We didn’t have a QB to reliably get him the ball
1/13/2020 10:52:37 PM
I’m sure we have 0% chance of getting him. But D’Eriq King, QB from Houston, is transferring.
1/13/2020 11:09:41 PM
They're just finishing the 3rd quarter. It's 11:30.
1/13/2020 11:31:44 PM
NFL is pretty good about a game fitting in the 3-3.5 hour window. College football hasn’t figured that out at all yet. I know styles are different and that makes a difference. But the commercial breaks and length of halftime are brutal for a game like this.
1/13/2020 11:36:07 PM
It's only 10:36 in Baton Rouge
1/13/2020 11:36:48 PM
If you can't play a 60 minute game in 3 hours, something is wrong. There's no need for 8 billion commercial breaks.

Chase Brice set to visit Duke soon, per N&O. I'm still hoping we pick up a grad transfer of some sort, and Brice would certainly be nice, but with Cutcliffe's recent success with Daniel Jones Duke certainly seems like a good choice.

^^ Listen, there's nothing wrong with being gay.But... That Penn State hazing is weirdly and ultra-aggressively homosexual.

I feel like its all over the place. It was always my greatest fear as a basketball player in my high school years. Especially at live-in camps. Nothing ever happened but I was a smaller player and the bigger/older guys always messed around talked about butt stuff as jokes. I never showered in locker rooms and always just put my clothes back on top of my sweaty uniform. There were a bunch of others like me.I always heard football was much worse.

Mark Dantonio steps down as Michigan State’s head coach today to retire and focus on his family. Maybe they could steal away Clawson from Wake so we could finally beat them.
2/4/2020 8:29:49 PM
Dantonio had a contract bonus of $4M+ kick in if he was still the coach after 1/15/2020. Getcha money, coach

since there wasn't a 2020 or 2021 thread...is Harbaugh about to get a lifetime contract? lol
11/27/2021 3:21:49 PM
pulling for themdon’t know why OSU has been afraid to go for 2 while down 15

^^it's never too late to start one
11/27/2021 3:45:38 PM
I think they just restructured Harbaugh’s contract in the off season to basically give him a lower buyout. But if they make the CFP, I’m sure he’ll get a nice extension. Maybe even get one even if they don’t make the playoff.
11/27/2021 5:33:15 PM
Lincoln Riley to USC. Seems like a pretty big deal.
11/29/2021 6:14:02 AM
Definitely a move that surprised me
11/29/2021 8:14:48 AM
I like the move just from an overall CFB perspective. With OU moving to the SEC soon, maybe Riley moving to the Pac12 will balance out the sport a little more. OU will still be a national power without him, of course. But it seems bad for the sport to have like 5 of the 10 best/most relevant teams all in the same conference. If USC can get back to being a powerhouse (or anybody in the Pac12, really) , I think that provides some needed balance to the overall landscape. Or maybe I’m just overthinking all of this idk.
11/29/2021 8:25:23 AM
college football is going to be completely different in a few years. conference will probably mean less and less.
11/29/2021 8:33:33 AM
11/29/2021 9:08:36 AM
^^ unless there’s major overhaul, I think P5 conferences will continue to matter a great deal. Especially as the playoff expands….maybe automatic bids for conference winners. And the way TV deals and TV money is working currently, conference affiliation is going to really be important just from a revenue standpoint. But yes, when you have 18 team super leagues - winning the conference becomes that much harder and arguably less important since the CFP will expand and it’ll be easier to make the playoff for those fringe level elite teams like Penn State or TAMU or whoever else fits that mold. And an expanded playoff makes that a more attainable goal and probably becomes the measuring stick of success for lots of programs. Similar to making the NCAAT in basketball. Conference success matters but the tournament/playoff is the “big dance”. [Edited on November 29, 2021 at 9:18 AM. Reason : A]

I don't think Riley was in favor of Oklahoma moving to the SEC. He should be able to do well at USC with no other competition in that part of the country.
11/29/2021 11:34:46 AM
Two SEC schools just fired coaches that A) won a Natty 2 years ago and went 51-20 and B) Was in the SEC title game last year and went 35-15. Also LOL at Oklahoma pissed fans at a coach leaving for greener pastures when, checks notes, Oklahoma did the same thing leaving for the SEC.[Edited on November 29, 2021 at 11:39 AM. Reason : .]

To be fair, Orgeron is a terrible head coach.[Edited on November 29, 2021 at 11:52 AM. Reason : Like I wouldn't want him here if Big Game Dave ever left]
11/29/2021 11:51:44 AM
Yeah Coach O caught lightning in a bottle there. But it was pretty evident he lost whatever magic they had. And Dan Mullen appeared to just lose total control really quickly at UF. Didn’t help that his recruiting was looking bad this year.
11/29/2021 1:49:09 PM
Riley has destroyed OU football in a matter of hours.
11/29/2021 2:47:14 PM
Sure, if you base all your beliefs on Twitter posts

Brian Kelly to LSU. Wow, seems like a strange fit for both sides. But LSU was determined to make a splash hire. And maybe Kelly likes his chances to win a title at LSU better than at ND. Crazy to have UF, OU, USC, LSU, ND all open this cycle.
11/29/2021 8:15:51 PM
Hahahahahaha LSUMy favorite Brian Kelly memory is him stubbornly continuing to call deep passes in a goddamn hurricane.]

Curious to see who comes to Duke/VT. Tech is always quiet about their coaching hires and while there's a lot of rumors, a lot of them seem like there's a lot of risk. Duke is too recent to have much other than potential names floating around out there, but I can't imagine they do anything other than find a successful G5 coach who's been itching to make it big, or maybe a dispossessed assistant coach somewhere else. They need a big turnaround and some serious Mac Brown type energy to get anything done.
11/30/2021 8:04:07 AM
Riley to USC was a nearly unprecedented move in modern football. And like 24 hours later Brian Kelly makes a comparable move. Crazy.Sounds like ND really likes their DC Marcus Freeman as a future HC. But I’d think they’d go after somebody with some experience. Like Fickell seems pretty obvious. Matt Campbell would surely be a candidate for some of these jobs. Maybe Josh Heupel. Mark Stoops. Kinda seems like several more P5 jobs could open up as dominos continue to fall. [Edited on November 30, 2021 at 8:27 AM. Reason : A]

I've heard rumors the ND staff is looking at him but nothing substantial. I still think we need to give him another year or 2 but early returns aren't my favorite

So it sounds like Pitt has some flu issues they’re dealing with. I don’t remember ever hearing much about a flu going around a team. Obviously it’s flu season and its contagious. But are we just more aware of this stuff because of covid? FSU, BC, UF, and now Pitt all come to mind as having pretty publicly had flu stuff going on in between games. Also It feels like we throw “flu” around to describe any illness whether or not it’s actually the flu.
