This is not in any way working in Trump's favor. Fox News has been running critical segments, a few GOP House members have condemned Trump, Trump is tweeting about civil war, Russia is now taunting Trump about call transcripts, Trump proxies fell completely flat on their faces in Sunday morning shows... this is what we all envisioned would happen with the Mueller report.

Volker has resigned due to this, Barr has distances himself from Guiliani... this is a complete disaster for Trump at this point.

Banjo seems to be the only one who understands how this has worked for the last several years. Trump takes advantage of the media's lack of credibility but for this strategy to be most effective, he HAS to give them ammunition to attack him with. If the media isn't attacking him, then he cannot be viewed as a contrasting power that is "opposite" of the media in the minds of voters. Sometimes, this even applies to fox. Its like this. If most MSM is attacking him, he's a good republican, but if even fox is attacking him its amplified because it means, he's unlike any other politician and probably draining the swamp. He needs to be viewed outside of everything in DC, even republicans.

That brings me to the deep state. The deep state is hypothetically bipartisan and has had a stranglehold over the country for a long time. When people say "drain the swamp", they are talking about the deep state, not capitalists in cabinet positions. Draining the swamp is the one campaign promise Trump has not delivered so he needed this scandal. He's already gone after Hillary and she is irrelevant so What better way to check off that box than to go after the next biggest swamp politician? Now he gets to use the "everybody vs Trump" narrative as if he and his supporters are fighting the ultimate fight against the deep state, media, and democrats.

When he talks about "spies" and the whistleblower, he's hinting deep state.

Also there was only one whistleblower and the statements are not consistent. Why weren't there more whistleblowers? Why did the Ukrainian president clear him when he could have leveraged this to get better deals? and what a blunder by schiff making up a fake dialogue to read to congress. The mueller accusations were actually pretty serious. Trump's winning this one easily and the worse its made out to be the better it will end up for him.

If they know they can't win the election and know they can't remove him from office, maybe they are only impeaching him with the weak stuff so that they can turn some of these contested senate seats and take a majority in the senate in the aftermath of Trump's acquittal. Then they could start over next term and actually have better odds to remove him on a second impeachment with live ammunition.

^^Obviously a removal by the senate is the only way this could go wrong for trump but that also happens to be the most improbable outcome. This entire thing could just be a way to get more votes in the senate for Trump's second term but i still don't see them reaching 67. Its such at all task but at least they could take a senate majority by forcing out contested GOP senators. At worst, it seems like Trump having his hands tied in his 2nd term because of all of this.

i bet they would be in the 50s right now but they are still prolly 15-25 senators away from removal. If you ignore the improbable idea of his removal, worst case for trump is losing senate. that just means he won't get to pick the next scotus if there is one in the next 4 years.

Trump is awful but so are the democratic leaders and the entire political establishment. The media are awful too. They all created each other and we are all victims of all of them. The entire system born out of criminality is awful. I'm not cheering for Pelosi I'm cheering for the entire system to collapse.
