^^That and unless it was some kind of prequel, Wash couldn't be in it And if it were a prequel, Simon and River wouldn't be in it
9/28/2012 9:10:56 AM
They could always have it take place between the show and the movie. That's what the comics did.
9/28/2012 9:54:36 PM
so anyone watch this shitshow last night? i watched for about 5 minutes, enough to get disgusted with teen girl hero's little hissy-fit over leaving the rebel hideout before they got attacked. i think i'm officially done.
10/2/2012 8:31:07 AM
Guess who got to see her childrens picture on the Iphone last night?
10/2/2012 8:46:35 AM
someone is still watching this?
10/2/2012 8:47:57 AM
^^oh christ, are you serious? i may have to watch just to see that terrible part before condemning this show for good.
10/2/2012 8:52:29 AM
I watched it this morning out of boredom and was surprised that each episode seems to be worse than the one before...
10/2/2012 9:57:48 AM
I look at it differently. Each episode is better than the next!
10/2/2012 9:58:55 AM
normally im glass half full kinda guy, but not with this show it seems
10/2/2012 10:24:09 AM
I found that bridge they blew up from Google Earth. Its on Castle Hayne Road.
10/2/2012 11:31:53 AM
ha, is it the one that Laney students jump from?
10/2/2012 11:48:35 AM
Quite possibly. My coworker who grew up down there went to Hoggard, so he isn't sure.
10/2/2012 12:16:08 PM
I'm kind of liking the slow revelation of the Miles/Monroe backstory. I also liked Michael Mosley in this episode...not the dialogue but he sold the character pretty well.Rest of the show blows chunks. It would be better if it was just about the military state and they left out the power arc.
10/2/2012 1:02:58 PM
Yea so far the eye-candy is just that. A vapid little nothing character that looks pretty. At least Miles has had character development to some extent. The others have really done nothing to progress at all either. So far the power arc is sucking screen time away from the interesting story.[Edited on October 2, 2012 at 2:03 PM. Reason : ]
10/2/2012 2:02:53 PM
I'm about done with this show too, but I did enjoy the "The Stand" reference
10/2/2012 3:24:05 PM
^ i watched it last night, and also heard the Stu Redman line, and wasn't sure if it was intentional or not, given how bad the writing has been.[Edited on October 3, 2012 at 12:36 PM. Reason : .]
10/3/2012 12:35:58 PM
I find it strange they've already shown the electricity working.
10/3/2012 12:38:27 PM
nah it was intentional but still pretty dumb. if youre going to give someone an alias you probably dont want to use one form a major book/movie a lot of people have seen/read
10/3/2012 2:20:37 PM
NBC has already extended it from 13 to 22 episodes. Guess it's not doing too bad in the ratings. I think it's getting a bit better but definitely can't imagine it getting a 2nd season.
10/3/2012 2:41:00 PM
So they've got Juliet and Jacob on there. Who is the next Lost character to show up? I'm thinking Ben! I would have said John Locke (since it would be another J character) but he's already on that new 666 show.
10/3/2012 2:44:04 PM
10/3/2012 3:19:29 PM
Ben has his own show on CBS which is hell of a lot better than this mess of a show.
10/3/2012 4:17:19 PM
I didn't even catch Jacob until I read this thread. Don't know how I missed recognizing him.My question is, why did the militia use musket-type rifles? Why not get their own machine guns and things? Are they THAT hard to find? And I didn't like how the pendant just randomly turned on all of a sudden... I thought the guy was going to pull on it and make it click.. isn't that how the other one worked?
10/3/2012 4:24:58 PM
Machine guns use bullets/casings etc that already contain their own gunpowder and stuff. The casings alone would require refined brass and probably machining to construct. On top of that, if you were somehow making a bullet from scratch it would have to be perfectly aerodynamic to fly straight. If you messed up with the construction, it could just explode in the gun. With the muskets they just add the gunpowder separately and put in what I would assume is a metal ball. All they need to make that is a fire and some kind of mold. Jacob talked about it briefly before executing that one guy.Now I don't know where they got the muskets from. Except for antiques there wouldn't be any lying around and the only people with enough knowledge to make them would be folks with an extremely specialized hobby, and even then, getting the parts to make it would be difficult.
10/3/2012 4:32:40 PM
10/3/2012 4:54:15 PM
The show misses the mark pretty badly on all aspects of science and technology. I can't imagine any plot making up for this. It's almost like what would happen if you asked an 8 year old to come up with a plot.I'm pretty forgiving, so i'll keep watching, maybe they have an explanation that makes sense...
10/3/2012 4:58:02 PM
I guess my point is, I find it hard to believe that they had an easier time finding muskets than shotguns/rifles/etc... that are in every gun shop, sporting goods store, etc......
10/3/2012 5:18:00 PM
well, if the primer supplies ran out, then they wouldn't have much choice
10/3/2012 5:53:36 PM
Picked up for a full season
10/3/2012 7:58:02 PM
i also forgot to mention that if they're using civil war era rifles, then they're still gonna need percussion caps. i guess they could be using flintlock muskets, which are very unreliable.
