finally beat up on Verlander... and the game might get called - cancelling the sixth inning Here's to Coco's 100th for pg4[Edited on August 27, 2013 at 10:24 PM. Reason : coco]
8/27/2013 10:16:11 PM
Verlander is done. Reminds me of how Lincecum devolved.
8/27/2013 11:34:26 PM
OAK>DET
8/28/2013 9:35:17 PM
seriously wtf... (tiger fan here) we just got WORKED in 3 straight. with V and Fister really getting blasted.
8/28/2013 9:46:47 PM
It would be great if the A's could give Scherzer his second loss tomorrow and sweep dat ass on the road Will be happy with the series win. A's need it BIG time.[Edited on August 28, 2013 at 9:49 PM. Reason : derp it's 14-4 now][Edited on August 28, 2013 at 9:51 PM. Reason : .]
8/28/2013 9:48:52 PM
^^, Verlander is 12-10. Detroit is still built for the playoffs with the strongest 3 man rotation out there. Oakland is playing desparate at this point. The rain helped out tremendously night before last. Colon has got to get back to pre all star form and Anderson has to take his spot back. A's schedule is brutal including today and next 6 games after. Need to take 2 of next 4 and 2 of next 3 after that against Texas. Escape down 2-3 with a nice easy home stretch (SEA/LAA/HOU).ETA- Can't believe Texas won't lose without Hamilton. And Cruz going away. They are on fire.[Edited on August 29, 2013 at 10:10 AM. 8/29/2013 10:06:35 AM
srsly. Lowrie, Callaspo, BARTON, and Vogt have us up 4-0 already on Sherzer! you may notice that we turned the corner after this DET series on remaining SOS vs. TEX. A's have a have slightly easier schedule down the stretch... especially compared to BOS, TB, and BAL.
8/29/2013 2:20:43 PM
8/29/2013 3:26:21 PM
wow. can't believe the tigers won. wtf Balfour
8/29/2013 4:18:33 PM
Balfour just absolutely crapped the bed
8/29/2013 4:18:34 PM
he didthe strike zone was a bit questionable, but he seemed to have it figured out. guess notoh well, i'll still take 3/4 from DET on the road.
8/29/2013 4:24:35 PM
geez - these bullshit games we shouldn't be losing could likely add up to cost us the division or WC Didnt the same thing happen @HOU a few weeks ago?
8/29/2013 4:45:56 PM
That helped ease the pain of three ass whoopings
8/29/2013 7:14:09 PM
phuck it. just need to win this next series vs. TB
8/29/2013 8:54:15 PM
Balfour with the redemption! Texas losing helps too![Edited on August 31, 2013 at 1:19 AM. Reason : .]

9/1/2013 12:54:48 AM
He pitched great last nightWe really need this sweep...
9/1/2013 12:41:40 PM
schedule suddenly looking good for the A's (assuming we can at least break even with TEX down the stretch). TEX gets alot of TB, PIT, and LAA while OAK gets alot of HOU, MIN, and LAA
9/1/2013 7:26:24 PM
9/1/2013 8:33:08 PM
Tied in the west, Balfour made it interesting
9/2/2013 7:10:46 PM
36 saves, give the man some rest.Big game today. Hopefully early season Colon shows up.
9/3/2013 10:06:24 AM
I don't think he's over worked. Would be 8/8 from Det/Tampa/Tex including Ver, Schur, and David Price. Heart of the nasty schedule is over for Oak and Texas runs a much tougher schedule. Need to take one of next two from Texas and it's looking good on paper.
9/3/2013 2:52:40 PM
Sweep would've been nice, but I will take an 11-4 pounding and another tie for first.Worried about Colon though- a deep play off run starts with solid pitching and he was our main man for a while...[Edited on September 4, 2013 at 8:54 PM. Reason : .]
9/4/2013 8:53:13 PM
hey we've got Anderson coming back (who keeps getting shelled in garbage time though)...also interesting tidbit - gotta attribute to our fabulous GM:
9/4/2013 9:02:49 PM
oh, and also can't forget about COCO with 4HRs in his last 5 games:
9/4/2013 9:14:55 PM
9/4/2013 9:39:42 PM
Hopefully we take care of business in these next two "easy" series agains the Astros and Twins to take back a division lead.
