Grew up a Purdue fan.

That was the most Purdue game ever. The saying of here of "that's N.C. State shit", "Purdue shit" is a related cousin. Go out, play great, awesome lead, up 51-33, suddenly you can't play defense, make a shot, the center is getting destroyed underneath, no one can make a free throw all game, meanwhile the star who has been incredibly frustrating at times this season is not performing that well at the moment, but there's this role player that can just drain the outside shot at will and singlehandedly kept Purdue in the game when Tennessee was scoring every single possession, then we're down 2 with 2 seconds left and star player who hadn't made free throws all game has 3 of them to either win, tie, or lose. He misses the 1st taking the win out of the picture. Then makes the next 2 and the game's in overtime.

Most up-and-down emotional roller coaster of a college basketball game I've watched in awhile.

I figured Purdue would be in for 2nd round exit. They're a good team and as the Villanova game showed, when they're on, they are awesome. What sucks is when they're off, they and Edwards are the most retched to watch. Feel like Elite 8 for this team is playing with house money at this point. Virginia doesn't scare me really. I think it's more the games from this point are Purdue choosing to either win or lose based on their performance shooting the ball instead of the opposition imposing their will on them.

NCST just doesn't make any fucking sense. It's a remnant of the Marye Anne Fox days though, she was the one that pushed for everything to be branded as "NC State". The score ticker NCST was part of that and now it will never go away, even though no other State school is represented that way. You don't see MST or AST, because they don't make any sense.

Yes it does matter for future recruiting. Look at Houston and Georgetown in the 80s and how dominant they were for years. Had Georgetown won 3 of those championships they played in instead of one they would potentially be college basketball royalty right now and still recruiting at a high rate. As of now they are just a good program. Ohio State has a ton of Final Fours, but only one national championship. At the end of the day people remember who won more than who lost, and any edge we can have in the future to help dethrone them I will take. Just look at how Clemson football is recruiting now and before they won the first of the their most recent 2 championships.

Yeah I get that. I mean, winning is better than losing of course. But I guess I’m just saying that they’re a perennial top 5-10 team already showing no signs of slowing. So we’re already dealing with them as a national powerhouse. Also we don’t really go head to head with UVa for recruits. But still...I know it matters.

You have to get lucky, usually repeatedly, to win the tournament. You just do. UVA is winning it.

Two years ago, UNC should have lost to Arkansas, then Kentucky, then that Polish guy from Gonzaga missed like 6 layups in the title game. And Meeks was out of bounds and it wasn't called.

I usually am anti-UVa. But their offense is prettier than MSU and TT’s imo. Either way, the title game will be ugly and physical. Probably in the low 60s.
