that would be true if the Xbox One has Wii U adoption rates, but if the Xbox One has Xbox adoption rates then we should see plenty of development for it. Similar to this is the second screen experience. While Sony requires you to have a Vita, Microsoft just requires that you have an iOS, Android, WP8, or Windows 8 device for the second screen experience. I don't know the exact number of Vita owners, but its a tiny fraction of the other group.
6/13/2013 3:46:23 PM
Oh I'm sure most games will have token support for it. Hell, Bioshock Infinite had Move support and no one owns that shit. I'm still skeptical as to level of utilization in "hardcore" games. Granted, what seems like a gimmick to some might be a really cool feature to others. Also, I'm pretty sure they talked about having Smartglass esque apps for iPhone/Android that will provide a second screen experience for the PS4.
6/13/2013 4:00:52 PM
^ I believe the Vita is the second screen device of choice
6/13/2013 4:03:26 PM
Everything about the new Xbox seems really cool except you have to connect online once a day to use it. Other than that, the online game sharing thing seems pretty awesome.
6/13/2013 4:44:10 PM
during their keynote, Sony showed off something that used some phone or tablet (definitely wasn't a vita). might have been Watch Dogs?from what I understand, ps4 will have android/iOS apps similar to smartglass and the vita will function as a native controller+remote play like the wiiu controller

6/14/2013 1:38:32 AM
That's dependent on different developers choosing to support various platforms, there is no system level support for something that's available on different platforms. Their version of that is using the vita.
6/14/2013 8:14:07 AM
can see a bit of the interface
6/19/2013 11:51:44 AM
has there been any demo or definitive explanation of what the vita experience will be like? I want to get one now while they're like $120
6/19/2013 1:29:50 PM
I'm probably going to buy my brother's for cheap as well. How does it integrate right now with the PS3? Is it just a gimmick?
6/19/2013 2:14:30 PM
supposedly sony is requiring all their games to either support remote play on the vita (so it's like the wii u controller) or support the ps eyei have no idea the veracity of site i read that on
6/19/2013 2:14:31 PM
Yeah, remote play is supported at the OS level with the PS4, developers don't have to do anything except make sure the game controls ok on the Vita. All titles will work with remote play from day one, except shit like Just Dance which requires or a motion controller or a camera.

So I think I may get a PS4. I've never owned a console before (PC gamer) but I want to play The Last of Us and GTA5 (got delayed on PC until early 2015). A few other titles I'm interested in as well. Or should I get an Xbone?
9/18/2014 11:13:21 AM
Yeah I am planning to get one or the other as well once I get my bonus in October. Has the PS4 gotten to the point I can use it as a media streamer from my PC like I use my ps3? Seems like I remember it not being capable of that at release.
9/18/2014 11:15:29 AM
Still going to use my HTPC and XBMC for media streaming. I doubt anything on a console will come close to the customization and performance of XBMC on a decent HTPC but it'll be nice to finally have a Bluray player.
9/18/2014 11:21:43 AM
2nd screen? let me know when the games on the first screen are as good as they were on PS1/2I'm Krallum and I approved this message.
9/18/2014 11:39:01 AM
Is there anywhere locally (triangle/triad) that you can rent PS4 controllers? I remember you used to be able to rent from places like Blockbuster, but after calling around I can't seem to find anywhere that does it anymore. Wanted to rent a few controllers so we can have a local Diablo couch co-op night, but also don't want to drop ~$100 for 2 used controllers to only use on the rare occasion of a meetup.
11/4/2014 8:23:04 AM
Anybody have Driveclub? Is it worth getting as a racing fix?
11/4/2014 8:24:43 AM
The Crew looks like more fun to me.
11/4/2014 7:54:49 PM
I heard Driveclub was having lots of problems. I'd look into what people are saying on message boards before picking it up.

Preordered the PS4 with GTA5 and The Last of Us Remastered. Now have to wait for slow Newegg shipping. Debating on whether to pick up Shadows of Mordor for $25. Are the GTA5/TLoU campaigns long?
11/28/2014 3:18:24 AM
^ Diablo 3 and Far Cry 4 are two great games for the PS4. If you can get those on discount I would consider them as well.
11/28/2014 8:59:32 AM
The Last of Us has a decent campaign, around 18-20 hours. I highly recommend the Left Behind DLC (3-4 hours) and multiplayer.
11/28/2014 11:19:17 AM
last of us on survival (i always play games on top difficulty to start because i never replay) takes a LONG time.
11/29/2014 9:20:33 AM
I have a code for a month of PS+ if someone wants it. It is for new subscriptions only though, couldn't use it to extend my subscription. Ask for it in the thread and I'll PM it.[Edited on November 29, 2014 at 11:21 AM. Reason : ]

^I could use that. PS4 arrived today and I'm hoping there's another deal on PS+ between now and after-Christmas sales.
12/3/2014 9:59:38 PM
What are some good cheap PSN games for PS4? It really sucks that none of my PS3-purchased PSN games transfer to PS4. Really fucking pissing me off.
12/4/2014 10:46:40 PM
If you're a PS+ member you can get Injustice Gods Among Us (fighting game with superman, batman, etc) for free this month.Other than that, you can probably find Infamous: Second Son cheap somewhere. And Tomb Raider Definitive Edition.

