Everyone down here really wants Johnson because he's a local kid and played here. Sounds like a horrible hire to me (Lutz would be a phenomenal hire)...but the locals usually get what they want down here.

Fucking everyone is turning down the CofC job. Hope we don't lose our assistant coach right now.

IIRC, he kept getting paid from UNCC as long as he didn't take a head coaching job. When did/does that expire? I always assumed we'd loose him as soon as that bank ran out.

Still don't understand why everyone is sweatin' Lutz leaving. Isn't he our defensive coach? And doesn't our defense suck?

Lutz has been a solid recruiter for us and some fear him leaving would hurt with some of the guys we're recruiting for '15 and '16.

Quote :
"If the right opportunity arises, Lutz would like to become a head coach again, but he's excited to continue working with the Wolfpack after finishing as the runner-up in a search that ended with the College of Charleston hiring 37-year-old Clemson assistant Earl Grant on Sept. 2.
"I'm very fortunate to be in this situation," Lutz says. "I love my role at N.C. State. I really do. I love working for Mark (Gottfried). I love the passion of Wolfpack fans. To be involved with a program at the highest level in the ACC, which we think is the best league in the country, all those things are very appealing.""

Quote :
""I truly love and enjoy what I'm doing," he says. "As long as I'm valued for what we're doing at N.C. State, it's very attractive for me to stay and satisfying. I don't feel frustrated at all. I really don't.""

Terrible defense last night. All wake did was kick it to someone on the post and our whole team would crash and leave multiple guys wide open for threes. Come on Lutz.

Lol, if pulling your pants down and getting assraped is good defense, he is the defensive guru our program does not deserve.

Was he referring to our game today? Or Gottfried in general?

If this thread weren't defunct, I would negate Lutz a 1000 credibility points

Interesting interview, I would've thought there would be bad blood with Lutz. Am I crazy or wasn't he essentially demoted during last season? The article said he was assistant HC last season but I could've sworn he basically got pushed to the side and given some laughable title. So then he gets fired, really surprised that he talks so positively about us and in particular Gott.

Honestly I think he would make a good HC and have always thought that other than the fact that we would need someone recruiting for him

He basically had that with MFG.

Lutz did the pregame, scouting, defensive assignments etc.

He got into a spat with MFG, got moved to a desk and not D league.

He won't coach here, sorry Bobby

He was demoted after, not during the season.

I mean... everyone keeps calling it a demotion but he got the same treatment Wittenberg did. They gave him a job and paid him anyway while he looked for a new coaching job. Seems like he'd be great full not upset.

I mean we were 160th last year in defense and averaged 130th while lutz was here. Maybe the spat was "you're here to make us better defensively and we're 130th in the nation."

Let's be honest, Bobby Lutz just rode the coattails of a healthy Nard Dog.
