They always seem to have guys be better than expected. Ennis and MCW both came out of nowhere the last two years. Boeheim is a recruiting wizard.
3/27/2014 7:00:48 PM
its a shame most of the top freshman recruits this year already got bounced from the tourney
3/27/2014 7:34:19 PM
not sure I would say MCW came out of nowhere
3/27/2014 7:38:30 PM
we knew he was good but nobody had any idea he would be THIS good. not this fast at least.
3/27/2014 8:06:50 PM
So Lutz will be back next year:http://www.charlotteobserver.com/2014/03/28/4801241/lutz-to-stay-at-nc-state.html#.UzXQG1drv4U

Thats good news

Imagining Montrezl Harrell on a team with TJ Warren makes me
3/28/2014 10:06:26 PM
didnt realized that that dude was from tarboro
3/28/2014 10:12:55 PM
He would be here now if VT didnt block him... or so I've heard.
3/28/2014 10:24:22 PM
Once he signed his LOI with another ACC school, he was never gonna be allowed to come here.
3/28/2014 11:14:50 PM
he reminds me of Kyle Washington
3/28/2014 11:15:37 PM
^^ I get that but I also feel it's different releasing from a LOI versus an actual transfer.http://sports.yahoo.com/news/how-a-steve-nash-drill-has-helped-uconn-advance-deep-into-ncaa-tournament-040824027.htmlSomeone send this to Gott...[Edited on March 29, 2014 at 7:18 AM. Reason : X]

Tyler Lewis transferring.What a faggot.
3/29/2014 9:52:34 PM
It'll be interesting to see where he ends up. He played well down the stretch but his scoring has always lacked. Tough loss, but Cat should be fine next year
3/29/2014 10:00:00 PM
Tyler was pretty boss down the stretch. Not ready to give Cat the reins wholesale quite yet.Fuck everything.
3/29/2014 10:01:16 PM
Can Lacey run the point at all? Obviously somebody has to spell Cat
3/29/2014 10:08:01 PM
what the balls lewis... dangit.
3/29/2014 10:08:25 PM
Devonte graham play some pg? Cat/Lacey/lee if not
3/29/2014 10:12:36 PM
Haha, what the fuck?Maybe Lewis could read the tarot cards, and didn't see himself getting much playing time next season? Like, if Warren leaves, they will probably need a point better at making his own points, like Barber.
3/29/2014 10:12:39 PM
Cody & Caleb Martin playing on ESPNU at 2pm today

He played PG at Alabama but prefers the 2.

