so did anyone see if/what# the CJ Leslie to Lorenzo Brown alleyoop was in the top-10 countdown on sportscenter?

Lewis is a project. Whether he turns into a failed project like Vandy is TBD

I was happy to get to go to the Stanford and St. Bonaventure games. It's so weird to see such an improved team despite glaring stuff like free throws and Howell getting fouled out...and we still won by a lot! Also, the team can definitely play some defense if they choose to so that's good to know.Lewis gets fouled as a matter of course, and the refs need to keep calling it. If he can get good at drawing attention to fouls or baiting the foul, then he's a valuable asset in spite of the other things that I'm sure he wants to improve.

Lewis has only played in 11 games. It was pretty apparent that it would take more time for him to adjust to the college game, given his size. Right now he's doing what we need him to do in spelling our other guards without completely fucking up. On the other hand, Vandy is and always has been terrible other than a few lucky games where he managed to not fuck up 3 or 4 dunks. I'm pretty optimistic that Lewis will achieve more during his time here than Vandy ever has.

This game was a really bad matchup for Lewis anyway with St. Bonaventure's big guards. Long term, Lewis has to become a very high percentage jump shooter to ever become a consistent contributor. He's always going to be smaller, slower, and weaker than just about anyone he plays against and he's not playing on a high school all star team anymore that can hide his weaknesses.

Sorry, but I think Lewis will struggle to ever become a starting PG for our team. During the St. Bonnie's game, Gottfried toyed with having Rodney play at the point. With Cat Barber coming in next year, I think he will start over Tyler. It's hard to tell right now, but it just seems like the college game is going to be too difficult for the little guy.

Lewis doesn't need to be a scoring threat to be successful here.So long as he can get more tenacious with his defense, and work on not turning the ball over, all he needs to do is distribute it. Everyone else can score.

kid needs to go to the Mick O'Donnell School of Defense

No, Lewis most definitely needs to become a good 3 point shooter to be effective.

I was one of the most down people on Lewis this offseason because he just didnt look like an ACC PG in his highlight videos and I didn't see a lot of skills that would translate to the college game. Also he looked really bad in the MCD All American game. But when he started the season not even looking like a D1 point guard I got really nervous so I'm glad to see he's coming around a little bit lately. I think he's one of those guys that will bust his ass and develop into a pretty decent player by his junior year. Which is all we really need since we have Cat Scratch Bieber on the way next year. Just hope come tournament time this year he's an asset and not a liability. I think we are smart to test purvis at PG in case Lewis can't give us productive minutes by then

^^ Sorry, I thought he was...edit: He's been a disappointment so far for a 4* Top~50 McDonald's All-American.Either way I don't wanna shit on him. If he gets some strength to fend off defenders & create a little space, he'll be much more effective with his #1 attribute: passing. Any added muscle would obviously help him on defense as well.If he gets in the weight room, he becomes an effective pg by his junior year. If he develops a decent/pretty good shot as well (free-throws & 3's), he would be much more than effective, and an ACC caliber starting pg. (No, we don't need him as a scorer, but him being a threat to score would create so many opportunities for him...plus as a pg he should get his FTs down for end-of-game situations)

He just needs to get in the weight room and improve his strength and speed. His handle and passing ability are well above average for a D-1 point guard, he just gets overwhelmed by bigger, athletic guards. His shot could use a little work as well, but he's a pretty good finisher and has a nice little floater. He's been going against bigger, athletic guards his whole AAU career...so this is nothing new...it's just a slightly higher level now. He's also not that bad on the defensive level. Yeah...he gets beat every now and then, but he's pesky and does a good job of keeping his guy in front of him. Most of the time he gets beat he's in good position, but his guy just shoots over him.

you guys talk like he hasn't on several occasions fended off larger defenders, slashedtothe basket, put up a layup against huge inside defenders or made an outlet pass to an open man for a wide open shot. the kid can ball. give him a chance before you start throwing around the disappointment

its becoming more clear to me now how you guys made ryan harrow cry

McDs AA =/= most likely to be an impact freshman.Give the kid time, he is a hard worker and will get it going as he learns the college game and develops.Anything he did this year was a bonus I just find calling him a disappointment at this time a bit crazy.

i say we slash his tires & hold his dog ransom til he posts a double double
