It was actually Justin that settled the issue long ago.

Actually, I thought he would be a perfectly serviceable backup QB. I was apparently mistaken.

Unfortunately I don’t think he has the arm strength for the NFL, but hope he proves me wrong.

Here you go Justin. Argue with this guy.

Quote :
"Outstanding efficiency during the preseason doesn't always translate to success in the regular season, though the traits Finley has displayed do.

Finley shined because of a combination of poise, pocket navigation, anticipation and an understanding of what the defense gives him. He knows how to run an offense. In some ways, Finley is Matt Ryan-esque in his approach. There's nothing fancy about it, but it's usually effective. He worked from under center (three-, five- and seven-step drops), shotgun and play action. He completed timing passes and deep in routes into tight windows. "

i would be highly surprised if finley ever started another game, he is statistically the worst QB in the NFL this year.

are you sure "highly surprised" is what you were looking for there?

because its crazy to think he has started the last reg season game of his NFL career already

I don't think I've ever wanted anything as much as Justin wants Finley to fail. I've never seen an nc state fan rooting so hard against an nc state player.

Also cincy prob has the worst oline in the league.

Was not a huge Finley fan but dude was solid college QB who just wasn't clutch.

But to hate on him for not doing well on the worst team in the league is nuts.

EXTRY, EXTRY

Rookie takes starting gig for winless team, Also doesn't win any games!

shit man how did he not take advantage of the elite talents of John Ross and Auden Tate, the table is fucking set for him.

EDIT:
seriously justin, this bullshit you perpetrate is a Dean Koontz gypsy's curse ensuring we never get a qb worthy of favorable mention EVER again. and fuck me if i dont agree with the gypsy sometimes.

Just ignore Tyler Boyd. I mean Finley does, so you might as well too. Also he's had a healthy Tyler Eifert. But even the worst receiving corp (which isn't the Bengals) doesn't account for completion percentages below 50%, 5 YPA and 5 turnovers. The guy has no pocket awareness and can't read NFL coverages.

I'm just going to assume you haven't watched him play this year, since you thought John Ross was playing, so your opinion is worthless. Blindly supporting a guy who clearly isn't an NFL QB is a great look for you.

And yes, me posting my unpopular opinion about Finley on an archaic (but beloved) internet message board that no one under the age of 30 knows exists is the reason why our current QBs suck and why they will continue to suck for all eternity.

Also, I bet you liked Marcus Stone.

[Edited on November 25, 2019 at 10:18 PM. Reason : Chris Weinke had a better rookie year than Finley]

Hell yes I liked Marcus Stone. A team player who changed positions and stayed on the team while he watched Daniel Evans take his spot— if that isn’t worthy of admiration I don’t know what else to say.

What you should have said, was I bet you liked Harrison Beck.

Points for being a soggy dick and taking time to refute my premise where a mystic antagonist from a B squad horror writer cursed us because you are lacking in both perspective and loyalty. I mean, can’t you have some goddamn fun and we all laugh about how shitty mass market horror of the 80s and 90s was?

Also you know what? While Akili Smith as a player comp to Finley could not be any more inaccurate, I bet Akili could have been a good NFL qb if he didn’t land in a shitty situation. Maybe if he had another year starting in college might have helped too. He was a talented player, like all these guys that come out, but sometimes the fit isn’t right and you end up looking like a dipshit. Truly, that comparison describes your brand of bummer takes to perfection.

Bengals back in #1 pick contention!

Also, i never saw this
Quote :
"A team player who changed positions and stayed on the team while he watched Daniel Evans take his spot— if that isn’t worthy of admiration I don’t know what else to say."

but there's so much wrong with it. First, Daniel Evans was a better QB than Stone, despite the fact that physically he had no business playing division 1 football. Second, here is a direct quote from Marcus Stone: "I wish I would have had my shot at quarterback [at NCSU], back when I got changed out [to tight end]. I feel that would have been my best shot to play pro football." The guy was delusional and still thought he could be an NFL QB. Apparently being on the roster as a QB for 4 years and playing for 3 with no established starter in front of you is not getting a shot at QB. If he had switched to TE earlier, such as say before his RS-soph year when it was clear to everyone else he was a bad QB, he'd probably have made some NFL money.

Don't think it's been mentioned here but Ryan's back to starting. Hasn't set things on fire but has been serviceable.

Playcallers clearly don't trust him though -- seems to be a mostly run first scheme. He has fit a few nice throws in but has been kinda all over the place.
