It's her 5th pregnancy. 3 miscarriages in a row. I really hope this works out. I seriously don't want her to go thru another one. It will devastate her no doubt.
8/28/2012 1:37:11 AM
^ 3rd miscarriage together, right? Have either of you had your chromosomes checked? Or has she gone through any type of work-up for recurrent pregnancy loss? (Looking for things like antiphospholipid syndrome, lupus, MTHFR, etc)
8/28/2012 10:25:54 AM
I think he said that her OBGYN never even mentioned testing after her last miscarriage.I think it may be time to look for a new OBGYN.
8/28/2012 10:33:08 AM
Ah, didn't see that part - then yes, definitely time for a new OB, AND time for a referral to an MFM (maternal fetal medicine doc). You guys need to speak with someone about recurrent pregnancy loss, for sure :/ if it turns out to be something like antiphospholipid syndrome, or something similar, there are ways to treat it. And if it turns out that one of y'all have a balanced chromosome translocation it can give you some answers as to why this keeps happening.[Edited on August 28, 2012 at 10:53 AM. I am 30 weeks and two days and on bed rest due to going into preterm labor last Wednesday. I am already so bored but I know I'm doing what is best for the baby.
8/29/2012 10:34:25 AM
My friend on facebook just posted a status asking whether or not you should cut your hair while pregnant. What is all that noise about?
8/29/2012 10:47:17 AM
hahaha wat. Maybe she's confusing cutting your hair with dying your hair?
8/29/2012 10:50:33 AM
That's what I'm thinking
8/29/2012 10:54:47 AM
actually - my (pregnant) coworker was telling me that her stylist doesn't let her pregnant clients do more than trim their hair while they're pregnant because a lot of the time the client will want some drastic cut and the stylist knows that they'll regret it later.
8/29/2012 11:55:06 AM
Truth. Because your face tends to fill out during pregnancy, cutting your hair drastically short is usually regrettable decision
8/29/2012 1:00:51 PM
I got significant haircuts while pregnant and I was super happy with them. Especially since I ended up being pregnant during the hot hot hot summers. Then again, I don't have an emotional attachment to my hair like some women do.My hair and nails were fantastic while I was pregnant. A year later, not so much. My hairdresser was even commenting on all of my little fuzzies when cutting my hair yesterday.
8/29/2012 1:37:13 PM
my hair was already drastically short the longest pieces are maybe a couple of inches long.i continued getting my hair cut every 5 weeks throughout pregnancy. i'm about due for another actually
8/29/2012 9:42:59 PM
Yeah I've been getting my hair cut every 5-6 weeks because it's growing so much faster than it usually does. Thank god I work near the Aveda school so I don't have to pay too much
8/30/2012 11:06:55 AM
And I think that's the difference. If I had cut my hair, which until late was always long past my shoulders, a short cut would have been disastrous. I would've looked heavier and would have probably had a hormonal and emotional breakdown If you're used to short hair, it won't make much of a difference.

Well my left foot has started to swell. I've been confined to "couch rest" and putting my feet up. I didnt notice that my foot was swollen. My mom pointed it out yesterday and apparently it got worse overnight because she freaked out when she saw me this morning. I have a doctor's appointment on Wednesday so she wants me to point out my swollen foot to my doctor.
9/8/2012 5:01:19 PM
Honestly I would call your doctor first thing Monday morning or even tomorrow (I'm sure they have a hotline/paging service for pregnant women...I called mine a few times for major questions) if it's still swollen. Especially if it's JUST your left foot that is swollen versus bilateral. That happened to me after birth actually and they were worried about a blood clot in my leg, so they did a Doppler study.[Edited on September 8, 2012 at 7:36 PM. Reason : ]
9/8/2012 7:30:26 PM
^^ haha I ran into your mom Friday and she was telling me about your feet Has the swelling gone down?
9/10/2012 9:33:34 AM
Yeah, my feet are looking a lot better this morning.yeah, she told me that she ran into you on friday night. she said you look great
9/10/2012 11:10:38 AM
and like that I exit the thread once again.

