Interesting read that is relevant to this topic:http://www.dailypress.com/sports/teel-blog/dp-teel-time-acc-sec-finances,0,1583597.story

That has nothing to do with mules.

5/25/2012 12:26:27 AM
lol
5/25/2012 12:44:17 AM
All original members of the ACC came from the Southern ConferenceState playing teams that I have no association with makes wins and losses less meaningful
5/25/2012 8:42:46 AM
I don't know. If we moved to the SEC we'd probably end every season at the bottom of the conference... it'd feel just like home.
5/25/2012 8:54:36 AM
Guess I'm more of a State fan than an ACC fan
5/25/2012 9:10:45 AM
I'd still be a State fan if we moved conferences, obviously, but at least in the near term the games will be less interesting. Especially for basketball. Honestly, for football, our annual doses of Wake, BC, and whatever crap Big East teams we schedule hasn't been that enticing lately. But I will miss the basketball lineup. Oh wait, we're losing the home-and-home with UNC anyway. F*ck it, nevermind.[Edited on May 25, 2012 at 9:30 AM. Reason : ..]

anyways, back on topic.
5/25/2012 10:23:16 AM
so the AP is reporting that Clemson officials met for two hours to discuss a move to the Big 12, even though they have no official offer http://espn.go.com/college-sports/story/_/id/7970495/clemson-tigers-open-offers-leave-acc-board-chairman-says
5/25/2012 10:50:08 AM
I'm guessing that they want to boost their football reputation? Being in the ACC seems to have no benefit when your one wtf loss is to a decent ACC team that automatically gets you kicked out of the top 25
5/25/2012 10:54:33 AM
you know how Clemson could boost their football reputation? don't let WVU hang 70 points on you in a bowl gamealso ]
5/25/2012 10:56:05 AM
5/25/2012 10:58:25 AM
i would be sad to see clemson leave the ACC, mainly because i want them to beat UNC in chapel hill in basketball one day.[Edited on May 25, 2012 at 10:59 AM. Reason : also i don't care if we get shut out of the goddamn football championship.]
5/25/2012 10:58:26 AM
i'm wondering why Clemson, FSU, Miami etc would want to go to the Big XIIthey can barely win the ACC as it is, good luck beating Texas and Oklahoma every year
5/25/2012 11:07:14 AM
FSU admin guy complained about the ACC being too NC-centricUT giggled quietly to itself[Edited on May 25, 2012 at 11:08 AM. Reason : ]

First off, the SEC has absolutely 0 interest in GT. Bank that. Next, the SEC's dream is VT and UNC for the market expansion. UNC would never move to the SEC so the next best option for the SEC would be State. Maryland would be a last resort/consolation prize if all other options fell through. This is all hypothetical, but does anyone think that the old guard at State would allow the school to break from UNC, Duke, and Wake? I've spoken to a lot of State fans/grads that would be okay with a move to the SEC, but they are all fairly young (less than 35).
5/25/2012 11:14:12 AM
DEAR GOD IT WONT STOPlook, we've already discussed this. State is going to the SEC, will win national championships in both football and basketball multiple times in the next decade, and will become an independent with our own TV network.
5/25/2012 11:15:45 AM
We're beating a dead mule here, guys

I say FUCK IT.Let's let whoever wants to leave leave. We aren't a football power and never have been.We should stick with the other NC teams no matter what.In fact, if things sort out the way they might...the ACC might be:-NC State-UNC-Duke-Wake-UVA-Maryland-Pitt-Syracuse-BCThen we'd probably have to take the rest of the Big East on the Atlantic coast: UConn, Rutgets, TempleHonestly, I'd be totally fine with a new ACC that loses everything south of NC and takes in good basketball teams.[Edited on June 8, 2012 at 3:01 PM. derp.FSU isn't leaving. They made up their money problems/threatening to leave in order to up booster contributions.MULES MULES MULES MULES MULES
6/8/2012 7:58:52 PM
^ the quote I heard was its a question of when, not if... and the when is probably going to be answered about 3 days after they announce the official playoff format. If they leave, Miami is leaving...
6/8/2012 8:03:19 PM
the quote i heard was a question of who, or which, as in which conference would want a couple florida schools that cant even win the ACC in footballfsu is obviously now a basketball school since winning the ACC last year in HOOPS
6/8/2012 8:49:30 PM
wtf is this talk about Notre Dame being the ACC's Orange Bowl opponent?
7/10/2012 6:01:23 PM
^That is only if they have a good enough record. Sort of like the Gator Bowl used to be when we played them. The Gator Bowl was allowed to take Big East #2, or Notre Dame a certain number of times, over the Big East team.
7/10/2012 9:08:46 PM
best way to legitimize the orange bowl
7/10/2012 9:13:57 PM
So Orange Bowl = Gator Bowl of the past. Why don't they just join a damn conference already?
7/11/2012 7:07:59 AM
Pitt to join in 2013:http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball/blog/brett-mcmurphy/19610373/Pittsburgh-reaches-deal-with-Big-East-to-join-ACC-in-2013

maryland and rutgers to big ten? yeah right lolhttp://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/8644587/maryland-terrapins-rutgers-scarlet-knights-talks-join-big-ten-conference-sources-say

I couldn't bump this one, but as I said in the ND thread:

maryland fans seem to be largely against ithttp://maryland.247sports.com/Board/53/fresh-UMD-to-big-10-talk-14023366/1
11/17/2012 5:50:37 PM
of course, every other fanbase in the ACC wants them out, they don't want to leave, just like BC
11/17/2012 6:02:31 PM
The buyout is negotiableLets get it down, then take our cut of it to buyout TOB
11/17/2012 6:05:41 PM
At least the ACC will have even members when Notre Dame joins full time
11/17/2012 6:07:10 PM
no negotiation of the buyout, we don't want fsu and clemson to get any bright ideas
11/17/2012 6:10:09 PM
In all seriousness, a lot of people on that board are talking about rivalries but with Syracuse and Pitt coming in they will have some closer geographical rivals. Long term the only logical expansion for the ACC is further north since it is going to be very hard to get anyone worthwhile from the sout
11/17/2012 6:18:26 PM
If this happens, I hope we don't panic and try to plug in UConn.
11/17/2012 8:58:39 PM
you know we will
