I don't think the clean slate implies that he's giving up the Iron Man gig...just that he's starting from scratch. Maybe he'll bail on his destroyed Malibu mansion and move back to his tower in NY. That's closer to Stark Industries anyhow.

The whole movie was about how his obsession over making additional Marks was consuming him. (granted it's what let him win in the end) I didn't interpret that he's giving up being Iron Man but he would just have a single suit and stop "tinkering" incessantly.
5/8/2013 2:11:33 PM
if you "know you'll see Iron man again", what more evidence could you really need..but okay I don't care as much as you do about this stuff so you win.
5/8/2013 2:23:06 PM
Doesn't he use the Arc Reactor in his chest to power the suits? It confuses me in the movies when his suits "run out of power" and also now that he's removed the arc reactor it seems like it never really was used to power the suit.
5/8/2013 2:30:23 PM
^^jesus dude... I just wanted to see what direction he would move in ...internet tuffness in full effect. ^yeah that was confusing for me as well... Didn't seem consistent with the other movies. Why didn't he just plug in his suit to his chest when he was in podunkville nc tennessee?
5/8/2013 2:43:47 PM
All of his suits have their own independent power source now and don't require the one in his chest. Prime example: War Machine.

Doubt it.SpoilersMore likely that between Tony's hunting them and Stone's betrayal the Ten Rings were destroyed as a powerful and cohesive terror organization (kinda like AQ IRL). Mandarin/Killian is just pretending to be the powerful and influential new leader of an organization that no longer exists in a meaningful capacity./spoilers

The China premiere last picture is something big!
5/13/2013 11:38:44 AM
I thought part of this was filmed in the area, but I didn't see anything familiar
5/13/2013 11:50:49 AM
Yes, near SAS campus.
5/13/2013 12:00:04 PM
this is just my opinion, but I thought this was by far the worst Iron Man film and probably one of the weaker Marvel movies in the last 10 years. Yes there were some funny scenes but there wasn't enough action, the villains were outright generic and stupid, and the plot was just dumb.nOOb said it best with his review on the previous page

Thought I saw some NC barrier islands during the airplane scene.Where did they film:1) The scene where Iron Man crashes in the forest and that truck drives by?2) The following scenes in the small town?

What they did to the Mandarin in this movie is unforgivable.
5/13/2013 1:32:28 PM
yeah the small town was in NC... my sister was an extra in the bar scene (but i didn't see her in the final cut)
5/13/2013 1:35:10 PM
The Chinese chick in the movie is pretty hot.

Not a bad movie, the wife and I saw it over the weekend. I enjoyed the different shout-outs to the previous movies and even some characters from other series. Meeting the doctor from the first movie, the wreckage of the race car from the second movie and Brandt from the Man-Thing series. Part of the Extremis virus caused Tony to become paranoid and not able to sleep. It was nice to see them include that aspect of it with his implantation of the mini computers. They also explained part of that with the PTSD from the Avengers movie. I really liked seeing AIM involved. I couldn't remember if Killian's dad was a part of Hydra or talked about in the Captain America movie. That would have a been a nice tie-in and close to the comic books. One of the nice things in the comics is Tony has always used the suit as a shield from the outside world, much like he used drinking. It was nice to see him do that here. The same with his controlling personality. I know the reason are different, but it's nice to see the movies bring a little of that in. It was always interesting that Tony always thought he could do everything and that he started to define himself by the suit. When in reality it was always his mind that made him the super hero and not the suit and that he needed others even when he thought he didn't. So to see him ask for help from the kid and to go back to his roots of inventing was nice. It made the fight scene at the end better.About the Extremis and Mandarin aspects of the story. The Mandarin was the opposite of Tony. Magic versus Technology. Which was great in the comics, but I'm not sure how it could have been done in the movies. I would have liked to see Tony change and take the Extremis virus like in the comics to heal himself. Also Hulkbuster armor, wow!

