Just got back from the game. A lotttt of those fouls looked like bullshit. It *was* worse than normal right?

^^ That's not the first time autocorrect has messed that up for me

Abu was also flashing open a lot inside but no one was getting him the ball in time

just a good job all around. made our free throws, didn't get flustered, got the offense going finally, played defense.

bad job by the refs though.

yeah there are two stone cold locks for every game: anya gets a foul in the first 3 minutes and we miss at least one alley oop.

So the last time Wake beat us at home was the Chris Paul cock punch game. Crush of the Cock Puncher Paul.

I thought Barber played much better, but he doesn't seem to bring a whole lot to the table.

Turner has a multidimensional offensive game he didn't have last year. He's still our worst defender though.

^ Where did this idea that Cat is worthless come from? He keeps getting shat on in all of the game threads for some reason and I don't understand it.

Do you guys not remember the exciting tandem of Javier Gonzalez and Julius Mays running point, where getting across the half court line was an adventure? Where teams would press us because we would cough it up every time?

Cat may make some out of control plays in the lane every now and then, but he is one of our better defenders, can make an open shot, is good for 1-2 great plays in the paint every game and we never have to worry about getting it up the floor when he has it. I'd say that's a pretty damn good player.

Yeah Cat easily broke Wake's press last night. Granted Wake is terrible on D, but it was nice to see him no get flustered like last year.

i dont buy that he is one of our better defenders. he's our best flopper, and the announcers talk about him being good defensively a lot (aka the marcus ginyard defense of a bad player) but that doesn't make him one of our best. i'd say he's about average - worse than anya and KW by a good amount, and probably about even with Lee (who ABSOLUTELY gets the ginyard defense), Freeman and Lacey. the good martin is still TBD because his athleticism is big there but he falls asleep on D a lot, although that's one of cat's biggest issues too. the only guy he's clearly better than is turner.

now if you want to make the argument that we shit on him for his offense a bit much that might be fair. he does get to the line a lot but even then it's not like he's automatic. right now it's just extremely frustrating to watch him play because he has the potential to be so much more

His defense seems good to me. I can't remember another team's PG just having a field day on us, he seems to control his assignment. He isn't a steal machine or anything but he does his job with his guy.

He does some things out of control at times and people remember that and shit on him for it, and he has missed clutch free throws and that sticks with people. Overall though he does a good job running the offense and I feel trying to do what Gott is asking of him.

i agree that cat plays fine and i don't know why people get so mad at him.

i mean i know why, it's b/c people don't quite realize how good lorenzo brown was b/c he played on some really bad teams. cat's not 6'4" and doesn't run our fast break offense in his sleep, but he's a good 1 for us.

cats two biggest weaknesses are decision making and FT shooting. Those are huge for a PG. I'm not shitting on him, I think he's solid. But I had also hoped he would have made a bigger jump from last year and he really hasn't. I think part of the problem is Gott is pushing him to score and really he needs to get everyone else (i.e. lacey) involved first. Still early though, so we'll see.

People forget how great Howell, Leslie, Brown and Wood were at their positions because they all played on shitty teams.

Don't really know much about Artifex other than seeing stories pop up on my newsfeed from time to time, but I enjoyed most of this
(http://theartifexncsu.wordpress.com/2014/12/08/wolfpack-clinches-2014-acc-title/)

Quote :
"WOLFPACK CLINCHES 2014 ACC TITLE
RALEIGH, NC – For the first time since 1989, the NC State men’s basketball team has clinched the ACC conference title. The championship was decided on Saturday in our very own PNC Arena versus Wake Forest. With the loss, the Demon Deacons fall to last in the ACC behind UNC and Duke.

With only one other conference game happening before the end of the year, it appears NC State is guaranteed to hold on to the title. Notre Dame plays Florida State on Dec. 17, meaning the Wolfpack will have to share the banner, but that doesn’t take away from the surreal experience.

Aikon Wan was at the fateful game, and says the atmosphere was amazing.

“I’ve never seen so many people clap out of sync,” Wan said, when asked about the cheers. “I really think it was a genius move by the Wolfpack. By making sure we didn’t clap with the band, a tidal wave of sound washed over Wake and like, totally fucked their shooting game bro.”

Others in attendance agreed that the game was “the hypest ever”, and when told that storming the court would result in arrest, students replied “…a seven-nation army couldn’t hold [us] back.” As it turns out, an eight-person security team was all it took, leading to an inquiry from the Pentagon as to whether these eight individuals could be demi-gods disguised as mortals.

In related news, it seems that prostitution in Wake County dropped 90% during the time the game was being played. There is still an ongoing investigation, but The Artifex staff agrees that this was due to the fact that, in one writer’s words, “the refs were blowing every cock imaginable, and the locals just couldn’t compete.”

Despite a shaky first half, the WolfPack ended the game with a 78-65 run to seal the win. Though scoring more points than the other team may not have guaranteed the victory, it was a huge factor in the Wolfpack’s dominating performance.

According to one editor here at The Artifex (who definitely does not own Tesla Motors), “The Wolfpack did great at the sportsball. Some of our players combined for some points, and that was huge. I don’t understand why we don’t dunk the ball every play though. Can I talk to someone about that?”

An individual player rundown is as follows-
Trevor Lacey – Scored 21 points, played 34 minutes, and confirmed to be able to “Lacey up his shoes”.

Anthony ‘Cat’ Barber – Individual stats will not be posted until he becomes a cat as advertised.

Ralston Turner – Scored the most with the Sportsball for the Wolfpack. Sources tell us Gottfried is considering “buying [Ralston] a bigger backpack”.

BeeeeeeJaaaay Anya – Finished the game with a near double-double: five blocks and five fouls.

Staats Battle and Chase Cannon – Combined for a season-high in high fives given.

Dez Lee- Achieved a season-high 1.25 fouls-per-minute.

Lennard Freeman – I got his playing card at the game, and it’s great.

Kyle Washingbeard – Best facial hair on the team. Oh, he also got points.

Abdul-Malik Abu – Scored the most among NC State big men, which is kind of shitty considering he only scored six points. Kudos to you though, Abu.

Caleb Martin – According to the ESPN box score, there is an “F” beside his name. I can only assume this means he performed poorly.

Coach Gott – Loving the tie. Best facial expressions all game. The Artifex is considering writing a book about his face titled 50 Shades of Red.

Final Thoughts on the Wolfpack: It’s about god damn time we made this many free throws.

Shoutout to Lacey for acknowledging NC State’s status as the premier technical school in North Carolina with the technical foul.

Final Thoughts on Wake Forest: YOU SHOULDN’T HAVE LEFT WAKE COUNTY BITCHES. #REKT #WAKECOUNTYFORLIFESCRUBS"
