Yea the way the Tickler dies in the book is so, so much better. They better make up for it. No worries - I'm sure the writers have something in store. The character of Jaqen H'ghar overall though has been completely spot-on. They cast a great guy for the role.

Uhh it is a pretty significant change considering the Tickler becomes her love interest for part of book 3 before getting killed by Hodor.

What?

You wanted the shadow ninja to kill Renley four seconds after being born? That would've been the weirdest cut ever.

Right. They're really going to miss out on how he's named the "tickler" because of all the lovable pillow tickles he and Arya share. Damn shame I say.

none of the stuff posted on this page is a spoiler. The character of the Tickler died in this past Sunday's episode. In the book he dies later and the death is better imo. That's all I'll say.

I mean, it was one of my favorite scenes in ASOS, partly because it was unexpected and partly because of who it was. There is a good chance they will keep the scene and change the recipient (just because that scene is too good to remove completely).

Talking about what a character does in future books is always a spoiler imo. New viewers don't know which characters, live, die, are maimed etc.

You have to think of stuff like someone who hasn't read at all. The people at work I know who watch and haven't read have all kinds of crazy theories or expectations for characters that are wildly different than the real story. Lots of information that seems benign to readers can spoil something for a new viewer.

Hey did you know [spoiler removed] the [spoiler removed] they spent 5 episodes training how to [spoiler removed] people [spoiler removed]s someone at some point in this series in which someone [spoiler removed]s someone else roughly every [spoiler removed] seconds?

This thread is awesome.

Maybe there should be a "spoilers" thread for those who have read the book to discuss differences and what not like there is for The Walking Dead. Shoot, even the avclub has two separate reviews each week.. one for newcomers to the series and one for those who have read the books. I don't think it's entirely necessary since it's not that hard to use some discretion and if you're not sure, just post a spoiler alert. But maybe it would be preferred so people can easily discuss the differences and what not.

Another thing to consider (if you choose to be considerate) is that there are people here who are currently reading the books, or are planning to, because they enjoy the show. That's a big thing to spoil for those people.

There is a thread for spoilers. So far nothing significant has been spoiled in here. And it shouldnt be. I would avoid the spoi,er thread in chit chat too.

The things you can spoil for GOT arent things like "oh ellens the 5th cylon, cool". Its more along the lines of holy fuck did that really happen. Neds death is an example. If anyone really spoils things for GoT I would be super pissed. There are some huge emotional moments, those need to be experienced as they happen or it ruins everything.

those things are your opinions. I don't want to know anything that happens before it happens, rather it's a big emotional thing or a matter of fact thing. And no, nothing that we know of has been spoiled for sure in the show. But things in the books (that are different than the show at this point) have been spoiled.

What ussjbroli posted is a pretty big potential spoiler in my book because it could very reasonably still happen for the most part. Do you not think it fits the bill of being a pretty big emotional moment for that character?

other people don't have a problem talking about things being different without actually saying specifically what or how it's different. And again, if they wanted to, all they really need to do is put Spoiler so people know to skip ahead.

I'm reading A Feast For Crows now, saw the first season before startingbthe books, and it's pretty upsetting reading all of these posts and seeing how much better the books are.

A Storm of Swords (3rd book) has been the best so far, IMHO.

holy shit talk about pot calling the kettle black

my imitation of CalledToArms:
"man you guys really got all bitchy about me talking about the books in here. anyway, here's another tidbit from the books that could be spoiler and nobody who hasnt read the books wont give two shits about"

i blame the collateral damage on him, if he hadnt brought up that stupid shit about who killed who in the books, then nobody would have even thought to give the additional info

it really isnt that hard

DONT TALK ABOUT THE BOOKS IN THIS THREAD!

either you've read the books and have a whole other thread, or you havent and dont give two shits about how they are different.

seems pretty simple.

I do think that the thing mentioned above should've been kept for the other thread, and I would agree that we should push any book talk into the book thread.

But anyways - the storyline with Arya that will now change is nowhere near as big to her development as when she meets [spoiler], or when she gets [spoiler] by [spoiler], or when she rides on [spoiler]. Can't forget when she goes to [spoiler] either.

^^^ you only know that because you've read the books. To me that could seem HUGE when it happens. And then when the other stuff happens (if it does) it will put it in perspective.

As someone said, it may seem benign to you because you've read so far beyond that point in a characters development. But to me (someone who has no idea where a character is going) something small in the long run could be huge in the short run... which is all part of the overall experience. the experience that is potentially being ruined or perverted because you don't mind talking about it since you know (believe in your opinion) that it's not a big deal in the long run.

Or maybe you're just trolling... idk.

^ excellent point, i see how it pertains to a episode of a tv show that originally aired a night ago.

do you really think that's a a good analogy? A part of history that a shit ton of people know about, that has had many books, movies, tv shows, etc. made about it (one of them being one of the highest grossing films of ALL time)...... you think that the extent to which people know what went down with that (no pun intended) is comparable to the extent to which people are familiar with these books?

Now I know for certain that you're either trolling or are an idiot. Either way, I will ignore you from here on regarding this matter.

if i see a spoiler dicking around on the internetz, that applies, but when i see a spoiler in a thread where it has been expressed that people shouldnt talk about something and when is there is a whole other thread for that, its annoying. if there was nowhere else for book talk, i'd understand and just stay the fuck out of this thread.

there are other older shows i watch that sometimes ill see a spoiler somewhere and dont cry foul b/c its my own fault for browsing.

Wow, you are dense.

Future events from books are not necessary to discussion of a TV show. If they were then a Breaking Bad thread would not exist. Is it really that burdensome for you to go post in the Song of Ice and Fire thread?

Sorry we're ruining your precious thread by not wanting to know plot points before they happen.

What the fuck man I was quoting disco_stu what are you talking about

i never said you insinuated anything, I was talking about the post i quoted.

I guess I'll spell it out as plainly as I can: The post I quoted, not by you, makes a joke about how shitty a typical post in this thread would look if book spoilers were not allowed. Then sarcastically calls the thread awesome. I was just pointing out that the thread should be fine without the discussion of book spoilers, and that there is another thread for that.

What is this weird beef you have with me
