and repeat. right before 50%, clean up all the adds. then burn him. we didnt know what to do in phase 2 so we just had a tank stay on him til he died and replaced him with the next one. we ended up killing him with 17 dead
4/15/2009 11:45:56 PM
What part are you having trouble with? I've killed her on both 10 and 25 man. 10 man we used 2 tanks, 3 healers, the rest VERY geared dps.25 man we used 3 tanks, 7 healers, more geared dps.For 25 man we split the raid into 3 groups. DPS priority is the Watchers (with people interrupting the chain lightning), then the Guardians and then the other ones. Sentinels should also be killed quickly when they spawn (which is less often) because they hit about 4 times harder than the other mobs and they whirlwind for 16k-ish while still melee'ing which can kill a tank that gets hit with everything and doesn't avoid anything. The blue fire ticks every .5 seconds which means that if you don't move you will be dead fast. Anyone who can't move out of the fire should be replaced. When the last harpoon is active the dps stops what they are doing and heads to the middle to start dps'ing Razorscale as soon as she's in range, just offtank any adds that are up. You want to do 25% damage in the one ground phase. Repeat through the second ground phase and hopefully you'll hit 50%.Whoever you want to tank Razorscale should be ready and another tank should grab the adds off him if he has any. The MT should back Razorscale up to the circle that's on the ground and start kiting along the circle. Razorscale will still be dropping blue fires on the tank so he has to keep moving. The tank will be getting a debuff called something like Fused Armor, each stack reduces the tanks armor by 20%, slows movement speed by 20% and does something else. We didn't realize that and I kept tanking until I hit 5 stacks. I was getting melee'd for nearly 40k at 4 stacks. When I hit 5 stacks I was frozen and Razorscale aggro'd onto the second highest person. One of our other tanks taunted and kept kiting in the pattern until she was dead. I would recommend having a tank rotation and switch tanks at 2 or 3 stacks of that debuff, depending on how well your healers can keep up the tank. There is also a sort of enrage debuff that everyone in the raid gets which is a Flame Buffet that increases fire damage taken by 1000 per stack. She has a deep breath that starts out hitting for 20k at 0 stacks and will eventually one shot your tank. You also have something like 6 minutes to get her out of the air before she berserks up there. I think that's all the relevant info. It only took us 2 tries in both 10 and 25 man to kill her but our server has been shit and it's been near impossible to even make attempts.
4/15/2009 11:51:37 PM
I don't think we were controlling the adds properly, judging by your post, & then we had a server crash which booted everyone out of the instance...that very quickly descended into a pvp shitstorm when one person decided to flag while folks waited for the instance server to reset. On a separate note, its pretty funny fearing someone into the instance gate during the reset & killing them after they get stuck [Edited on April 16, 2009 at 12:33 AM. Those warders with the chain lightning are VERY dangerous. Are you on a PvE server? lololWhen our servers were fucked there were about 3 alliance guild camping the entrance killing people. Our guild formed up and pushed their shit in and then the server restarted (which didn't help at all).
4/16/2009 1:00:20 AM
My main motivation for playing on a PVE server is because that's where the friends that recruited me are.But realizing that you'd have to deal with dicks trying to prevent you from seeing new content when it's released is a great motivation as well.
4/16/2009 12:51:48 PM
If only there was a GY right by the instance. If only they gave you a spectral griffin while dead in that zone. Its inconsequential.
4/16/2009 3:02:20 PM
Only blizzard's 486 powered instance servers would prevent you from seeing new content. If the instance servers actually worked for a change, there wouldn't be twenty thousand people outside.

