your second link acts as if both interpretations are of equal footing. one of those interpretations is the same as the federal governments.

the interpretation from federal government is that the woman who was killed was a domestic terrorist

I was thinking more in the context of when it becomes impossible to ignore and the disinterested suddenly become interested, spurring collective action on the part of the populace such that Congresspeople become fearful for their re-election (assuming we're still going to have those) and start actually doing their job with some teeth. Think about it like this. Someone posts the video of Iryna, the girl on the metro in Charlotte killed last year. In her terrified state with her neck sliced open by a homeless psychotic black assailant.

The people consuming it are rightly angry and pissed off. Some people are pissed at the city for being too lenient and letting out violent psychopaths, and some would probably draw a lynch mob and start racially killing.

Do you still think there is no place for context and taking a breather when some algorithm or powerful agency puts something in front of your screen to manipulate and influence you?

If you think a raw video makes it so your critical thinking can shut off you need to just go outside and meditate for a few years, then maybe pick up "Public Opinion", "Propaganda", and "Amusing Ourselves to Death". As Q says, critical thinking needs to be turned to 11, not to 0.