It would be totally badass if RDJ was contracted to appear in the Guardians of the Galaxy film that's currently in development. I doubt it would happen, but it would guarantee the success of the movie. Not sure if anyone is reading the Marvel NOW reboot of GotG, but I kinda hope that's the direction that the movie takes...at least as far as the origin of Star Lord goes.
5/15/2013 11:04:51 AM
This movie was a mess. If Tony had all those suits in the basement, why didn't he call one up when Pepper had on his prototype suit? And why did he suddenly summon all those suits near the end? Could he have called them at any time? That wasn't adequately explained.RDJ is great at one-liners and plays the part well, but Tony and Pepper's relationship isn't believable at all. She's less his gf and more a coworker he flirts with and shares a bed with. And the villain was forgettable, they built up the Mandarin to be this huge menace and it turned out to be some guy trying to score military contracts. Easily the worst of the 3.

All I heard was Tony saying "Operation House Party" and suddenly 15 suits were in play. Might've missed exactly what he said before that.

i enjoyed it, but i prefer 1 & 2 over 3. and thus far it isn't my favorite blockbuster of the summer.not a comic book follower, but i understand that mandarin is supposed to be his biggest villain in the series. i didn't feel that way watching it.
6/11/2013 5:36:13 PM
Watched this on a flight yesterday. They edited out the part where people are falling out of the sky and Tony has to rescue them.
8/25/2013 12:31:01 PM
lol seriously?
8/26/2013 10:17:52 AM
Yes. Iron Man jumps out of Air Force One at altitude and is immediately hit by a truck. I felt bad for anyone seeing it for the first time.
8/26/2013 11:41:10 AM
LOL I thought that was the best part of that movieover time I take back everything I said about the movie. it's not that big of a deal. I get what they were doing
8/26/2013 4:25:48 PM
so now that ironman is done how are they going to make avengers 2? it's not like anyone is going to see that shit for hulk or captain america.
9/1/2013 12:12:51 AM
Iron Man isn't done. It says "Iron Man will return" at the end of the credits. And Avengers 2 comes out in 2015.
9/1/2013 1:20:33 AM
it's like i watch different movies than other people ...
9/1/2013 6:18:36 AM
he CLEARLY said he was done with ironman when he BLEW UP ALL OF HIS SUITS.
9/1/2013 8:24:58 AM
Spock CLEARLY died at the end of Wrath of Khan when he WALKED INTO THE REACTOR
9/1/2013 11:05:04 AM
what? that was kirk and they brought him back to life using khan's blood.
9/1/2013 11:44:40 AM
DVD was released, finally saw the movie.I was liking it a lot better than part 2 for the first 2/3rds of the movie, the last 1/3rd was a mess. My #1 problem was: ok how are Pepper and Tony going to take out Lava Guy? ... Wait, he's dead? What? When? How? Where? Why? Who?Larger explosion = pisses him offSmaller explosion = gone foreverI figured they'd try freeze him or drown him or something, especially since I was getting a big T2 vibe toward the end. Nope, a firecracker takes him out. After re-reading the last few pages of the thread, I've got to say that I disagree with there being any tension over Pepper dying at the end of the movie. At that stage you already know she got the regeneration/lava lamp blood (I guess it gives you super strength as well), she was able to process it without rejecting it, and now I'm literally on the edge of my seat wondering if she's going to die? Nope.[Edited on October 1, 2013 at 8:25 PM. Reason : -]
10/1/2013 8:21:32 PM
yeah the ending is a mess. they kind of shoehorned in all the suits at the end to appease the fanboys cause it might be the last iron man (cause RDJ is so expensive)
10/1/2013 11:26:49 PM
10/3/2013 1:27:47 AM
watched his last night. overall I enjoyed it but I wasn't as enthralled with it as parts 1 & 2.
10/23/2013 8:23:50 AM
So has anybody seen this? https://vimeo.com/129341896It's a 12 minute short basically confirming that yes, the Mandarin really does exist in the MCU, and not the Trevor Slattery Mandarin.I had no idea this existed until just now. Sorry if [old][Edited on December 28, 2017 at 4:25 PM. Reason : asd]

there a bunch of stuff out there on the 10 rings thing with all the movies.

What is interesting though is that clip appears to be an MCU production.Perhaps maybe they've talked RDJ into a fourth IM movie and this is laying the groundwork?

it's a short that came with the dvd release of thor: the dark worldsince no one bought that movie, it's relatively unseen
