I couldn't see Mayweather getting gased at all. I thought after a two year break he would be out of shape. He definitely played it out.
8/27/2017 1:16:09 AM
Mayweather could have done more early onm but he wasn't going to win until Conor got fatigued so it was going to take some rounds regardless. There is a reason why the Vegas total round o/u was in the 8-9 range, not the 3-5 range.
8/27/2017 1:16:13 AM
^^^ what's his nickname?
8/27/2017 1:21:08 AM
Cause he had a bet on the round count?[Edited on August 27, 2017 at 1:28 AM. Reason : Good job answering a question with a question tho]
8/27/2017 1:27:26 AM
there are plenty of reasons for him to want the fight to last longer than it should one of them is already playing out
8/27/2017 1:32:27 AM
Still not gonna answer the question eh?[Edited on August 27, 2017 at 1:34 AM. Reason : And also keep ignoring the fact Floyd got lit up in the early rounds, not by choice.]
8/27/2017 1:33:22 AM
Fight ended up in the best case scenario for all parties. Would've been nice if Mayweather didn't turn his back for the first 4 rounds every time he got in trouble but I'm sure he would have found a way to secure himself till later rounds. Everyone got paid, no one got duped like Pacquiao so I agreed with Floyd in that respect. He felt like he owed the fans a makeup and he delivered. All the while making more Texa$ than any athlete in history.
8/27/2017 1:39:02 AM
Ehhhhh Floyd could have ended it in the first, according to thegoodlife3
8/27/2017 1:42:00 AM
I'm glad I didn't have to pay to watch. Non-PPV events are usually more exciting.
8/27/2017 1:46:25 AM
aren't you usually super quick to call out strawmen when they don't fit your argument?[Edited on August 27, 2017 at 1:47 AM. Reason : debate terms are cool!!1]
8/27/2017 1:46:46 AM
I was pulling for my man from the homeland, but unless he did something in the first 6 rounds most people knew it was over. I don't know dick when it comes to boxing but Conor put in some work the first 3 rounds and was slowed down a little by the Floyd tactics. I can listen to an argument that Floyd held back on purpose (he did), but no way in hell could he have put him down before 6 rounds.
8/27/2017 1:46:59 AM
So in theory Conor is gonna keep boxing right..even if he doesn't dominate? Why MMA for peanuts when you can box for many more millions?]
8/27/2017 1:54:11 AM
That's the question... how does UFC transition at this point? Would McGregor even want to come back for relative peanuts? Rousey is done. Steroids prevalent with JBJ, begging to get Lesnar back to have another big draw. I'm not as big a UFC fan as I was when it started, but I'm definitely curious how they (big investors that recently purchased included) decide to move forward with the company.
8/27/2017 1:59:59 AM
UFC will still be a thing, but why fight for a corporation when you can fight for yourself? If you have the option of course...
8/27/2017 2:05:23 AM
How many rounds would these guys last against jeff horn tho?
8/27/2017 3:50:46 AM
The problem with him going to boxing is I (and plenty of others) no longer care to see him box. The spectacle was him vs Mayweather, how a great MMA fighter would do against an all time great boxer. While I was definitely impressed by McGregor and didnt think he would look that good, I have zero interest in seeing him box again. He got so much money because of the whole spectacle of this, he won't be that kind of draw for another boxing match. Also, the idea that Mayweather could have ended it whenever he wanted is a laughably bad take. He needed McGregor to get tired before he could do that. It was a great strategy and he executed it very well. I don't think he even thought McGregor would put up the fight he did though.
8/27/2017 8:16:51 AM
McGregor had his hands down for multiple rounds and Mayweather did nothing
8/27/2017 9:02:51 AM
Hey look, Mr. Boring Ass Defense got a knockout. Weird. It's like he's a good boxer or something.
8/27/2017 9:04:48 AM
lol at the drunk irish guy who got into the sportscenter segmenthttps://youtu.be/gPBb5hekBJY?t=9m30s
8/27/2017 9:54:22 AM
That has to be my favorite Stephen a moment.
8/27/2017 11:41:02 AM
^^^^ it's called strategy.^^^ Who claimed he wasn't?
8/27/2017 12:23:25 PM
letting an already tired fighter just stand there while not in a defensive stance is strategy?
8/27/2017 12:30:29 PM
Feeling our your opponent in the early rounds + not exposing yourself to attack while letting your opponent tire out is indeed strategy.[Edited on August 27, 2017 at 12:36 PM. Reason : Obviously Conor was trying to bait him]

8/27/2017 12:39:56 PM
8/27/2017 12:41:48 PM
he was pulling back some of his punches well after McGregor was gassed and leaving his hands down
8/27/2017 12:55:05 PM
I think it was a bit of a combination of both. I don't think Floyd had any plans to try to end it early that just isn't what he does. However, I also think he was a bit shocked and surprised by what McGregor was able to do those first 3 rounds or so he felt like he needed to play it safer just in case a lucky punch came through.
8/27/2017 8:41:38 PM
I would be more likely to watch macgregor box now, but that's because I prefer boxing to mma. Both sports need bigger draws tho
8/27/2017 8:49:39 PM
^This. It will be interesting to see if boxing has another mega star anytime soon.
8/27/2017 10:24:48 PM
I mean, a super fight is happening in 3 weeksGGG would absolutely demolish McGregor, in a scary way[Edited on August 27, 2017 at 10:30 PM. Reason : .]
8/27/2017 10:28:17 PM
mayweather never actually fought a real fighter in their prime. he's such a fraud.Prolly gonna ask for 500 million to fight horn.
8/27/2017 11:05:09 PM
8/27/2017 11:15:04 PM
he did toy around with him and beat him when he wanted to beat himMayweather dictated the fight...and comparing a 40 year old defensive boxer past his prime to a boxer in his prime who is a knockout specialist isn't an argument you wanna try and make[Edited on August 27, 2017 at 11:31 PM. 8/27/2017 11:30:58 PM
GGG would annihilate McGregor in a boxing match
8/27/2017 11:38:31 PM
^^ I must have missed the round where Mayweather did the following: "dance circles around McGregor and know exactly when to attack before McGregor knew what hit him"...of course unless you consider turning your back on your opponent to prevent getting beat in the head more as "dancing."
8/27/2017 11:46:52 PM
predictions that for the most part were truewhy in the world are you caping so hard for a dude who got knocked out?
8/28/2017 12:00:12 AM
8/28/2017 12:03:45 AM
I think you think McGregor did much better than he actually did.
8/28/2017 3:09:56 PM
Yeah, McGregor didn't embarrass himself, but Mayweather was winning that fight by a landslide before the knockout. It's obvious that Mayweather has slowed down a bunch in the last 2 years though. Hopefully he'll save enough money to pay his taxes so he won't end up on celebrity boxing in a match against Gronk.
8/28/2017 3:43:53 PM
he may finally have made enough to be set for lifeand if not now, then definitely after the rematch
8/29/2017 12:23:20 AM
8/29/2017 10:07:45 AM
he's now estimated to be worth $500-$600 millionthat's quite a lot of money to spend your way out of he'll be ok
8/29/2017 10:25:22 AM
He's already spent 100's of millions of his earnings. Can't imagine he's going to slow down now that his fight earnings might be drying up. Maybe he has actually made some wise investments...
8/29/2017 11:12:51 AM
Doesn't he owe like 50 mil in taxes? Plus a huge chunk of what he just made in more taxes..
8/29/2017 11:56:12 AM
Think it's closer to 30 million. He'll obviously have a yuge tax bill this year too, but this is still an incredible payday.
