^ the only things i've seen today were that Sprint was having trouble registering new devices (apparently a lot of people are buying?), and that there's some sort of bug with the included SD card. Are there any folks out there using DoubleTwist to manage their media and syncing to an Android device? The more I'm reading, the more I'm seeing it as THE primary alternative to iTunes, and it's esp. good if you use Android.
6/4/2010 5:51:42 PM
i use it and like it, but i use the htc music app instead of the double twist app. it's nothing revolutionary but it easily syncs music/movies/pictures easier than dragging and dropping files.if you use the doubletwist app you can even get your play counts, ratings, and playlists from itunes but i didn't like it as much as the htc music app.
6/4/2010 6:03:28 PM
I've been using homepipe, but that's only cos I haven't messed around with doubletwist much
6/4/2010 6:04:57 PM
I don't really see the need to sync my music. I just drag and drop whatever I want on there, I don't use iTunes anyway, and I just use the AT&T Music app to listen to whatever I put on my sd card. There's nothing special about the AT&T Music app, but nothing wrong with it either.
6/4/2010 6:26:56 PM
i used to drag and drop but now my music changes often and its a pain to remember what i need to copy over. automatic syncing saves time.
6/4/2010 6:50:09 PM
I tried DoubleTwist but I found the UI to be really buggy. I use TuneSync, it syncs with my iTunes over wifi and it is fantastic.
6/4/2010 7:25:00 PM
there's also HomePipe for streaminghttp://lifehacker.com/5554843/homepipe-streams-music-from-your-pc-to-your-smartphone

Hey does anyone need an 8GB microSD or Zagg shield for Evo?
6/4/2010 7:41:05 PM
i was never able to get tunesync to connect to my computer
6/4/2010 8:57:03 PM
ok microSD prices have dropped a lot so i'll definitely be returning that for some skullcandy headphones or something. As for the zagg shield I just picked it up to use my 15% and 20.00 credit and so the RS manager would get some upsales. I already have a phantomskin OTW. I'll drop the invisible shield in the mail tomorrow for like 14 bucks paypal and it should get to you by monday if anyone is interested.

Posting from my evo! Loving it so far

Which browser do yall use? I have skyfire and Dolphin installed, and if you combined those two IMO you'd have the perfect mobile browser.
6/5/2010 2:09:05 AM
On my Incredible, I think the default HTC-customized browser is great, I tried both Skyfire and Dolphin and found both to be sluggish and bloated in comparison. Opera is a bit faster but the zooming is kind of weird...
6/5/2010 8:07:08 AM
I've had no problems with speed on any of them. Opera just sucked.

http://i50.tinypic.com/ru1t7c.jpg pick too big.Wtf man, I put on my skin today but there is no way possible at ALL that I pressed down hard enough to do anything like this. The glass is perfect. Has anyone seen this before? Right now I'm convincing myself it's dish detergent residue or something?TEP should have no problem covering this, but I'm going to end up waiting weeks before they have enough stock. and I'm definitely not going to get a refurb.[Edited on June 5, 2010 at 8:00 PM. wow. now my screen is completely black. Figures that I come out of "early adopter" retirement and get slammed with this.
6/5/2010 11:05:57 PM
damn, what exactly happened? you applied the phantomskin thing and now the screen is messed up? can you remove the skin? did it involve some kind of applicator liquid or being wet?edit: check this out: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=123750similar post to yours - some dude just applied the ZAGG protector (another "wet" film installation) and he has issues with the screen. it sounds like the EVO's screen can't handle much moisture. this is exactly why i never use those products that require you to spray down the device. just stick to the stiff films that work by static/stickyness.[Edited on June 6, 2010 at 12:09 AM. I just ordered my evo, come here, and now find out its a piece of shit? super
6/6/2010 11:21:36 AM
chill out dude. it's not that bad.

