I don't think anyone on our roster is getting paid close to what OTE is paying him (supposedly north of $300k this season). Doubt our people would/could pony up that kind of moola for a freshman who wouldn't get significant minutes.

Ok I realize this is a dumb question but why is he making so much from OTE if he’s not good enough to play for us yet? Clearly the staff went out and got more experienced guys to help bridge the gap and fill in until he’s more experienced and ready. But wtf is he doing to make 300k at OTE?

This isn’t a case of me arguing against the players making money. I just don’t really get where these numbers come from. Is 300k really his market value for OTE even though he wouldn’t crack a mid tier P5 rotation?

He’s got a huge social media presence and gets them a lot of clicks/pub with his highlights. I think most of the kids on OTE are getting six figures.

College sports has got to be headed there eventually. NIL is a fine start but doesn’t feel like a long term solution. But putting these dues on salary is the best thing long term.

That said, I don’t understand enough about what OTE even is to be able to understand how they are making so much money off these high schoolers that most of us have never heard of. It’s not like they’re all 5* future lottery picks. I don’t get it. But I also think it’s pretty awesome if they can afford to pay 16-18 year olds 100k+

I mean we're playing 4 road/neutral games against P5 teams which will all likely be quad 2 games at worst. The rest of the schedule is fine. Mostly 200ish NET teams (besides the dumpster fires that are citadel/charleston southern) which is pretty much what everyone else does.

I mean i guess we could play a bunch of true road games against top 150 schools with no return games. That would make our NET better. But there's almost no incentive to play fringe top 150 teams at home because slight variations in ratings push those to Q4 games and them you end up with a MUCH tougher schedule (still without "marquee" home games) without any significant difference from the schedule we have now. Playing a bunch of 200s teams is fine. We (hopefully) aren't playing 5-6 300+ teams this year.

Kam Woods still needs a waiver to be eligible this year. And it seems like the NCAA is not tightening up on some of the waivers they’ll grant. I have no #sources but am kinda expecting Woods to not get a waiver based on how the NCAA is treating football waivers at the moment.