9/5/2013 5:55:44 AM
Me too, although the A's have a tendency to play to the level of their competition. Here's hoping this isn't the case.
9/5/2013 12:34:20 PM
geezus what a jinx... Peacock throws his first ever MLB gem-whats next?
9/6/2013 12:01:31 AM
Called it.Hint: you can lose to anyone on any given night if you don't show up
9/6/2013 1:01:10 AM
9/6/2013 1:29:03 PM
No. The Astros are fucking terrible. There's no good reason the A's should be losing this many games to them this late in the season. The fact that the A's can beat teams like Detroit, Pittsburgh, Tamba Bay, etc and completely forget how to play baseball at times is precisely what I was talking about- they play to the level of their competition. It's eerily reminiscent of another team I follow so closely...
9/6/2013 3:07:41 PM
His OPS last year was .954It is .832 this year. While it is still better than I thought, i was right in the fact that he could not maintain that levelAnd as usual UJustWait84 can eat a bowl of dicks[Edited on September 6, 2013 at 3:29 PM. Reason : V]
9/6/2013 3:29:24 PM
I think Oakland is like 12-4 against Houston this year? I'll take that winning % against the worst team in the league every year. It just so happens that two of the losses were after the break (I think) and Balfour is sole reason for one, not the whole team. I'd let Texas see where their chips land this next week before reading Oak the riot act about Houston.ETA- 3-4 against Houston since the break, one of which was a big time blown save. Two more to play. [Edited on September 6, 2013 at 3:51 PM. Reason : .]
9/6/2013 3:47:52 PM
sand robot can't read. lol^ I'm not really sure what you're trying to argue with me? I never said the A's season is over. All I said is that they have a tendency to play down against shitty teams (see: Houston and LAA recently). They have had several chances to run away with a lead and blown them. [Edited on September 6, 2013 at 4:33 PM. Reason : .]
9/6/2013 4:26:44 PM
Naw, not arguing but cherry picking any 1-3 games can go either way in MLB. I'm sure there was a stretch even for the 01 Mariners where they played poorly against an inferior opponent in a game or two. Especially when you consider the A's are 12-4 against Houston this year, or maybe 13-4, have to check...
9/6/2013 4:55:11 PM
A's dont really have that 'WC Ace' since Bartolo has fallen off recently. Really would like to eek it out over TEX. Anderson hasn't looked like it since his return, and honestly didn't look very good to start the year before his injury either. As long as TB and PIT have some playoff-hungry fight left in them vs. TEX coming up next week, we're still looking good. Just need them to lose more than we do down the stretch
9/6/2013 8:55:32 PM
Will take 15-4 against the Astros, although it could've easily been 17-2 or 18-3.Hoping TEX falls apart and we keep up the momentum at MIN and during the final road stretch
9/9/2013 12:40:08 AM
SEA and LAA have been playing well all of a sudden. We just need to avoid a sweep @TEX and say alive throughout the crapshoot.
9/9/2013 9:53:33 AM
19 games left.ESPN has us going 11-9 and winding up with 94 wins.Based on TEX's schedule, I can't really see them going 14-5, which is what they'd need to do to overtake the lead if we were to go 9-11. Will be very interesting to see how this shakes out.
9/10/2013 4:37:59 PM
Willingham continues to haunt us - last year the A's were winning these 1 run games decided in the final frames.
9/10/2013 11:11:37 PM
It'll be OK. TEX just lost a one run game at home
9/10/2013 11:31:43 PM
I probably watch 20-25 innings a week and I swear I see all the bullpen meltdowns even though the bullpen is rock solid. It feels like I've seen all of Doolittle's, Cook's, and especially Balfour's meltdowns. That was a tough game to lose. But as Fosse said, those were not cheap homeruns. Cespedez's running blunder in the 8th turned out to be huge. I'd like to have a 3 game lead when Texas and Oak square off. Puts a lot of pressure on them.
9/11/2013 11:10:45 AM
TEX just got swept, so if we win tonight and tomorrow it could easily be a 3-4 game lead when we play them.
9/11/2013 6:26:43 PM
uh 16-1 save some runs for tomorrow!
9/11/2013 10:36:16 PM
whta a crazy game. nice to have 3games on TEX
9/11/2013 11:30:59 PM
seems like lately after a tough loss, the offense wakes up and they play with fire. plz to win the next 2 series.
