tipped $4 in your honor.

^^that's freaky fast
3/14/2014 3:56:39 PM
Lately "freaky fast" has meant 45 minutes, so I've been tipping a buck. The drivers seem less than impressed.

I made my own Vito's earlier this week for lunch...they were pretty fucking delicious. But I don't plan on buying sub buns a lot...so I'll still order JJ's every once in a while.

^get last night's bread when you do order JJ, and then rub it in their faces.

I'm a former JJ delivery driver as well. The average tip at my location was probably about $2. I think you should tip $3-4, but I guess I'm a bit biased. I don't think the size of the order matters that much, either. Unless you order like ten drinks, which would be hard to carry, it's no more difficult for me to deliver a $50 boxed order than a $10 bagged order. Our hourly rate is less than minimum wage. $6/hour plus a minuscule percentage of the order plus tips. A delivery driver can expect to take home $9-15/hour, depending on how many deliveries you take. For me, about $1/hour of that would go to gas, but my car gets pretty good mileage. So I still ended up making more than min. wage.Regarding 45 minute deliveries, yes, that would happen at my location, but rarely. Usually if a delivery takes that long it means it's pouring rain or we unexpectedly, randomly got slammed with orders and were understaffed. Not much you can do in those situations. Although, it could also mean the management sucks.[Edited on September 5, 2014 at 1:14 AM. Reason : ...]

What does pouring rain have to do with the speed of deliveries, besides the potential for traffic
9/5/2014 1:29:34 AM
Usually more people order deliveries when it's raining.

I've probably eaten at several hundred different places that put salty luncheon meat on bread around the US and in the Caribbean during my various travels, and the quality and service have been amazingly consistent
