historic? A guy barely gets drafted and it's historic? he's not the first gay player in the nfl, there's nothing historic about it. ESPN is trying to gin up ratings by making a big deal out of absolutely nothing. So he's gay; big. fucking. deal.

you're slipping, and it's more pathetic than usual

It really isn't historic though. This is a footnote at best. But this never gets old:

And it will be even more of a footnote when he doesn't even make it past training camp. But hey, then ESPN can bitch and moan about how he wasn't given a fair shot on account of his sexuality. It's a win-win proposition for them, really.

I dunno. If he doesn't make it, I doubt anyone with credibility would suggest it's because of his sexual orientation. And amidst the politicizing and sensationalizing, we do have to appreciate that some people sincerely view this as an opportunity to increase tolerance and awareness, which isn't a terrible thing. It's just kinda annoying for those of us who are fatigued by it as a human interest story.

Man I was hoping he'd make it. Some team will sign him this year if he does not join the Rams practice squad. Even then he will likely get a shot once one of the Ram DL guys gets hurt

I have nothing against the guy and couldn't care less which sex he prefers, but I'm completely over the ESPN talking heads going on and on about him, the daily reports from St Louis, the "highlights" of his preseason play, etc. He's a borderline NFL talent. He's already done the historic thing by coming out. The Rams did the historic thing by drafting him and bringing him in, and he was treated like any other rookie 7th rounder. From this point on, it's really about whether he can contribute. I think a large majority are over the novelty of a gay pro athlete.

Sounds like the Rams wanna keep him on the practice squad. They've got a stacked DLine, so it's not surprising that he didn't make the team. Hope he catches on somewhere going forward.

^^ you take that back. He's the best there ever was! he's only being hated on cause he's gay!or maybe Herm Edwards was right...

Herm Edwards was wrong by a long shot. That has nothing to do with being a borderline NFL player.
