Yea the way the Tickler dies in the book is so, so much better. They better make up for it. No worries - I'm sure the writers have something in store. The character of Jaqen H'ghar overall though has been completely spot-on. They cast a great guy for the role.[Edited on April 30, 2012 at 9:04 PM. Reason : ]

Uhh it is a pretty significant change considering the Tickler becomes her love interest for part of book 3 before getting killed by Hodor.

^what?

^^^Right. They're really going to miss out on how he's named the "tickler" because of all the lovable pillow tickles he and Arya share. Damn shame I say.
5/1/2012 7:56:48 AM
He only has his nickname due to his time being mind controlled by the Mountain, not his fault.
5/1/2012 8:05:41 AM
I like that Finchy from the UK Office made an appearance
5/1/2012 10:46:54 AM
Ah yeah that was Finch! I was wondering where I had seen that guy before.
5/1/2012 12:01:31 PM
Yeah, if the tickler isn't the one who impregnates Arya in the next book, who is?
5/1/2012 12:38:24 PM
Is that a spoiler?[Edited on May 1, 2012 at 1:05 PM. Reason : I'm kind of hoping it is, I want there to be a bigger character named THE TICKLER]
5/1/2012 1:04:50 PM
none of the stuff posted on this page is a spoiler. The character of the Tickler died in this past Sunday's episode. In the book he dies later and the death is better imo. That's all I'll say.
5/1/2012 1:28:15 PM
Maybe there will be a Tickler v2.0[Edited on May 1, 2012 at 1:30 PM. Reason : The Tick]
5/1/2012 1:29:50 PM
^^Yeah, I'm guessing the death you're referring to will just happen to a different character instead.
5/1/2012 1:57:32 PM
Is this tickler guy french?
5/1/2012 2:11:50 PM
Arya killed him in the books
5/1/2012 3:00:48 PM
please edit. They are probably still going to have that scene, just with someone different so I'd still consider that a spoiler.
5/1/2012 3:08:54 PM
"[spoiler]" is a spoiler? Jesus fuck.[Edited on May 1, 2012 at 3:44 PM. Reason : ha]
5/1/2012 3:24:33 PM
I mean, it was one of my favorite scenes in ASOS, partly because it was unexpected and partly because of who it was. There is a good chance they will keep the scene and change the recipient (just because that scene is too good to remove completely).Talking about what a character does in future books is always a spoiler imo. New viewers don't know which characters, live, die, are maimed etc.You have to think of stuff like someone who hasn't read at all. The people at work I know who watch and haven't read have all kinds of crazy theories or expectations for characters that are wildly different than the real story. Lots of information that seems benign to readers can spoil something for a new viewer.[Edited on May 1, 2012 at 3:37 PM. Reason : ]

I'm with CalledToArms on this...that's actually a pretty big plot point for Arya's character.

Hey did you know [spoiler removed] the [spoiler removed] they spent 5 episodes training how to [spoiler removed] people [spoiler removed]s someone at some point in this series in which someone [spoiler removed]s someone else roughly every [spoiler removed] seconds? This thread is awesome.
5/1/2012 4:21:58 PM
Maybe there should be a "spoilers" thread for those who have read the book to discuss differences and what not like there is for The Walking Dead. Shoot, even the avclub has two separate reviews each week.. one for newcomers to the series and one for those who have read the books. I don't think it's entirely necessary since it's not that hard to use some discretion and if you're not sure, just post a spoiler alert. But maybe it would be preferred so people can easily discuss the differences and what not.Another thing to consider (if you choose to be considerate) is that there are people here who are currently reading the books, or are planning to, because they enjoy the show. That's a big thing to spoil for those people.
5/1/2012 5:46:31 PM
There is a thread for spoilers. So far nothing significant has been spoiled in here. And it shouldnt be. I would avoid the spoi,er thread in chit chat too.The things you can spoil for GOT arent things like "oh ellens the 5th cylon, cool". Its more along the lines of holy fuck did that really happen. Neds death is an example. If anyone really spoils things for GoT I would be super pissed. There are some huge emotional moments, those need to be experienced as they happen or it ruins everything.