10/3/2012 8:55:01 PM
Well you obviously know a lot more about it than me, but I guess my main point was that producing bullets on a mass scale (enough to provide ammo for an entire army) would be difficult.
10/4/2012 9:31:13 AM
^Yea but casting damn metal balls is a piece of cake. You can do that over a campfire. And if a few of these guys were in a re-enactment group, it would not be inconceivable to run up on some guys with a nice stash of Civil War area rifles. It looked like they were using percussion caps, so they were not doing flintlocks. But I did have an issue with the ammo explanation, because until primers and powder run out, you can just keep reloading. My brother reloads .38 S for my pistol and a few other rounds as well, and I would imagine that trade would survive for quite a long time.My biggest issue with that scene was the tactics of Jacob. He's got like 50-100 guys attacking a restaurant, and as they begin to advance, a lone gunman on the rooftop starts picking them off. Ok, so they fall back for a second. But at this point, Jacob begins a siege where he throws his men out one at a time to be picked off. For fucks sake you have a HUGE numerical superiority and you don't have much ground to cover. Charge the building and get up against it, at which point the guy with the single shot sniper rifle can't hit you and you storm the place. Additionally once you kill the sniper and seize his weapon, you can also take the rest of the ammo that he had, which had been explained in that previous scene how precious it was.
10/4/2012 11:16:20 AM
simple percussion caps would not require any machining or advanced technology. just brass and an unstable material that you can get from the earth.
10/4/2012 11:28:20 AM
someone give us the scoop on how terrible last night's episode was.
10/9/2012 8:23:36 AM
I only caught the last 20 minutes or so last night but it was pretty horrible. Something about a guy with a pack of dogs chasing them....the whole senario that occured was so stupid its hard to explain. the only highlight was that blondie died, which is fine with me because she was the most annoying one, imo.
10/9/2012 4:48:18 PM
^The outro from last week implied SOMEONE was going to die, and since she was the only one with nothing else to lose I figured it would be her.
10/10/2012 6:16:00 PM
ok, i can't grin and bear the terrible writing and worse acting any longer
10/10/2012 9:27:47 PM
So one thing bothered me during last night's episode. Not really any major spoilers here, but giving you a tad bit of a heads up.***Spoiler Conversation***So the heads of the militia bring in Juliet from Lost. The two heads of the militia think she knows something that would obviously give them a GREAT strategical advantage and in theory would give them the keys to the castle. So they wait 5+ years to all of a sudden go after her husband and children? They wait 5+ years to start torturing her? They get her a message to come to their camp and not just go after her husband who had all the important information?********I really want to like this show, but it's losing me and making me just take too many leaps here.
10/11/2012 8:20:23 AM
Can't lie, Miles still intrigues me. Rest of the show is absolute shit and I hope the other characters all get picked off Hunger Games style and then the show could be only about Miles and Monroe.Oh, and Charlie's teeth are too white.
10/11/2012 2:31:23 PM
^me too. I just watched last weeks episode and the whole thing was shit until the very end. I'll keep watching for now
10/13/2012 9:00:12 PM
I think Miles could be interesting, but honestly i'm only watching this show still to marvel how awful it is.What kills me about Miles is that he just could not give a shit. I hate characters that are written like they'd rather not be there. Absolutely ridiculous. And him going from general and #2 man of the Republic to some guy tending bar in chicago...come on, man.

I was hoping there would be posts ripping apart the gaping plot holes and inconsistencies for the episode last night by now (reading the tdub critiques is my favorite part of this show!)
10/16/2012 11:30:53 AM
i think the numbers of watchers on tdub is dwindling. but i have to admit, i still come here to read what people have to say about the bullshit that is this show
10/16/2012 12:20:05 PM
haven't watched since my last post. any reason not to delete this on my DVR?
10/16/2012 12:28:46 PM
there is a train now.
10/16/2012 12:30:56 PM
______ is the ______ of _______ (no spoilers)
10/16/2012 2:08:02 PM
i actually thought last night's episode was pretty decent.. a lot better than the other ones
10/16/2012 7:35:12 PM
How come there's a train, and not 100 trains? or 1,000? And how come steam powered engines work, but gasoline powered (pre-electronic) cars don't? Sure, no doubt there would be a period of chaos and rampant killing if something like this happened, but there was a nationwide infrastructure of trains 150 years ago, before electricity (or at least before our dependance on it) so it's just absurd to think that there wouldn't be one again. Are we just supposed to believe that nobody thought to use a steam powered vehicle until this one guy thought of it 15 years later?]
10/16/2012 7:47:41 PM
lol I was so close! I predicted Ben Linus from Lost would show up but we got Frank Lapidus instead. I should at least get partial credit though, Lapidus sounds a little like Linus. They should have just cast Walt to play Jason.
