wow, dude. literally the biggest upset in primary and you think it's not a big deal? lmao
3/9/2016 10:59:20 PM
if/when he wins OH, PA, FL, NY, CA, etc I will read a lot more into it. Calling it an "upset" doesn't change the total delegate count, but I guess if it makes you feel better, congratulations?
3/9/2016 11:01:47 PM
every legitimate publication has called it historical and a turning point in this election, including 538as i've been saying, the more people see bernie, the more they like him. the numbers will continue to reflect what happened in michigan.i'm convinced you actually want hillary to win at this point
3/9/2016 11:03:36 PM
it's a sample size of ONE. it may be indicative of a fundamental shift, or it could have simply been faulty polling. really hard to say right now, but I personally don't see it as that big of a deal. i get that you want me to love Bernie as much as you do, but I don't.
3/9/2016 11:06:03 PM
Yeah he "won" Michigan, but delegate wise it's essentially a tie.

do you really need someone to google how historical of an upset it was? that headline has been everywhere, how did you miss it?

A huge upset victory is historical in terms of polling data and predictions, does not necessarily mean anything regarding the actual election. When asked if this makes a big difference in terms of anything at all, Nate Silver's answer was "I don't think so"
3/10/2016 11:33:48 AM
it changes thingas because some of the states where Clinton was polling ahead are now in question
3/10/2016 11:43:23 AM
Are they? Do you have a crystal ball that we don't? ONE is a pretty small sample size. I mean it's bigger than zero, but still.
3/10/2016 11:48:28 AM
Michigan isn't the first time, just the worst, it shows that they need to fix their demographic assumptions which calls other states into questions where clinton is polling with a similar lead
3/10/2016 12:08:22 PM
That's at least partly true. The Clinton margins of victory have been pretty far off. Open primary states are always going to be hard to predict, but it looks like the pollsters haven't been able to correctly predict the demographics of the people voting in the primaries.
3/10/2016 5:15:30 PM
To be fair, they were way off in all of the southern states as well. Bernie was never down by 50 to 70 in a poll.
3/10/2016 7:36:36 PM
3/11/2016 11:46:27 AM
likely because there was a growing consensus that Bernie was going to win those three states
3/11/2016 12:22:11 PM
nah the media narrative was that he "needed" to win those states
3/11/2016 12:23:58 PM
calling it a narrative is disingenuous. if anything, the results to date have showed that he absolutely needed to win those states, and by a large margin.

I'm just pointing out the perpetual Hillary spin machine.Clinton Supporters: Bernie can't win in November!Everyone else: The polls are showing he is more electable than Hillary against every republican candidate.Clinton Supporters: But look at how many states she's won!Everyone else: All of those states will vote republican in November. And state "wins" don't matter, only delegates.Clinton Supporters: Oh? Well look at the polling for upcoming states!Everyone else: Bernie was down in the polls in Colorado, Oklahoma, and Nebraska...then he won.Clinton Supporters: But Bernie can't win in big states that matter! See what happened in Massachusetts?Everyone else: Except Bernie just won Michigan and is looking strong in the midwest.Clinton Supporters: Well in that case, individual state "wins" don't matter.
3/11/2016 2:05:20 PM
Clinton needs to answer what she will do if indicted, that is something that voters deserve to know
3/11/2016 2:36:12 PM
But only after all of the republican candidates have done the same.

i just want to let you know the irony of bernie posters doing a little shit talking in a clinton thread is not lost on me. no fuck off's. no ad hominem attacks. no requesting bans.

Hillary Clinton just tried to pretend like Nancy Reagan fought against HIV/AIDS and totally ignore that the Reagan administration was inexcusably silent on the issue
3/11/2016 4:29:55 PM
I honestly don't care about the e-mails and I don't think poorly of her for Benghazi as that was a tough situation with no right answers. What I don't like is her laughing when asked serious questions, saying "I will do everything I can" without ever saying what it is she can do, and pandering to minority voters when she so obviously does not have their best interests in mind (and that's a judgement of her policies, not of her as a person).A friend of mine who works backstage at a venue where she spoke a few weeks ago told me that she has a staff person who literally sets her smile before she goes on stage. This person adjusts Hillary's face into an expression so she walks on stage looking exactly how she needs to. That's why (or one of many reasons) she feels so fake.[Edited on March 11, 2016 at 6:22 PM. Reason : -]

she apologized for the AIDs remarks and said she "misspoke".it makes sense that she wouldn't share the outrage against the reagans regarding AIDs since she didn't become a "champion" of lgbt rights until the 2000s.[Edited on March 11, 2016 at 7:54 PM. Reason : .]
3/11/2016 7:54:40 PM
^ she's far from a champion now, and she didn't support gay marriage, close to the entry point for LGBT right, until 2013.
3/11/2016 7:58:55 PM
oh fully aware here. hence the quotes.if she had actually cared about gay people in the 80s, she would not have "misspoke"
3/11/2016 7:59:55 PM
I just don't see how you abruptly change your stance on gay marriage.
3/11/2016 8:00:52 PM
well to be fair people do flip their positions. my parents flipped around the same time.the question is was it political or because she actually had a change of heart?either way, Human Rights Campaign should not have endorsed her over someone with a much longer history of support.

fuck's sake? one picture doesn't prove anything. Bernie was on the sidelines of the Clinton healthcare, because...shocker...he couldn't compromise from his ideology. he wanted single-payer and clinton knew that was an impossible ask. clinton did have a couple of meetings with sanders. and even traveled to vermont to meet with him and do some public appearances. this politico article from last june should give you a better idea of how little bernie worked with clinton on healthcare. you can say he wanted to do more, but clearly their approaches were opposed to one anotherhttp://www.politico.com/story/2015/06/bernie-sanders-hillary-clinton-119082[Edited on March 12, 2016 at 9:08 PM.
