^^ join the conversation then. By all means vent but I do think we have had some pretty good dialogue as to why Trump won and how to address it... as well as giving him a chance to mess up before we accuse him of doing so.

The trump votes were mostly protest votes...protesting hillary. Most of the blame goes to the people who supported the only person on the planet who trump could have beaten.
11/10/2016 7:52:54 PM
Protest votes in Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Ohio?Nope, those were voters who actually were listening to him speak about what he wants to do with their lost jobs. The media was talking about two things:1) He's a bigot, racist, etc. blah blah blah2) She's going to win easily

11/10/2016 8:53:02 PM
But if he signed some executive order (the only power he has now at this point), it would get overturned by Trump.

Obama should tell congress either they approve Garland or he pardons Hillary. That would be depriving congress of their favorite pastime. I mean what would they do if they couldn't repeatedly investigate manufactured Clinton scandals? Actually govern? Don't make me laugh.

11/11/2016 1:42:38 AM
lol, that's just my friend group. I have to assume progressives outside my bubble are similarly motivated.
11/11/2016 2:19:23 AM
Yeah, I hear ya. Progressives are motivated (there have been protests outside my office the past few days -- not like that'll do anything), but I'm super worried about what a progressive even is these days. Because if "progressive values" are only centered around social and identity issues, then we won't really have as many allies as you may think we have. And that's super troubling. The fact that the right wing has mobilized around a populist message before the left did is fucking terrifying. And i'm not even talking in terms of cheap political points.I'm seriously worried about how law enforcement is going to behave in a Trump presidency. Like, I'm legit worried. All these protests that we've seen centering around police brutality, etc. What happens when those police are being told from the top down that their number one priority during a protest is to establish "order" in a place like Ferguson or Charlotte? What happens when police in full riot gear go up against dissenters like at standing rock in a Trump presidency?I'm also totally venting right now, so ignore me or whatever.
11/11/2016 2:50:28 AM
yeah im not protesting trump because i think protesters are in for a rude awakening. i'm talking tianmen square.

Riots are still going to happen. Just a matter of how bloody they are. Everyone who thought Ferguson was bad hasn't seen nothing yet. Strap in.[Edited on November 11, 2016 at 10:48 AM. Reason : .]
11/11/2016 10:48:11 AM
But what are they really trying to accomplish via protesting? I'm all for standing up for things and doing things that have some attainable goal, but what is the end-game here? Do they REALLY think protesting is going to get Trump to step down? Does that make sense to anyone? The government isn't going to kick him out because of protesters, that's like taking your kid to Disneyworld because it's throwing a temper tantrum. Just like my idiot FB friends that are trying to spread petitions to get the Electoral College to change their votes, hahaha.

Obama should pardon HRC, as that would a great "fuck you" send-off to a woman that played underhanded politics with him in the 2008 primaries. Pardoning her will just confirm most of America's suspicions that she was guilty of mishandling classified information.[Edited on November 11, 2016 at 12:10 PM. ^I'm interested is seeing how that is going to turn out. He wants to lower taxes, but increase military spending. I won't be shocked if the debt increases. I also don't see his policies involving China working too well either. I guess we'll have to wait and see.