So.... my guild wiped on XT-002 for like 2 hours last night. I'm raid leader and this is the strat we ended with. Plz help if something is wrong. We split the raid into 2 caster groups, 2 melee grps (with healers 1 healer in each) and another healer grp. We split the two caster grps on each side of the boss. If melee got a bomb, they'd run straight back into the open room. Casters could just stand still because they are all 10y+ away from each other. We'd DPS like hell, then when he'd crouch down, we would blow bloodlust and have all melee and the 3 hunters DPSing the heart. We'd have the 3 mages and 1 lock take out the healbots/bombots and the OT pick up the big guys.Rinse repeat with the mages/lock DPSing the big adds from last time before going on to the healbots/bombots of the 2nd phase 2.Healing thru tantrum was never an issue. We were kinda melee heavy so we'd have to make room for melee to get away if they were to get a bomb during tantrum (which slows you).Maybe it was just low DPS, but we could only get him to 18%.
4/17/2009 9:04:25 AM
You didn't tell us when/how people started dieing. But based on what you said, if you can get him to 18%, your dps is probably fine. Your healers need to do a better job or you need to reorganize your groups so they can heal more efficiently.
4/17/2009 9:29:13 AM
were you going for hard mode?

4/17/2009 12:14:15 PM
Any guild need a ret pally? I have great holy gear, but I'm growing tired of healing with a quickness.
4/17/2009 1:21:01 PM
For us, when the Heart comes out, everyone nukes it hard. Without a lust, we got it to 40% the first time, then usually 50-60% with adds out. The only time DPS switches off on a Heart is if the two close junk piles spawned a bomb or ton of adds. If you spend too much time running out to meet adds, DPS will suffer. They should know.If you get the heart ~40% he should come back up around 55%. We used that time to cleanup adds - and sides would focus more or less on the boss depending on how much crap they got. It's kinda important ranged dps aren't retards - if two groups are coming, root the first group so the second group catches the AE on the first. If a Bomb's ahead, root it and kill it when the small guys get closer.I think we used 7 healers. And a couple we were really carrying. We had no trouble on time once we realized the Heart hurt him. Unless melee are switching off, they should all be on the top of your meters. Really good casters that target switch and adapt quickly will be pretty close. Oh, and yeah, offtank the big adds and ignore
4/17/2009 4:45:05 PM
What kind of healer setup did you run Ken? We were working on the boss last night and tantrum was really causing issues at times. We got to like 1/2% before we wiped on our last attempt, but we got lucky and I got 6 Lightbombs in a row so I there was a lot less raid damage.
4/17/2009 7:29:12 PM
I love Flame Leviathan, seriously. I got to be one of the people launched, that was freaking fun.We wiped for ages on Ignis though. Too much damage all around, I think we needed more healers. We were running with six, one of whom had offspec gear.
4/18/2009 12:51:52 AM
We used 8 main spec healers in full BiS gear for Ignis. But that was also before they nerfed him so that he didn't randomly hit the MT for 40k with 0 stacks (he hit me for 54k with 2 stacks but a beast disc shield and a crit block saved me).

Just bought the new WotLK book. Its available at B&N a week early I guess... I have all the books - anyone else read them?
4/19/2009 5:57:32 PM
guilds making decent progression through ulduar, we should have our 6th encounter down tonight
4/20/2009 7:13:29 AM
We've downed FL, XT, and Razorscale. Gonna try IC tonight. For razorscale, I put 2 rogues and 1 warrior on interrupt duty. They were to stay on the watchers no matter what -- until Razor dropped. Fan of knives ftw.We got a legendary fragment off of Razorscale too Fury blows now, but I can still do more DPS as fury than arms..... I did 4100 on Razorscale as fury and 3800 as arms on the wipe attempt before we downed him.

^^^ WMO?[Edited on April 21, 2009 at 9:32 AM. Reason : nm i got it]
4/21/2009 9:30:57 AM
Mimiron is bugged all to hell. We got to phase 4 last night with no deaths through the other 3 phases. If the tank even moves one bit in phase 4 during his laser barrage he goes ape shit and wipes the raid. Fun encounter, hope they fix his laser barrage thing.
4/21/2009 9:35:42 AM
Yeah, it's bullshit. If one person gets killed by the laser barrage, he goes nuts and murders the whole raid. We had no less then 3 guaranteed kills get ruined by one person not moving. Did eventually kill him though.

