I've seen this and it is disturbing to read their tweets and scroll through their feeds.

Regardless, I think they've gone the right way in their policies regarding speech, or at least it is good to have some variability among the platforms in how they're run, even if I may not find myself in total agreement. Mark Cuban is doing lord's work calling out Musk all the time.

My main worry is not people being converted to Nazism, but the mental health effects for those who aren't able or aware enough to differentiate this from real life and start carrying a heavy heart. If one uses these platforms for hours and starts ingraining the messages of the 0.001% who appear to be like 10%, it is depressing.

I hope Musk somehow is freed from encouraging all this bullshit.

As for his plan
1) Probably a good idea to get the government out of pushing online platforms one way or another regarding speech
2) Obviously a justification for a purge. No real "crime" of censorship, but that won't stop him from using it as a pretext for firing people who aren't sufficiently loyal to him
3) Most likely an unworkable policy that will destroy US tech firms. At best it's going to be "you get no immunity if you moderate at all." Not a great idea...

Zuck and Bezos clearly saw what's coming given the decisions in the last few months. No moderation would be bad and can't see that happening. The Internet would turn into 4chan at worst and 2005 Frosh posts at best. While 4chan looks refreshing if you're in 2021 Twitter world, I hope it would be an opt in feature that was off by default.