those were definitely drunk posts. I let it dry initially for about 2 hours or more. When the screen started spazzing out I left the battery out overnight and this morning it turned back on. About to head to radioshack to see what their stock looks like.
6/6/2010 4:31:18 PM
did my first full day of usage on my EVO. unplugged it in the morning and used it all day, didn't charge it over night... when i got up it still had like 10% battery. played some more and it finally died. i wasn't doing anything crazy but this seems like plenty of battery for me, especially if i can give it a little bonus charge here and there (car, at work, etc)
6/6/2010 5:42:50 PM
Define using it all day.
6/6/2010 5:48:01 PM
I'm going with barely used it at all. All others reports are that it's only slightly better than the Incredible. And the battery life for the Froyo rom is decent OC'd to 900MHz. Had it off the charger since 9 and have 40% left with moderate usage. Been running it for over 24hrs now and Froyo runs great. Has native usb tethering but no wifi tethering without one of the rooted wireless tether apps. 3d app drawer works perfectly and screen transitions are smooth. Tried youtube in the browser with flash and it runs ok but the app or regular mobile site is better. For anyone who is flashing it, be sure to connect to wifi as soon as you sign in cause the rom will download and install all of your previous apps.Quandrant Standard Benchmark app results at 1GHz[Edited on June 6, 2010 at 8:13 PM. Most of my love for the Evo comes from how nice SenseUI is in terms of usability as well as the general app responsiveness. I was destroying my G1 by toggling between the browser and other apps on it was super slow. The Evo is instant with everything and pages seem to stay loaded. I can't imagine Froyo being any faster. The video quality on it from a video I loaded was super high and the sound quality from MP3s and streaming is also really good. Will be interested to try and watch a movie on my trip.I've not had any issues with it yet.
6/7/2010 7:59:08 AM
the water issue I had has all but dried up in two spots. I may still exchange it for a new one if it doesn't clear up 100%.
6/7/2010 8:20:00 AM
I'm going up to verizon this week or next. Which plan should I be looking for? How much will it be a month after the fees and everything?
6/7/2010 8:20:58 AM
^^^ I agree....Ive never had a phone that didnt lag when running multiple programs so, in my eyes, this phone is pretty damn good. The battery lasts most of the day with 4g, wifi, and bluetooth turned off, even when using it consistently for a few hours. I plug it in the car anyways. ^^ thats good to hear. Any tips on getting that skin on? Ive never done one before.
6/7/2010 9:28:04 AM
^^probably $60-$80
6/7/2010 10:30:23 AM
I love LauncherPro, but it weirdly opens up a web browser occasionally when I sleep the phone (as in, when I come back it has a browser window open).
6/7/2010 10:59:57 AM
^^ ha, that's a little low unless you have an employee discount. The minimum you'd pay each month would be ~$75 with 450 min+data. If you text, then you're probably looking at closer to $100 with unlimited texting.
6/7/2010 11:05:38 AM
yea, mines at $80 or so, but i know of people who have plans as low as $70
6/7/2010 12:10:32 PM
I was at $72 with a 20% discount on 450min, unlimited data, 250 texts, insurance taxes and fees. Before the discount, I was at $92 with the same plan and 500 texts.
6/7/2010 12:52:08 PM
So some people's experiences on here with the evo seem to refute what the reviews are saying. Also, I found out the N1 doesn't have a front-facing camera. So wondering, if anyone else has the Everything Data Family 1500 plan, how much does it run with taxes & fees (without discounts)? Those fuckers wanted me to come down there when the Pre came out, so I'm not even bothering calling this time.

So what is the official TWW verdict on Phone Insurance?I figure I should be okay with a decent case - I've had my previous phone for 4 years and never had any bad drops (although a Razr is obviously more durable than an Incredible).I've also heard the insurance they try to get you to buy is a scam...
6/7/2010 3:33:12 PM
i've had it just because at like 3 bucks a month it's really not a budget breaker i'd rather get it and be safe than have my phone break for whatever reason and have to pay several hundred for a new one]
6/7/2010 3:49:57 PM
True, $3/month isn't a big deal (of course it might be higher than that, I'm not sure),but I've heard stories where you have to pay a $200 deductible and end up with a refurbished phone anyways.I wonder if my renter's insurance can replace my phone...[Edited on June 7, 2010 at 3:55 PM. Reason : .]
6/7/2010 3:54:25 PM
I know with at&t you pay 50 bucks and get a new phone. I think with t-mobile it's free, at least that's what my friend with t-mobile told me.
6/7/2010 5:14:53 PM
I believe it's $6 or $7 on verizon and sprint for the accidental damage plans. The extended warranty plan is pretty much useless cause who really keeps their phone 2 years now with annual upgrades, alternate upgrades and other offers. The deducible on non-manufacturing related issues is about $90 on Verizon and you get a refurbished phone.[Edited on June 7, 2010 at 5:42 PM. Reason : ]

Is there a site like Appshopper, but for the Android Marketplace? Note: for those who are not familiar with it, Appshopper tracks App Store prices and lets you register and add apps you want to you "wish list." When prices drop, it emails you.
6/7/2010 6:20:33 PM
^^ Maybe I'm different since I'm on a corporate plan but I pay $5/mo. for Accidental & $50 deductible. Since I work in the construction field and never know where I'm going to be or what I'm going to be doing, it's a no-brainer. If I was in an office 100% of the time or something then I would possibly reconsider. As is, I'm in the field 10-80% of a week so...
6/7/2010 6:55:26 PM
Its outta stock everywhere.. where can I go n get the Evo?
6/7/2010 8:18:22 PM
Any suggestions on screen protectors? The ones I used with my iPhone always ended up with a few bubbles underneath I couldnt get rid of...wondering if theres any that are easier to affix without getting bubbles.
6/8/2010 4:06:54 AM
I don't mean this to sound mean, but if you get bubbles you're doing it wrong.
