He deserves some credit.

Not as much as if he'd came out in his prime and not when he's basically retired. But it's a big step.

^^ my point is that, for some reason in today's America, this IS STIL a polarizing thing. For every compliment he is getting there is a person judging and being a dick.

Like I said, maybe not on this website (despite being collectively assholes if you're on here chances are you're in the cream of the crop of intelligence in this country) but in our society there are huge cross-sections of people hating on him because of who he wants to fuck.

Wait, am I think of a different player? Cause in his prime, Collins was nothing more than a 6/6 guy even as a starter

Not clowning him on for being gay, but I am clowning on him for being Ostertag v2.0 (inb4 face calls him a bonafide superstar)

I'm not looking forward to the hundreds of gays that will come out now (since Collins has proven it's so easy) just to save their jobs and secure new fruity endorsement deals.

^^^^No, what I meant was Collins is being treated by the media like what he's doing is the same as what Jackie Robinson did. Like breaking the gay barrier is the same as breaking the color barrier.

But it's really not. What irritates most people (me for example) has nothing to do with the fact that he's gay. Its that I can't turn on the TV without having to listen to how great and couragous this guy is just b/c he likes penis. No one would really give a shit if it wasn't plastered on the news 24-7 and being given hero status like he refused to sit at the back of the bus or something.

Fine he gay. No one cares. Move on.

again, I'm not sure what bubble you're living in, but plenty of people care. again, read wral comments, or pack pride just to get an idea. Lots of people hate gays because they're gay. It's a fact you seem to be ignoring.

If Jason Collins said he disagrees with the heterosexual lifestyle, does that mean he hates heterosexuals?

simple question

since anyone who says they disagree with the homosexual lifestyle automatically hates gay people

I didn't make that claim. Did someone else? Are you denying that some people hate gay individuals because they're gay?

And when has a gay person ever said they disagree with the lifestyle? Not living it certainly isn't implicit disagreement.

It's a dumb, pointless question.

i'm sure some people do hate gay people

but that doesn't mean anyone who disagrees with having sex with dudes hates gay people, which seems to be the backlash that anyone gets who doesn't say "good for JC, he's a hero to all people"

No, the backlash is for anybody that feels their opinion on gays should matter more than somebody else's.

Nobody is knocking down every locker room door demanding a positive comment on Collins' decision.

exactly.

and the whole "disagreeing with the gay lifestyle" thing is just a bigoted way of saying that you think it's gross/wrong. i mean at least own up to it if you feel that way.

this dude is an NBA player. not much "gay lifestyle" to talk about since he was in the closet and few people knew about it.

i'm just painting it with the same brush bigots paint with:

all gays are promiscuous, effeminate, flamboyant, hedonistic, etc.

Unless they are retardedly thinking that two dudes who happen to bone eachother behind closed doors constitutes a "lifestyle".

the thread on packpride makes me embarrassed to have a degree from the same university as some of those fools

i guess you could say that about a lot of threads on packpride, but seriously it amazes me that college-educated people are typing out some of the shit they're typing...

http://www.yardbarker.com/nba/articles/tim_duncans_soon_to_be_ex_wife_believes_hes_a_bisexual/14031410

Quote :
"We know that Tim Duncan is getting a divorce from his wife, after hiring a private investigator to follow around his soon-to-be ex wife Amy's behavior, but according to a source, the real reason why Amy couldn't wait to get a divorce from Tim was because of his relationship with another man.

Apparently, Duncan has a bromance with an man [unknown at the moment] who lived with Duncan during his time at Wake Forest, four years after college, and even living with Tim and Amy during their first two-years of marriage.

The only way the unknown man moved out on his own was due to Tim purchasing a condo for his friend.

It may explain why Tim placed a gag order on Amy, as the couple is still going through divorce proceedings.

The source also claims that Tim was treated like a b*tch by Amy throughout their marriage because she knew he was "messing around" with his best friend.

However, Tim knows that Amy was cheating on him, but he's willing to give her whatever she wants, because he doesn't want Amy to tell the world that he's bisexual."

seems credible enough