4/22/2009 5:14:38 PM
I just think its really awesome to read the back-story on all the places I spend so much time playing in.... And the thing is, the lore is actually very high quality - I think on the level of Tolkien.... WAIT WAIT WAIT - I didn't say the writing in the WOW books themselves was good! In fact, a lot of it is just trash. But the underlying lore, I think, is very well constructed and coherent.[Edited on April 22, 2009 at 5:19 PM. Reason : s]
4/22/2009 5:18:47 PM
^^^^^ Actual dps is your dps over the time you were in combat. Effective dps is your dps over the time you were damaging the boss.
4/22/2009 6:36:40 PM
^^ The WotLK lore for a lot of the instances was fantastic. You actually did quest lines to know why you were going places (Loken, King Ymeron, Keristraza, etc). I'm still disappointed in the raid content lore, though. Nothing telling you to go to Naxx. Nothing telling you to go to Ulduar. No explanation why you fight Sartherian, a Black Dragon, while the Black Dragonflight emissary is just a few floors up. (Apparently this is covered in a book). The only thing close is Malygos.
4/22/2009 10:59:54 PM
So much for season 6 as ret now. The ongoing knee jerking with ret is dumbfounding. With 0 offensive tools being bursty was all they had. The 2 CCs are easily broken on super long cool CDs. In anticipation to the addition of exorcism working on everything they reduced judgment of blood by 40%, which was the top ability. Now that they removed exorcism and left the JoB nerf. Sweet planning, ret is worse than before. And to top it all off, they did it on day ONE of season 6 and pulled a stealth nerf at that. There wasn't anything about it in the notes, and it took hours before they confirmed that it wasn't bugged. The problem they had with it was the range, you could open up from a distance with a huge crit and get in melee range to unload the rest. Sound familiar? They let DKs run rampant through season 5 doing the same exact thing. Due to a huge amount of bitching on the forums by people getting facerolled with little resil in BGs ad WG the devs hopped right on nerfing exorcism by just removing it from pvp instead of doing some testing and reworking it. Reduce the range, the damage, or the glyphs and abilities that boost the talent by 25%, or even totally remove the damage and replace with some offensive utility. Leave it to blizzard to have a problem with the burst, try to fix it by giving them MORE burst, and then realize how stupid they are leaving a whole tree gimped, again on the first day of a season. Fucking facepalm. Also looks like disc priests are going to be worse than holy paladins were in season 5.
4/23/2009 9:55:49 AM
Uhh, you're complaining about ret? I'm not sure if you realize this, but retribution paladins are one of the most OP classes right now. Replenishment needs a nerf, and pretty much everyone agrees on that. Holy play (Double healer ret) and disc priest/ret are completely ridiculous. But, so far, S6 does seem much better than S5. DKs are not dominating, and hunters got nerfed into uselessness, as they always do. I'm playing mut prep with a disc priest and it's going pretty well, though it's much easier than it once was. Having played disc priest/rogue in S2-4, usually getting to 2400+, beating certain teams was hard. Druid/warrior was tough, and pretty much depended on you getting a perfect CC chain on the druid after his trinket was down and being able to kill the warrior. Druid/rogue was also hard to beat. Mage/rogue was very hard to beat. Now, you just tunnel vision the target and rarely worry about CC, though CC chains are necessary to beat some of the harder teams.
4/23/2009 2:36:20 PM
4/23/2009 4:23:33 PM
^^ I'm thinking aura mastery is gonna dominate this season. Shadowcleave will fucking assrape now that locks are once again having their damage surpass their survival. I wish I could find a good lock to test lock/sham/rogue but will likely end up doing RMP yet again. 2's will either be rogue/mage or rogue/disc again
4/23/2009 9:13:32 PM
mage/rogue will probably be decent, but significantly diminished since resto druid teams will be more common. i heard that someone got double rogue to 2700, but that doesn't mean much with this new rating system since i don't think you can technically lose points for some reason.
