NC State shit....We gonna get probation and No NCAA Tourney for a couple years right as we begin to head in the right direction.
4/10/2018 7:54:21 PM
As long as we can show that at some point in history Adidas has paid $40K to someone not connected to student athletes I think we'll be good here.
4/10/2018 8:22:14 PM
having a dumbass coaching staff that doesn't know how to cheat properly isn't nc state shit. it's ineptitude.[Edited on April 11, 2018 at 7:03 AM. Reason : leave this shit to the bag men. ]
4/11/2018 7:00:37 AM
Apparently the filing implied the coaches did it in a way specifically designed to hide from the university, seems like that should help. Especially since the charge is defrauding the University.
4/11/2018 7:10:18 AM
And we are getting sued too:http://www.wralsportsfan.com/former-athletics-staffer-sues-nc-state-alleges-discrimination/17477872/Interesting that they hired Bobby's daughter as a tutor. My boss used to work with him at UNC Charlotte and said he was the king of dirty deeds there. I just looked his daughter up on FB and she lists her job as Adidas now.
4/11/2018 8:11:27 AM
NCState shit is UNC skating after decades of admitted academic fraud and then giving the bird to the NCAA, while we get nailed to the wall for paying a player that contributed next to nothing to our basketball program.
4/11/2018 8:26:38 AM
Yeah, but that dunk after time expired against Duke was pretty sweet.Just glad to see Gott was at least trying to compete against the top programs. I would like to see this investigation include Nike.

4/11/2018 9:14:00 AM
i'm really not too worried about this...it's unfortunate. but like ^ said, DSJ is gone and Gott and staff are gone. we can vacate whatever we need to and i don't really care. i'd just hate for this to linger for a while...wish it would be done. but i think it'll drag out.
4/11/2018 9:40:39 AM
yeah I don't think much will come from this outside of vacating 2016-17 season. they'd pretty much have to prove that our staff and maybe even the athletics department / university was complicit in this, or that we were grossly incompetent for being unaware. from day one it sounds like our stance has been that it was a "rogue agent" and that the university took steps to distance themselves from the people involved, and now it looks like the people involved took steps to hide it from the university. the staff/coach is gone, other bigger/bluer programs are implicated, and as ^ said, this will probably take years to play out unless they hand down a penalty (like vacating last year) that we can stomach right off the bat and don't try to fight in court.

Yeah I only read the first page initially, just saw the more detailed are on reddit. So yeah...that's not good, haha.

just a rogue coach, nbd
4/11/2018 10:12:41 AM
hahahahahaha, we fucking paid recruits for those results
4/11/2018 10:21:00 AM
I hope we don't get a post-season ban. Who gives a shit if we have vacate the minuscule number of wins in the Dennis Smith year.
4/11/2018 10:23:50 AM
go figure David Glenn spent way to long ranting about how the new allegations are really really bad for NCSU, because, you know, he has a law degree. This is the same guy who was a total UNC apologist during their investigation, now he's giving a doom and gloom scenario for us. Seriously, fuck that guy so hard.
4/11/2018 3:07:59 PM
Lol, you listen to David Glenn
4/11/2018 3:11:44 PM
I just hope they don’t take away our bass fishing trophies.
4/11/2018 3:29:52 PM
I, for one, hope the ACC goes ahead and lays out some harsh penalties against us. Go ahead and be proactive before the NCAA/FBI can do anything.[Edited on April 11, 2018 at 3:42 PM. Reason : Swofford is a fair man]

Maybe we can get Adidas to admit that they also paid regular students at NC State..so it wasn't an athlete specific advantage. That defense is proven to work.

So just to be safe lets ban Keatts for life.Roy? Eh, he's just a good old boy. He didn't know any better over there at Carolina. Lets cut him some dadgum slack. He's earned it.
4/25/2018 10:28:13 AM
UNC lawyers fucked NCAA so hard they are restructuring. Wow. Must have been Duke grads.
4/25/2018 11:12:59 AM
I get that ^^ you’re being facetious but even then...Why would Keatts get banned? He has hasn’t been connected to anything at UL or State.

So, from reading about Brian Bowen Sr.'s testimony, it seems like this case is less about some massive conspiracy to pay players and more about a shitty father essentially pimping out his talented kid. I kinda feel sorry for that kid.

no discussion on this? do the recent developments hurt, or is it nothing new? what kind of penalty do we think we're looking at? come on guys, it's bye week and I'm bored. don't make me look for discussion on PackPride
10/12/2018 5:05:25 PM
the new developments don't help since it directly involved a member of the staff (Early). but i also don't think it's anything we didn't already know, right? correct me if i'm wrong...but i thought that was already known. i guess it's a new distinction that Early delivered the money rather than just arranging it/knowing about it.as far as punishment...who knows. i still think the biggest thing they'll do is make us forfeit that season. maybe slap us with a fine or something, but i don't see any postseason ban or anything like that.[Edited on October 12, 2018 at 5:34 PM. Reason : g]
10/12/2018 5:32:03 PM
I mean it's pretty much a guarantee that the season is forfeited because he was ineligible due to taking money but no great loss there. Show cause potentially for Early or Gottfried, though the funny thing is that California recently ruled that a show cause penalty is basically illegal there so Gott could actually get out of it.The problem by having a coach involved is basically the NCAA can basically make a Failure to Monitor or LOIC charge against the program which would hurt. I don't think a postseason ban is likely with the bad press the NCAA has been taking lately about hurting players who have nothing to do with it (what carolina basically whined about for years). But it could see some scholarship reductions which would be the biggest longterm risk and happened to UNC football for some of the benefits stuff. That hurts more in BBall due to the fewer players.Anyway UNC created the playbook for how to handle this is to just fight, fight, fight, and drag out and play the victim the whole time. Key difference here is that there is actual on the record trial evidence and testimony for the NCAA to use. With the UNC stuff basically all the "cooperation" from Nyangoro and Crowder happened behind closed doors and the DA didn't act with any real charges on anything.tldr Debbie should just come out say we forfeit that season and the University didn't find any wrongdoing with anybody beyond Early and dare the NCAA to do anything else lest they want to fight every little bit of it in court.
10/12/2018 5:47:58 PM
I mean our compliance office said under oath that they had no knowledge of any payments. I think we'll be fine.Wouldn't surprise me if the coaches involved in this like Early get lifetime bans from the NCAA.
10/12/2018 6:29:08 PM
^yeah but its the whole "should have known" that gets you a failure to monitor or LOIC chargeDon't think its likely and the NCAA probably wants to just sweep this all under the rug anyway since it strikes at the core of the amateur model. But if they wanted to pick one program to make an example of from all this we would be a target before some of the others.
10/12/2018 6:49:27 PM
10/17/2018 2:29:29 PM
That shouldn’t be a surprise. I don’t doubt that there are some top schools that don’t do this. But are we really supposed to believe this was only an adidas problem? I have no idea if UNC and/or Duke are involved, they may be clean. But Nike schools are surely involved just as much as adidas.
10/17/2018 4:20:49 PM
Well yeah, Arizona and USC are Nike schools.
10/17/2018 5:17:59 PM
Right but because adidas is at the heart of this, I feel like it gets presented as an adidas and adidas school problem.
