oh i willyou should have seen the boots i wanted to get for the outfit until i was shamed for spending money on things I would wear once. boooooooo
7/11/2014 12:43:58 PM
In our circles, there's no reason to only wear something once, no matter what it is.
7/11/2014 12:45:27 PM
yea plus i was hoping to wear the costumes again for halloween or somethingso basically someone help me justify me buying these pleasehttp://www.urbanog.com/Nelly-56-Strappy-Lace-Up-Knee-High-Platform-Boot_100_44102.html

7/11/2014 12:50:04 PM
that is definitely more of a wintertime event but it can be arranged when it's less hot outside
7/11/2014 12:53:01 PM
They're only $50...are you on welfare?
7/11/2014 12:55:46 PM
i've already spent a bunch of money on costume stuff and the hotel. Also just fuck you. Not everyone is big balling. I make enough to pay my bills and the like but I have fucking loans I'm trying to pay off and yea blowing 50 bucks on shoes I'll wear once isn't the most responsible choice I could be making right nowSo kindly find a cactus and shove it up your ass]
7/11/2014 1:13:48 PM
I guess that's my point. You're already paying a ton of money to go to this thing (room and board, costumes, travel, food and drink)....what's an extra $50 to top off the perfect costume?? I was excepting to see at least a $200 price tag before clicking on that link.
7/11/2014 1:21:17 PM
I have a budget for dragoncon$50 is one shift at my second job after taxesit is 1 weeks worth of gasit is 2 weeks worth of groceriesit is 1 bag of food for my dogit is the electricity bill for the monthif I blow my budget, I don't have money for things like bills and foodso yea. not exactly chump change when you are on a budget. feel free to stop acting like a douchebag anytime you feel like it.
7/11/2014 1:28:22 PM
^I don't think he can help it.
7/11/2014 1:34:51 PM
I will loan you the $50 DDK, just cause I like yaBUT I WANT BUTTHOLE PICS OUT OF IT
7/11/2014 1:36:09 PM
^^^I'm kinda appalled that you already own three pairs of these "sassy boots." I'm pretty poor and very thrifty so I would never spend money that way.But it's just fifty bucks, dude. You can find fifty dollars somewhere if you seriously gotta have those boots.
7/11/2014 1:40:34 PM
#50dollarbucksfromemce4buttholepics supported
7/11/2014 1:42:39 PM

7/11/2014 2:34:34 PM
yea ok let me just work 7 days a week then. No breaks ever. No time to see any of my friends or boyfriend. for a pair of shoes that don't fit in the 30 dollar budget i made for the costumes. and now i'm being judge for going on the first vacation I've been on in like 5 yearsthat I've been saving up for for months and months noware you done trying to feel superior or something yet?]
7/11/2014 2:46:57 PM
Now you're just being dramatic...it's just one shift. Think of it like this...One Shift = One Complete pink pony outfit. Just do it.
7/11/2014 2:49:45 PM

7/11/2014 2:56:14 PM

7/11/2014 3:08:22 PM
I have a friend that works at Capital Cabaret...just sayin'
7/11/2014 3:35:50 PM
Seriously...ddk, you fine! I don't think it's easy work, but put on some of those sassy boots, and you could make a whole lot more than $50/shift.
7/11/2014 3:47:36 PM
This thread is about DragonCon, not being a waitress.
7/11/2014 3:55:54 PM
Protip: if $50 makes or breaks your monthly budget, you need to make adjustments somewhere.
7/11/2014 4:04:34 PM
^ don't be a douchebag
7/11/2014 4:09:02 PM

7/11/2014 4:47:37 PM
Some people go to dragoncon without buying a room, they sleep in public areas.
7/11/2014 4:55:43 PM
if you are caught sleeping in a public area, you may be trespassed out of the hotel. I had a room all 5 of the years I staffed at con, however I saw more of the digital gaming room than I did of my room. When your area is open 21 hours a day, and your schedule from Thursday noon till Monday noon has 72 hours of 'official' logged time, you sorta live at your 'job'. However, this sorta burned me out on con. Plus, having kids = no con money, it gets used to go to the beach with family instead./me used to budget $1500-2k for travel to con, a hotel room, and con spending. That way if I got there and all of the room share folks flaked out, and I had to pay the whole room myself I was not butraped
7/12/2014 10:43:28 AM
Why not bring the kids?
7/12/2014 10:46:36 AM
10 year old could probably go, but would have to have supervision at all times from myself or the wife. 2 year old is not really old enough to go yet, due to noise levels and no good place he can safely be allowed to run around. and wife is 33 weeks 4 days pregnant with triplets. The wife went with me in 2010, and had a good time. We had relatives keep the at the time 6 year old. 2011 we were closing and moving into our house during con, 2012 wife was recovering form knee surgery while taking care of a 6 month old baby, and 2013 the 9 year old was playing football, and thus we had 0 free time. This year, wife is in the hospital on bed rest, week 5 of bed rest at wake med. At con time, she will be home as will the triplets. The con was a great weekend, time wise, when I was single, but with kids it lines up right as school starts for the year, and in the middle of football season. I had no issue making the 6 hour drive each way most of the years I went to con, even the first year when I had a fever of 104 with hallucination all the way home. 2nd year I went to con I flew down, as it was so much faster, no driving, etc, and I could get a ride from the airport with all my stuff or catch a shuttle or the MARTA. 3rd and 4th years I drove my truck and took my gaming computer, mini fridge, etc down, and basically set up a living area in the staff area at digital gaming. 5th year the wife and I went minimalist.
7/12/2014 1:51:04 PM
that was an unnecessarily long and boring explanation of why you no longer go to this shitty con[Edited on July 12, 2014 at 4:36 PM. Reason : I bet you flood Facebook with kid pics]
7/12/2014 4:35:57 PM
1: while I don't think bringing small children to the con is the brightest move, it does not make Dragon a bad con.2: while dragon can be confusing, seeing as how it is essential more than a dozen small cons all under 1 roof, it DOES function remarkably well for a con with so many fandoms combined.3: Dragon is, as far as I know, the largest 'hotel con' out there for Sci Fi stuff, in which the venue is at the hotels, not at a separate convention center, and where many con venues and events happen 24 hours a day.4: The energy and friendliness of Dragon makes up for any small rough patches. While any con may have issues once in a while, at Dragon I saw more people being genuinely nice to one another than at any public venue I have ever been to. The Fandom has enough folks who are willing to agree to not be Evil or a Dick (tm) for the length of the con that they help control and outweigh those who choose to make life difficult for folks.5: I have not yet met anyone, or seen any costume that meets the (minimalist) rules of Dragon after Dark (aka don't be nude, don't be underage, don't break federal law and get caught) that upset or offended me when at con. If I saw some of them in church, or a school, or at the mall it might be another story, but con is all about coming as you are, or as you see yourself, and everyone else being polite about it.
7/12/2014 5:34:22 PM
I got my letterman jacket in today, costume is complete
7/12/2014 6:04:42 PM

7/13/2014 10:03:02 AM
if you go as Ogre, you better have the trophy cup full of beer and the Viking hat[Edited on July 13, 2014 at 10:10 AM. Reason : or was it a roman helmet?]
