I am fucking PISSED

I have been eating Special K Protein Plus cereal because it has very low carbs and sugars for a cereal...

Well, because of "consumer research," they have changed the formula, almost quadrupling the amount of sugar and decreasing the fiber by almost half. They did it because consumers said "it tastes better"

jesus fucking christ.

people didn't buy this cereal primarily because of the taste. They bought it because of the low amount of sugar and carbs (yes i know it's cereal, but before the numbers really weren't that bad.)

Old nutrition info:
Calories: 100
Fat: 3g
Total Carb: 14g
Fiber: 5g
Sugars: 2g
Protein: 10g

New nutrition info:
Calories: 120 (+20)
Fat: 1g (-2)
Total Carb: 19g (+5)
Fiber: 3g (-2)
Sugars: 7g (+5)
Protein: 10g (same)

I wrote a letter to Kellogg's and took a new product survey about their changes.

probably won't do a damn bit of good though.

Response to my letters...

Quote :
""Justin,

Thank you for your comments regarding Kellogg's® Special K® Low Carb Lifestyle Protein Plus cereal. I’m glad to hear you buy them all the time, thank you. We are sorry you did not enjoy the reformulated product.

While Special K Protein Plus has been popular with many individuals since it was introduced in 2004, over the years we received feedback from consumers indicating a desire to further enhance the taste. Specifically, consumers found the cereal’s flavor too strong and bitter-tasting.

Taste plays an important role in nutrient-dense foods so that people will eat them and get the nutrition they provide. With that in mind, our development team worked to improve the taste of the cereal, while still keeping its nutritional benefits, balancing high levels of protein with a good source of fiber.

We conduct extensive tests to determine consumer acceptance before reformulating products. Tests on thi s reformulated product showed that most consumers preferred the new product to the old. However, we realize that dietary preferences differ and can certainly understand your feelings.

We appreciate your comments and will share them with our nutrition team. Thank you again for sharing your thoughts!

Sincerely,

Ruben R.

I need to get the recipe from my grandmother. I used to eat it a lot for any meal of the day during the summers.