I'm reading A Feast For Crows now, saw the first season before startingbthe books, and it's pretty upsetting reading all of these posts and seeing how much better the books are.A Storm of Swords (3rd book) has been the best so far, IMHO.
5/1/2012 8:01:59 PM
holy shit talk about pot calling the kettle blackmy imitation of CalledToArms:"man you guys really got all bitchy about me talking about the books in here. anyway, here's another tidbit from the books that could be spoiler and nobody who hasnt read the books wont give two shits about"i blame the collateral damage on him, if he hadnt brought up that stupid shit about who killed who in the books, then nobody would have even thought to give the additional infoit really isnt that hardDONT TALK ABOUT THE BOOKS IN THIS THREAD!either you've read the books and have a whole other thread, or you havent and dont give two shits about how they are different.seems pretty simple.

I am so loving the red herrings in this thread. Keep 'em coming.

Suspend on spoilers, castrate on fake spoilers.
5/1/2012 8:59:44 PM
I heard it best on a podcast today..."You shouldn't be crying spoilers for a book that came out 15 years ago".
5/1/2012 9:00:48 PM
^^^ you only know that because you've read the books. To me that could seem HUGE when it happens. And then when the other stuff happens (if it does) it will put it in perspective. As someone said, it may seem benign to you because you've read so far beyond that point in a characters development. But to me (someone who has no idea where a character is going) something small in the long run could be huge in the short run... which is all part of the overall experience. the experience that is potentially being ruined or perverted because you don't mind talking about it since you know (believe in your opinion) that it's not a big deal in the long run.Or maybe you're just trolling... idk.^ excellent point, i see how it pertains to a episode of a tv show that originally aired a night ago.[Edited on May 1, 2012 at 9:07 PM. ^ So if they made a tv show about the titanic you would be upset to know it sinks?
5/1/2012 9:07:45 PM
do you really think that's a a good analogy? A part of history that a shit ton of people know about, that has had many books, movies, tv shows, etc. made about it (one of them being one of the highest grossing films of ALL time)...... you think that the extent to which people know what went down with that (no pun intended) is comparable to the extent to which people are familiar with these books? Now I know for certain that you're either trolling or are an idiot. Either way, I will ignore you from here on regarding this matter.[Edited on May 1, 2012 at 9:13 PM. Reason : .]

i should have stopped reading this thread hours ago although i'm kinda confused b/c i can't tell which are real spoilers or fake ones, but b/c events are (apparently) unfolding differently now i'm more motivated to read the books so I can keep up with you people
5/1/2012 10:07:09 PM

You do realize there was never anything in the [spoiler removed] section? It was a joke?
5/1/2012 10:58:43 PM
Dear god you guys are a bunch of whiny bitches. I could care less about the book series, so I'm tempted to just post every single character spoiler I can find and sit back with some popcorn to watch you people spontaneously combust.
5/1/2012 11:08:58 PM
^^Of course I realized it's a joke? The joke insinuated that this thread would suck if people didn't discuss book spoilers: a joke/complaint that I was commenting on? I can use sassy question marks too?
5/1/2012 11:20:59 PM
^^ Well if you care about the TV series then its the exact same thing. And if you don't care about either then you shouldn't be in the thread.^I never insinuated the thread would suck if people didn't discuss spoilers. I've already said multiple times spoilers should be kept out of here?
5/1/2012 11:39:27 PM
What the fuck man I was quoting disco_stu what are you talking abouti never said you insinuated anything, I was talking about the post i quoted.I guess I'll spell it out as plainly as I can: The post I quoted, not by you, makes a joke about how shitty a typical post in this thread would look if book spoilers were not allowed. Then sarcastically calls the thread awesome. I was just pointing out that the thread should be fine without the discussion of book spoilers, and that there is another thread for that. What is this weird beef you have with me[Edited on May 1, 2012 at 11:54 PM. Sorry, but that's a bit of a stretch as an attempted insult. However, since people obviously want to argue about it, I'll attempt to minimize commentary comparing the books to the show unless people ask about it.