9/11/2012 8:53:21 PM
Are they going to do testing this time?
9/11/2012 9:05:43 PM
oh man i'm so sorry yeah, are they going to do any testing?
9/11/2012 9:42:47 PM
Does anyone have a chicco keyfit 30 base they would be willing to part with? We will be starting with a friend watching our baby girl, and we want to let her hold onto a base (at least until we have to upgrade to a bigger car seat)
9/11/2012 10:19:38 PM
I've chosen our pediatrician. Going to use Blue Ridge Pediatrics. They have two locations. One that's adjacent to Rex and one that is in Brier Creek and really convenient to where we live.
9/12/2012 1:24:55 PM
That's where we go. I really like Dr DiFlora and Dr Vijay.
9/12/2012 5:34:53 PM
Anyone have a recommendation for a family doctor in the Cary area?
9/12/2012 7:56:06 PM
My girl goes to the same ped that I went to as a kid Dr. Munt at White Oak
9/13/2012 8:26:05 PM
I really like Jeffers, Mann, and Artman and they have several locations.
9/14/2012 7:45:42 AM
Those are both pediatricians though right? They don't also do adult medicine? I'd really like to find a family doctor so we can just have everyone going to the same place.
9/14/2012 9:38:00 AM
Yeah, Jeffers and Mann is Pediatricians only. Don't really know any good family doctors in the Cary area.
9/17/2012 1:40:56 PM
Anyone have experience with clomid?
9/18/2012 4:06:21 PM
I had a friend take clomid for awhile. Made her sick to her stomach while she was on it
9/18/2012 4:09:48 PM
Did she get pregnant while on it?
9/18/2012 4:47:06 PM
I offer you all my sympathy. Have you ladies tried things like ginger or seabands.?
9/18/2012 4:48:33 PM
my sister took clomid, and did not get pregnant, but she is a wuss when it comes to taking meds that make her feel bad. We both have insulin resistance/PCOS and are supposed to be on metformin, and I've heard there is a lot of success for pregnancy on those, but she wouldn't take the metformin because it made her tummy upset.
9/18/2012 7:03:59 PM
My doctor is considering it for me. I ovulate probably 8 months out of 12, but it's not predictable, and that's the problem.
9/18/2012 7:06:09 PM
I've discussed it with my obgyn already. We've been keeping track of all my issues and stuff so that when we decide we want to try to have kids we won't have to try for a year or whatever it is before getting help. My first step will also be clomid. Let me know how it goes for you!
9/18/2012 7:35:59 PM
^^ Have you been doing temp tracking? My doctor recommended that to me as a first resort but I was admittedly really bad about it. 6am is too damn early to be thinking about taking my temperature And after nine months I did get pregnant so it became a moot point. But I was doing very basic tracking that at least helped with the timing even if I had no clue if I was ovulating from my own laziness lol.My friend did not get pregnant on clomid but she also did not get successfully pregnant with IVF treatment either so I don't think she's a typical case.
9/19/2012 8:37:31 AM
I did the temp tracking, but gave up. Because when you don't ovulate, there's no point in keeping track of the temperature! I also do the ovulation test kits every month.
9/19/2012 12:37:50 PM
It lets you know which months you didn't ovulate though so there's that I guess. I used those OPKs too but man those things gets expensive after awhile. Have you tried the OPKs they sell online in bulk? I considered ordering some of those but would always forget to when I would need to buy them.
9/19/2012 1:49:36 PM
I bought them online from amazon. I got 40 test strips + 10 pregnancy strips for like $15. They are the dipping kind, not the pee on a stick kind, but they are just as accurate.
9/19/2012 2:57:18 PM
Yeah the strips are what I was using. I think I usually got them at CVS for like $18 for a one month supply. I found some places that sell them for a lot cheaper but never got around to trying them out.
9/19/2012 3:13:28 PM

Inside is blank.Envelopes are green.I also have a couple of these left:Inside is blank. Free to whoever wants them. After 4 baby showers, I think I'm done writing thank you notes.
9/20/2012 10:16:26 AM
I'll take them off your hands
9/20/2012 12:59:17 PM
I can bring them to your baby shower Or let me know if you want to grab coffee sometime
9/20/2012 2:11:01 PM
Either works for me My weekends are pretty open until mid-October!
9/20/2012 2:17:01 PM
My wife is 11 weeks. we have an appointment on wednesday for a pelvic exam and to listen to the heart.we already had an appointment at 8 weeks (the first appointment) and saw it on the ultrasound with the heart beating and they took a bunch of blood (which we haven't heard anything about yet)
9/22/2012 12:42:10 PM
Yeah, they took a ton of blood at my first appointment tooI can't remember what tests they said they run with the blood but they said that I'd only hear from them about the blood if there was a problem
9/22/2012 1:44:20 PM
With that first blood draw they test you for HIV, Hepatitis, Syphilis, and for Rubella antibodies (make sure you've been vaccinated). They also check a CBC and blood type. I'm not sure what else they check, but you'll only hear something back if there is a problem.
