Had a backpack with my shaving kit in it & some scissors. Scissors weren't mentioned but my aftershave had to be tossed

My coworker left his m4 mags in his backpack, forgot they were there. I was promptly stopped because I left my multi-tool in my backpack. He laughed at me on the far side of security untill I lost the argument that I needed it and had to throw it away.

Do you guys actually put your liquids in clear bags? I just throw everything in my backpack and out of the few dozen times I've flown I've only once been called out on it and then guy didn't even make me take it out, just asked me to do it next time.

^mine is in a clear plastic thing that's part of my luggage, but I thought the point was to have it in a clear bag and out in the open for inspection... I've never taken it out and never had problems.

I mean, I would like to spend as little time as possible going through airport security so I'm going to follow their rules...regardless of whether or not I consider them a legitimate agency

ive never been called out because i always show my military id.i also have this multi tool thing that looks identical to a key. so its easy to get through even though it basically has two items that could be used as a weapon.they never see it because they dont look hard at it.as long as u put some of those items close to other metal stuff and tape it together. it wont get checked because it wont look like a weapon on the scan.

But you have been called out for double posting.Mil ID. Thats no way to decide if someone is not a terrorist. Army Maj Nidal Malik Hasan.

now we have to turn on our phones for securityif someone wanted to make a bomb an electronic decide, why not just put it in a laptop. if you have that kind of technical capability it seems trivial to make the laptop appear to boot up.or, alternatively, why even mess with that? a lithium-ion contains a lot of energy, certainly enough to start a very hot fire.
