I don't know what races I am going to this year. I may be back home in Iowa the week of the Knoxville Nationals, so I might try to see that. I have a friend who wants to go to Martinsville for NASCAR. I could go stay with my sister in Richmond and either see a NASCAR race, or go to the NHRA event that was moved their from NJ just a few weeks ago. All of my friends and family said they wouldn't mind going to the 4 Wide Nationals in Charlotte. The IMSA race in VIR might be interesting too. I'm thinking I might start a league rotation and go see a different league every year.

My brother and I are going to Phoenix in a couple weeks. Wanted to see a race there before they change the configuration.Probably doing spring Martinsville, spring Richmond, and the roval. My brother and his friends are planning to do spring Talladega. I may join them if that pans out.
2/20/2018 4:54:21 PM
^They are changing Phoenix? What are they doing to it?
2/20/2018 5:50:23 PM
moving the start/finish line
2/20/2018 6:10:26 PM
that got me thinking they should put the start finish line at apex of turn one so if its really close may have to run into the fence to beat another car. [Edited on February 20, 2018 at 6:54 PM. Reason : g]
2/20/2018 6:54:04 PM
They should have a start/finish line randomizer that decides where it'll be with 5 to go[Edited on February 20, 2018 at 7:09 PM. Reason : This idea is no stupider than the overtime line was. ]
2/20/2018 7:09:12 PM
^I liked the OT line. Once you pass it you are the winner, if the caution comes out. That is actually needed with the demolition derbies we are treated to at the ends of races these days.
2/20/2018 10:09:05 PM
I expected no less from you

I've been camping out for the 600 for close to a decade now, and it's been fairly depressing to watch campground and race attendance go from jam packed to deader than disco in that length of time. I might skip it this year and do Darlington instead.
2/21/2018 8:01:52 AM
Call this guy for a camping spot. It's $100. They're super nice folks. Short walk to the track. http://tracksidecamping.net/contact.html

I'm late but had been travelling and managed to watch the race last night without getting the result spoiled, so yay for me.-plate racing in a nutshell-that race, it's one giant clusterfuck that has no bearing on the rest of the season-yeah, stage racing is so great, we're halfway through the race and most of the contenders are gone-Fox didn't mention this at all (more on them in a second), but before the stage finishes everyone 15th to 20th on back intentionally stayed some seconds back of the lead group to not get caught up in the wreck, which did happen-talking actual racing, I thought it was an actual improvement, cars at the back end of the lead draft could and did lose the lead draft-I stick up for the little guy, but 12 or so to go you have Brendan Gaughan, Chris Buescher, and Matt DiBenedetto in the top 7. Almirola led with half a lap to go and had done absolutely nothing to that point the whole race.-Fox had a bad broadcast. What matters most in a plate race as far as consequences is losing the lead draft and running by yourself. They very rarely tackled this. Larson at one point looking at the timing went from back of the lead draft to a lap down. What happened? No idea. And this is later in the race where one less car in the lead draft means one less contender for the win, and before Byron's wreck that screwed up everything it was down to 14 I think.-Also, they had 2 larger wrecks, 2 big long prearranged caution breaks, other caution periods, and Fox had to have 4 commercial breaks late in the race in about a 20 to 25 lap span when it looked like Stage 3 would go green the whole time. That's bad management by the director.-Mark Thompson and D.J. Kennington finished ahead of Kyle Busch.[Edited on February 23, 2018 at 7:56 AM. Reason : .]
2/23/2018 7:51:51 AM
Last car in the draft had a hard time staying in the draft. Several drivers had that problem.
2/23/2018 8:24:02 AM
I do like the new left hand scoring ticker on fox but agree shitty production. Don't know why they want to show in car cameras so we miss moves of the other 38 cars not in shot[Edited on February 23, 2018 at 11:52 AM. Reason : Y]
2/23/2018 11:52:32 AM
^^ Yeah. That was a good thing. The guys up front passing each other back and forth is meaningless with no consequence. Losing the draft has consequence. 36 car entry for Atlanta (with 1 of those in bankruptcy court today trying to fend off it's engine and wheels suppliers). Smallest entry for a Cup race since Martinsville 1996. Xfinity meanwhile has 43.
2/23/2018 12:11:57 PM
Lmao! Kyle Busch had a wheel fall off after he left the pit at the end.
2/24/2018 6:48:21 PM
his guys were real slow with the right front. So the rear tire changer had already taken lugnuts off of the left rear when the guys on the right front got done putting the tire on. When they dropped the jack on the right side and went around the front of the truck, he pulled off...lol. Tire rolled off as he was going around turn 1
2/24/2018 10:53:46 PM
As funny as that was, going to suck if bowyer loses his jack man for 3 races. It was a SHR pit crew and suspensions cross series weather forecast is about as bad as could be for today and tomorrow morning [Edited on February 25, 2018 at 5:38 AM. Reason : d]

Harvick bitch!
2/25/2018 7:06:55 PM
Great race. Had that old school feel with the long green flag runs, the field strung way out, and guys adjusting on the cars and working their way up.
2/25/2018 7:52:48 PM
I was noticing how few cars there were on the lead lap late in the run and thinking how that wasn't uncommon in the 90s. Been awhile since we've seen that.
2/25/2018 9:37:43 PM
Free pickle chips tomorrow when you buy a drink at hooters.http://www.hooters9.com

Went and ate my pickle chips. Now I'm full. I may need to start running again.

3/2/2018 6:51:49 AM
kyle busch is an assthe truck race will prob be the best race of the weekend as per usual
3/3/2018 8:45:26 AM
Even with the shrub win, the truck race was great
3/3/2018 9:16:10 AM
Those slow backmarker trucks were dangerous last night. Being lapped every 5 laps should have been below minimum speed and been black flagged.
3/3/2018 9:28:49 AM
yeah, they shouldn't have been allowed to stay out there
3/3/2018 10:24:04 AM
^Joey Logano about ran all over whoever is in the 55 car this weekend during practice this morning. And that 55 car was just out there running normal laps
3/3/2018 4:05:04 PM
Looking at practice harvick could wax their asses again today
3/4/2018 11:07:41 AM
another las vegas snoozer
3/4/2018 6:45:34 PM
I havent watched a full race yet this season. Hell, you could add up all the time ive watched this season and it wouldnt equal 1 race. How many green flag passes for the lead was there at vegas and atlanta? 1? 2?
3/4/2018 9:23:46 PM
Elliott was in a wreck, so no wings or pickle chips tomorrow.
3/4/2018 9:44:25 PM
^^good question. i assume you mean "natural passes" which aren't associated with green flag pit stops, pit strategy, etc. need to ask David Smith. i think he tracks that statistic.[Edited on March 4, 2018 at 10:36 PM. Reason : natural lead changes, i mean]
3/4/2018 10:16:12 PM
Harvick finished in the top 10 yesterday, so Outback just posted on twitter, "free bloomin onion with your order today."
