^^ To me those people are just sending the message that they think that college football is more important than potentially preventing child rape. That whole university needs to reexamine their priorities.\/ True. I'm sure the exact same thing could play out on any campus with a storied athletic program.[Edited on November 9, 2011 at 7:35 AM. The really sad thing is ^ that's true not only with PSU but with a lot of college sports teams.

This Matt Millen rant on SC is hilarious, it's like an SNL skit. He's talking 100% in platitudes without actually saying anything -- YOU KNOW HOW I FEEL, THIS IS AMERICA LAST TIME I CHECKED -- and then just starts crying.

^^ haven't watched sportscenter...is his rant "LAST TIME I CHECKED THIS IS AMERICA...AND WE DON'T STAND BY WHILE LIL' BOYS GET RAPED!!" or is it "LAST TIME I CHECKED THIS IS AMERICA...AND JOE PA ISN'T GUILTY UNTIL PROVEN IN COURT!!!" would be curious to know, Millen is always hard to predict!

There's a get off my lawn joke there somewhere
11/9/2011 9:12:42 AM
^^ actually it was "this is america and i can fill up a 53-man roster entirely with wide receivers if i want"
11/9/2011 9:34:47 AM
damn man, I bet Joepa wouldnt have thought he would go down like this in a million years. People invading your front yard to snap pictures of you, shit

you think this got covered up twice w/o paterno so much as hearing about it?
11/9/2011 12:00:09 PM
^.One of the things that Paterno is a legend for is his eerie knowledge of everything that went down in state college, PA. So I question any claimed ignorance of what his close, longtime friend was up to.
11/9/2011 12:07:42 PM
oh i see, we're making up facts nowquestioning what he knew is one thing, condemning him for things we're making up because we watch a lot of law & order SVU is anotherfuck evidence, a revered person is always some kind of secret villain, just ask tutuola!!1[Edited on November 9, 2011 at 12:13 PM. you do realize you're defending the indefensible here?]
11/9/2011 12:22:58 PM
^ i am quite impressed with your 100% knowledge of this entire case. really it's astounding.
11/9/2011 12:23:34 PM
^^ What am I defending, Mr. Insinuation?]
11/9/2011 12:24:21 PM
you're defending pleading ignorance to RAPE.^^ i'm quite impressed w/ your awareness of the world around you in general.
11/9/2011 12:25:11 PM
I was unaware that Paterno knew about the rape. What inside information do you have? I'm also still waiting to hear your inside scoop on all the cover ups.]
11/9/2011 12:26:17 PM
The police launched a 6-week investigation in 1998. It culminated with Sandusky apologizing to the mother of the boy he showered with, while police listened on. The AD and chief of campus police had intimate knowledge of the investigation. Do you really believe that Joe Paterno was completely in the dark on the whole thing? Really? That doesn't even touch on the 2002 incident, where he conveniently ran straight to the 2 men who covered up the 1998 case. JoePa needs to go. Not at the end of the season. Not next week. Now.
11/9/2011 12:26:28 PM
i wrote that when i didn't have all the details, and i said that. wow someone admitting to being wrong on tdub. we should make a note of this.[Edited on November 9, 2011 at 12:29 PM. Reason : .]
11/9/2011 12:26:55 PM
As I said before:
11/9/2011 12:28:02 PM
no please, say more about how i must have magical inside information like we're talking about reggie bush getting money from an agent.we are not talking about ncaa rules. we are talking about serious, life-ruining felonies.
11/9/2011 12:28:46 PM
So it's OK to make shit up as long as we're "talking about serious, life-ruining felonies"?]
11/9/2011 12:30:38 PM
So the grad assistant and his dad didn't tell Paterno anything? That right there is enough. If I were Paterno I'd wonder why the guy wasn't being led out in cuffs. That day, a day later, a week later, a month later, years later... the guy was still around. Gotta pick up a phone at some point because if you don't your an accessory.I guess the Paterno defenders will try to claim that the grad assistant and his dad didn't get into specifics or that they were extremely vague. I don't know how vague you'd have to be for Paterno to not take it serious... but take it just serious enough to report to his boss?Yes, this is pure speculation here, but given the reaction by the administration in allowing this to go on for over a decade and the mentality of the mob lined up in front of Paterno's house I'd go so far as saying that Paterno knew everything and everyone surrounding him is more than willing to take the bullet for him if it means preserving the program. Pure speculation, but that's one perception that this whole affair is creating.[Edited on November 9, 2011 at 12:33 PM. Reason : -]

11/9/2011 12:35:47 PM
Yea. Effective AFTER the season. The board should tell him to take a hike today.
11/9/2011 12:37:12 PM
^^ You're drawing your own dots, not connecting them.]
11/9/2011 12:37:45 PM
^^ right, good point.^ what? here are the two dots: joepa has been in charge of penn state football since the 60s. joepa's defensive coordinator was caught three times raping young boys. i didn't make up either of those dots. all i did was connect them.
11/9/2011 12:44:14 PM
i'm waiting for Paterno to fill his house up with balloons and fly away
11/9/2011 12:45:11 PM
^^You: Paterno knew Sandusky was fucking little boys all over town.Me: Well, I don't know. The grand jury and current investigation haven't found anything so far to suggest he did. You: He's JoePa! He's omniscent!Me: That's a helluva connection, Brownie!^ lol]
11/9/2011 12:49:29 PM
I'm glad he finally publicly addressed it, and he said everything he needed to, but Paterno needs to step down immediately. Everyone needs to know that these events are bigger and more important than his legendary football career.