Uncharted 4 gameplay

I got a PS4 and am thoroughly disappointed. I was skeptical about there even needing to be a PS4; it still seems like the last-gen consoles (PS3/360) were going strong and there wasn't a need for advancement in technology. My experience so far can be summed up as: boring. Either my expectations for the next generation were way off or I've totally outgrown video gaming. You tell me.-My expectation was that PS3/PSN games purchased on my account would carry over. It's pretty shitty that they don't.-I played the Destiny demo; it's boring as fuck.-I have no interest in the PSNow streaming service.-There's a distinct lack of "quality cheap" downloadable games, like Wipeout HD and Super Stardust HD that were on PS3. And please don't tell me to download flOw. What a boring waste of time.-I'm not all that interested in TLOU.-Being a fan of the MGS series, I bought MGS Ground Zeroes. I literally couldn't even play beyond the first objective. I was bored out of my mind. The graphics were definitely nice, but every little thing Kiefer said just sounded so forced and cliched. What a terrible game.-Random nitpick: when holding the PS button on the controller, it takes too many steps to either turn the controller off or put the console into Rest mode.+I do like that you can charge the controllers via a cell phone charging cable-the home screen interface is too clunky-there aren't any good driving/racing game available (Driveclub and The Crew have their share of drawbacks)-I already have Diablo 3 on PC, I'm not buying it again.-I've been burned out on COD games since MW2.I think I'm gonna return this thing and stick with the PS3 until (much) better games are available. I may even go XBONE if they don't manage to fuck up Forza 6 and it comes out soon.[Edited on December 18, 2014 at 6:25 PM. Reason : ]

Best PS4 deal I've ever seen: Console, camera, last of us remastered and another free game for $440!http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00QU6V250/&tag=gamespot-vg-20#ftag=YHF6738a5f
12/18/2014 10:51:38 PM
BTW, i like how none of these bundle "deals" are for a console + an extra controller. That'd be far more useful than a camera or a shitty game.
12/19/2014 12:32:06 AM
^^ill save you the time and give you $200 for it right now.
12/19/2014 1:10:51 AM
^^ not sure that extra controller sweetens the pot as much as it used to with online being so much more of a factor. What amazes me is how MS / Sony don't tie in a free digital game or two, vs a physical copy, to pack more in.
12/19/2014 6:19:22 AM
^Did you see any black Friday ads? MS has a bunch of bundles with digital games tied in. Not sure about Sony
12/19/2014 6:40:17 AM
the only thing an extra controller did for me with my PS3 was allow me to continue playing when Controller 1 was low on battery. I could probably count on one hand the number of times i actually played a game with two-players. But i really don't have an interest in the camera either.
12/19/2014 8:09:32 AM
I'll buy the camera for $20 if someone buys this deal!
12/19/2014 9:10:52 AM
Geez, I thought I was cynical about these new consoles.
12/19/2014 10:28:12 AM
I think it's a fine console and I'm sure I'll play the exclusives that are coming down the pipe like The Order and Bloodborne, but multiplatform games on these "next-gen" consoles are pretty disappointing. 1080p/60 is still a struggle and the graphics/image quality is about on par with Medium settings for the PC version of games. Lately I've played more games in my living room via Steam In Home streaming using a DS4 than the PS4 itself.
12/19/2014 10:58:25 AM
My reasoning for buying a PS4 goes something like this:Sony always has a decent stable of exclusive releases across their console's lifespan. They had LittleBigPlanet, Uncharted, TLoU, Infamous, and God of War 3 for the PS3, not to mention smaller but noteworthy titles like flower and Journey. Already new editions of several of those are on the way and they'll probably have some new and interesting titles over the years.
12/19/2014 1:59:09 PM
When are they gonna add DLNA to the PS4? I went ahead and bought mine assuming it would get patched in at some point. I still have my ps3 hooked up to use as my media device to play things from my PC. Tried it through the browser with Plex but it wasnt playing any of the files quite right making them appear choppy or jittery.
12/19/2014 2:05:25 PM
^^ - That and:
Specter
12/19/2014 10:20:24 PM
Well, no. At the moment the Xbone has sony beat easily in good exclusives. Sunset Overdrive and Forza Horizon 2 both just released this fall, and both are better than any ps4 exclusive.Sony looks like it has some good future exlusives and if this generation is anything like the last one Microsoft might start getting lazy with exclusives in the 2nd half of the generation. But right now Xbox has the edge in games.
12/20/2014 8:12:00 AM
^^^^ I think you missed the point of my comparison. It's not PS4 vs. XB1 for me, it's PS4 vs. PS3. The PS3 offers me much more at this point, so I guess I'm probably still 1-2 years away from next-gen adoption. The only way I would possibly consider an XB1 is if Forza 6 came out and was as awesome as Forza 4. My gripes of the Gran Turismo series are long enough for their own thread. Basically, I'm at the point where I'd probably never give PD my money unless GT7 was a complete innovation and they threw out the existing 800 cars that have been carried over from like GT3.[Edited on December 21, 2014 at 11:01 AM. Well I can understand that. I didn't pick up a PS3 until MGS4. Shadow of Mordor piqued my interest though, so I decided to make the leap.
