yay! Obama gonna be so much more effective now that he doesn't have to pander to the rightys. I love Biden but I don't think he will get nominated in 2016.

ABC took a long time, almost as long as NPR did

now I'm waiting to see which states Nate Silver called incorrectly (most likely Florida if any)

[Edited on November 6, 2012 at 11:32 PM. Reason : also Warren vs. Rubio 2016 IMO

That's a relief. Obama is bad, but Romney is worse in most ways I can think of. I like market solutions, but Romney isn't a free market guy, he just talks like one. On foreign policy and "social issues", he's insane.

In economic terms, things will be stagnant or get worse over the next term. Obama can't do much to change it, but the Democrats are going to have a hard time blaming the shitty economy from 2009-2016 on Bush. I expect to see more budget fights and obstructionism in Congress; it'll be one stopgap measure after another, but not a single structural issue will be addressed. From a federal standpoint, there is absolutely nothing to be optimistic about. I'd like to speculate that Obama was "pandering to the right" in his first term, but I don't imagine that much will change. Corporate interests paid for his re-election, and they are expecting a return on their investment.

But, uhh...weed is legal in Colorado. That's cool.

Gary Johnson is listed on the NC State Board of Elections website as having 0.99%.

Didn't he need 2% to keep Libertarians on the ballot in the future?

All the swing states except nc are leaning or went Obama.

Also, Nate had fl barely leaning Obama by like 52%, it was the closest state.

Va might be his miss if it goes Obama.

"Some networks have called the Electoral College for Barack Obama, but it will take longer before the popular vote can officially be called.

That’s because the three Pacific Coast states — California, Oregon and Washington — conduct much of their voting by mail, yielding a lag of several days to a week before all ballots are counted.

As of 11:45 p.m., however, Mr. Obama trailed Mitt Romney by only about 150,000 votes nationally, a margin he should be able to make up on the West Coast."

CNN has been doing everything within their power to make this race look close. They just showed a county by county map to show that this is a center-right country, completely ignoring those little dense blue bubbles around some of the biggest cities in the country.

Romney leads by 0.4 in Ohio!!!!!!!!

Too bad the only votes left to come in, and there are a lot of them, are all from D counties.

What conditions will allow me to say "I told you so?" This seems like a fair place in middle to judge from.

he knows he donzo. just taking one for the team at this point.

on the plus side, hopefully this loss hurts paul ryan's political career.

I always voted for Cherie Berry when I lived in NC, because I didn't want to waste paper to replace all those elevator inspection stickers.

The only thing that could possibly make this night better is if Romney decides to launch a legal attempt to challenge the election.

"It’s pretty rare to cast a ballot that qualifies as genuinely historic. So, if the trend in results late Tuesday holds up, then I and more than 1 million other Marylanders can take special satisfaction in being among the first in the nation to approve equal marriage rights for gay and lesbian couples by popular referendum."

While not all stations have called it, several have for marriage equality in Maryland and Maine (first time marriage equality has been achieved through popular vote), and Tammy Baldwin as our nation's first openly gay Senator, and the first time we've elected a President who openly supports marriage equality.