There's a thread about it on PP. Apparently they played well and combined for 35 points, and one of them had a sick dunk at the end of the game. They were interviewed after the game, and NC State and Abu were mentioned a few times.[Edited on April 3, 2014 at 5:26 PM. Reason : ]
4/3/2014 5:09:42 PM
^^^Yes!
4/3/2014 8:02:31 PM
They looked really good yesterday. Very athletic. Only concern is I'm not sure their strengths mesh well with our schemes. Seem to me they would fit well at VCU with the press and corner 3s.
4/4/2014 8:54:28 AM
I don't see how getting "athletic" guys is a step in the wrong direction .State just struggled through close to a decade where the overall team was comparably out of shape. Sid Lowe didn't even require gym workouts according to Lo Brown. The days of Cheeseburger Costner, pre-beast Howell, McCauley, and Vandy were tough to watch. Really wore out my "underdog" card knowing those were our best post players.I fully welcome a team full of athletic players for a change. The system should adapt to the players. If not, then we have a coaching problem. They gotta guard us too, pal. (doh!)
4/4/2014 4:39:37 PM
for the record, Gott was on 99.9 a few minutes ago and said Lacey would play some of both guard positions next year
4/7/2014 5:18:49 PM
Way too early top 25http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/10742731/arizona-wildcats-duke-blue-devils-headline-early-top-25-2014-15-men-college-basketball-seasonSpoiler alert: we aren't in it
4/7/2014 11:53:08 PM
^^Did he say anything about playing the position well?
4/8/2014 7:21:33 AM
Eh, think that top 25 is making the assumption that Warren is going pro(safe guess). If Warren comes back I can't imagine us not being around the 23-25 area, just based on ACCPOY/hype.Can't imagine us being picked to finish any higher than we were this preseason with 3 starters not returning(Lewis, Warren, VANDY) and the ACC getting better overall.
4/8/2014 8:30:27 AM
Well, THIS was supposed to be Gott's season to contend. He's got another tough coaching job to just get us in the tourney
4/8/2014 9:45:56 AM
4/8/2014 9:49:14 AM
i didn't listen, but this recap says he "could" play either guard position... but yeah, if we don't get a pg transfer, it's either him or desmond backing up cat.http://www.wralsportsfan.com/gottfried-we-ll-be-a-lot-different-next-year/13548568/
4/8/2014 9:52:54 AM
I wish I had an alias account to ask this silly Q but, how crazy would it be if this panned out:Cal to Lakers. Gott to Kentucky. Archie to State? [Edited on April 8, 2014 at 3:29 PM. Reason : ]
4/8/2014 3:29:33 PM
what's the over/under on strokes had by UK fans if gottfried is hired as their coach? probably like 200.
4/8/2014 3:34:57 PM
^^ lol. Gott ain't going to UK. Or rather, UK ain't going after Gott
4/8/2014 7:21:15 PM
CBS giving us some love. Yesterday they named Cat one of five the "breakout players" of next yearhttp://www.cbssports.com/collegebasketball/eye-on-college-basketball/24519400/five-breakout-players-for-the-2014-15-college-basketball-seasonToday they named Trevor Lacey as one of five "impact transfers"http://www.cbssports.com/collegebasketball/eye-on-college-basketball/24520990/five-impact-transfers-for-the-2014-15-college-basketball-season

Lol at Calhoun quote. I'm still waiting on Ater Majok to dominate like he said he would. So Lacey at 2, Turner at 3?[Edited on April 10, 2014 at 2:00 PM. Reason : X]

Gottfried is a proven recruiter; Archie is not.I don't think he is a very good game coach but neither is Calipari or Roy.
4/10/2014 2:02:17 PM
4/10/2014 2:13:09 PM
Gott is an underrated coach. He's an excellent offensive coach, will play to his teams strengths and can fill holes in his roster. His defensive coaching is a fatal flaw, however, and it caps his overall ability.Archie also appears to know how to coach offense really well. His stats at Dayton bear that out as does the eye test. Whether he is or isn't able to put together a good defensive team at a major program isn't known yet. After 15 years, it pretty much is known with Gott. If Gottfried could get his teams to play even average BCS-level defense he would be a top tier coach.I wouldn't be concerned about Archie's recruiting if he came here. We've landed top recruits under every coach that didn't have self-imposed restrictions, and it's not like Archie has spent his entire coaching career at mid majors.
4/10/2014 2:18:46 PM
NCSU, PNC, and being in the ACC recruit themselves. Archie just took a mid-major to an Elite Eight. Gott had a team loaded last year and lost to Temple. I like Gott, but I would trade in a heartbeat. Plus Archie is 35 compared to 47. But anyway.....PG: Cat, Devonte Graham? SG: Lacey, Dez, Caleb MartinSF: Ralston, Cody MartinPF: Freeman, AbuC: Washington, AnyaCat, Lacey, Turner will be as good as anyone in the ACC on the perimeter. Anya loses weight and look out. I honestly think we will be just as good as this year maybe better.[Edited on April 10, 2014 at 2:25 PM. Reason : Biggest question is backup PG for 10 mins if Graham doesn't come. Lacey/Lee yuck.]
4/10/2014 2:23:45 PM
Saying we had a loaded team last year is a little exaggerated. Our team last year was pretty similar in talent level to this year's Iowa State team. We were talented and grossly underachieved but were never at any point a National Title threat.
