I'm all in on next year. We're gonna be really good. Fuck this "we do better as the underdog" bullshit. Lets do this, guys.
4/8/2015 1:51:46 PM
here comes a 7th place ACC finish and a First Four bid
4/8/2015 1:56:21 PM
^^ This. I was on the fence about the 2012-2013 team because we didn't have the depth and were losing a lot of leadership. I'm all in on next year though. This is gonna be Gott's deepest team, and have the most backcourt talent we've had in years. The key for us to go from just being a tournament team to a top 15 team will be the development and improvement shown by Anya, Abu & Washington. All 3 of them can give us a lot more before they hit their ceilings IMO.[Edited on April 8, 2015 at 1:57 PM. Reason : TBDV]

I'm tempering my excitement until we get through the summer without any transfers and/or major injuries. If we bring everyone back....THEN IT'S ON MOTHER FUCKERS.
4/8/2015 2:17:55 PM
If we ever want to become a good program we have to be able to win when there are expectations, so we might as well start now.
4/8/2015 2:40:46 PM
4/8/2015 2:52:39 PM
We'll have a better overall record. But can't really see us get past the S16 again.

not sure if this has been posted but we finished #24 in the coaches pollhttp://sportspolls.usatoday.com/ncaa/basketball-men/polls/coaches-poll/

It's ok to say we will be good save injuries..

It would be nice if we got included in this.http://mweb.cbssports.com/ncaab/eye-on-college-basketball/25142446/acc-atlantic-10-challenge-to-begin-in-december-of-2015

^^ one possible matchup is ASU and Bobby Hurley (and Herb's four returning starters)
4/9/2015 9:17:33 PM
So only 2 teams from each conference each year? And it looks like only for 2 years until A10 gets their tourny site back. Ratings wise you know they're going to pick Duke, UNC, Syracuse, and Notre Dame.
4/9/2015 9:34:17 PM
God dammit Lacey

4/15/2015 3:51:02 PM
Newman isn't going overseas, will end up most likely at Kentucky but won't sign a LOI just in case Cal leaves to go to the NBA.
4/15/2015 3:52:09 PM
Really sucks losing Lacey. Still have high hopes given the Martin twins potential.
4/15/2015 3:54:33 PM
Losing Washington doesn't hurt as much as losing Lacey. If Abu can improve his offensive game (which he improved massively as the season went on just this year) and Anya can get a little more touch on his offensive game (and obviously continue to get in better shape), then this will be okay. It hurts our depth, but we already have three solid big guys and a Martin that can play the four if we go small. We probably need to add a transfer or recruit just for depth purposes...but this definitely isn't a death blow.Lacey on the other hand...we're definitely going to need a lot more stepping up. Henderson needs to be as advertised...and maybe be able to handle the point a little. I've always felt like Gott wanted one Martin twin to be more of a point forward and the other to be a small 4 whenever our lineup goes small. Both of these will be needed next year. At the same time...Gott needs to pull that transfer rabbit out of his ass again and get us a solid grad transfer or two.Who knows...maybe this makes Ingram and/or Newman re-consider...two guys it definitely looked like we were out of the picture for.
4/15/2015 4:04:00 PM
I'm hoping this is like when TJW left, Lewis transferred, & Vandy graduated and everyone thought we would be pretty mediocre but we had a pretty good season.
4/15/2015 4:12:16 PM
definitely sucks. hope that we add a late recruit, juco player, grad transfer...somebody that can have an immediate impact and help fill the void. now do we get to see fans say "good, we wouldn't have dealt with high expectations well anyways"? ^only difference is that TJW was more expected to go pro. lacey's more of a surprise. and the expectations (with lacey) were pretty dang high. nobody was ever realistically thinking TJW would come back. but on the topic of expectations - we're still a NCAAT team without lacey. just not a top 4 ACC team. which blows, given that next year could've (and still may be) really really fun and really really good.[Edited on April 15, 2015 at 4:22 PM. Damn this hurts. We'll lose some depth in our big men and major scorers in Lacey / Turner. I hope Henderson steps up as expected and that both Martins are ready for serious playing time next year. I think the biggest loss from Lacey leaving is that we have no back up at PG if Cat gets injured. Regardless of that possibility, I don't see Cat sticking around after next year with him having a kid recently. To add to the worry is the fact that we didn't expect this shit and have no recruits in the pipeline that are locks as far as I'm aware. Not sure why Gott can't keep players around but I hope he pulls a transfer/JUCO miracle somehow to get depth at PG for the short run.

true, but a lot of those guys leave because they're lotto picks (or think they are) whereas I don't see how Lacey could honestly think that. also, those other programs just reload year after year (UK, Duke, KU). Still stoked to have Gottfried but Lacey leaving is just a puzzler. but seriously, who is going to back up Cat at the point now?[Edited on April 15, 2015 at 4:40 PM. Reason : clarification ]
