injury updates from Doeren in the postgame presser (http://www.scout.com/college/north-carolina-state/story/1583077-locker-room-report-dave-doeren)Tocho: "He's fine. He just banged his knee and it got a little swollen, he'll be fine."Schooley: "Schooley did cramp, and he was really mad at himself. That's something we talked about."McKever could have played but Doeren didn't want to put him in without practicing all week, said he should be full speed at practice Tuesday and good to go for EKU.

I'm worried more about ODU running all over us then anything.

If we play every game the way we played last night, we will win every game 49-21

I know we don't play GT this year, I was using a hypothetical example. We gave up way too many explosive plays to an overmatched team and if we're trying to raise the bar then that can't be the norm. If you thought the defense looked good out there then hmm, that's your problem. Doeren did say that the corners had some minor injuries but that still doesn't explain how their running backs keep breaking loose for big yard gains. The offense did looked solid, and Dayes and Samuels had a heck of a pull game yesterday.

How was the pay lot parking for the game? Just curious in case I make it to this weekend's game.
9/6/2015 12:16:19 PM
^^We gave up like 2-3 "explosive" plays. That was it. I'd be tickled to death if we held Clemson or FSU to only 2-3 explosive plays.
9/6/2015 12:26:18 PM
one reporter asked about that 50+ yard run and Doeren basically said that someone on defense messed up their assignment, so hopefully some of those big plays are things that can be fixed. I was watching in person so didn't have the best view, but it seemed to me that Tocho had good positioning on both long passes and didn't make a play on the ball for whatever reason.

yah if demetrius wright doesn't get sucked-in and maintains his responsibility that long touchdown run never happens.... It'd be nice if our corners stopped getting burned tho.Very much should have been 49-14 ... Wright was in the right place to stop that touchdown, he just did something stupid. Granted that same decision lead to him mollywhopping their quarterback later in the game and forcing a turnover.

Since that mollywhopping was brought up, I'll just leave this right here. [Edited on September 6, 2015 at 12:41 PM. Reason : ]

I, too, expected our first game to be played perfectly
9/6/2015 1:22:30 PM
Anyone who's concerned about our defense didn't watch the game. They had one sustained drive against us the whole game. Would have liked to see more forced turnovers, but other than that, we looked fine.
9/6/2015 1:43:29 PM
I, for one, would like somebody to photoshop that pic and delete the QB's head
9/6/2015 1:44:22 PM
Not only was the defense atrocious, but we should've scored AT LEAST 80 points on that inferior opponent. Doeren's seat is getting hotter by the second.
9/6/2015 1:45:39 PM
^^^ I watched the whole game. They had two scoring drives which took less than 60 seconds. Its difficult to gauge the defense off one game so i'll hold off my judgement until we play better competition but the defense again looks vulnerable. I'm sold on the offense and we shouldn't have trouble scoring even on tough defenses.
9/6/2015 2:20:47 PM
^so if we fix whatever caused those 60 seconds to happen ... we win 49-7 .... and everyones lauding Doeren as the savior. The point is ... they didn't shove it down our throat. We made a couple stupid plays. If we continue to do stupid shit, it's gonna be a long year. If we fix it we're going to be decent.
9/6/2015 2:29:39 PM
I'm guessing that by "explosive" you mean plays greater than 20 yards. If so, only 2-3 plays like that against Troy is an awesome accomplishment.Teams are going to have big plays. Even Troy. Other than those 2-3 big plays, their offense wasn't a big deal.

Tocho just caught the Amerson Senior Year virus. Just hope it's a 24 hour thing. If not, Mike Stevens did a good job after Jack went down with the knee injury.

Did anyone else think Brissett's accuracy was sub-par this game, despite the high completion %? It seemed like our pass-catchers were making catches that were behind them, or thrown too high, etc.For example: both TD passes were thrown about a yard behind where they should have been. (Ramos would have not taken as big of a hit if that pass was on target, the pass to Browne could have been picked or broken up) I'm tempering my excitement about Brissett, for now.The bright side is that our receivers, a big question mark coming into the game, did a great job consistently catching passes.

leads country in completion percentagefans complain about accuracy
9/7/2015 12:16:42 PM
Brissett's biggest issue on Saturday was his accuracy throwing deep down the field. Its hard to complain about 21/23, but it'd be nice to see some better touch on those long throws considering that was one of the issues he had last season. I don't think we'll see Brissett out on too many designed QB runs until the Louisville game. Keeps him healthy and we keep our playbook relatively under wraps until we start ACC play.
9/7/2015 12:44:57 PM
Brissett's weakness is throwing downfield. He's still miles better than your average college QB so just accept it and move on.
9/7/2015 12:51:01 PM
Throwing an accurate deep ball to a covered receiver is literally the hardest skill for a quarterback to learn. Brissett is fine.

9/7/2015 1:46:22 PM
Brissett's weakness this year is the left side of the line.He got HAMMERED on about 4 plays...a team with a legit pass rush will really really affect us.McClendon looked terrible. I know he's supposed to be Jacoby 2.0 but he doesn't look downfield and pulls it to run every time.
