I dont like buying food here, as soon as you buy something, its expired, they need to put some preservatives or something in their food.

I just remembered I had one of their Kettle Corn Cookies around Christmas, and it was pretty awesome. I don't even like kettle corn all that much, but something about the cookies was delicious. I am not sure if that was seasonal or year-round.

Had another decent Spanish wine last night, Tempranillo:

Also tried the Citrus Glazed Chicken and Sweet Potato Frites. Fries were very good, although it took almost twice as long to cook them than was listed, just to make them a little crisp. Chicken was above average, but a little small. Glad I got the fries or the Chicken wouldn't have been enough to split between two people.

Couldn't find any mac 'n cheese or the Chicken Tikka Masala (they only had Paneer Tikka). So that was disappointing.

So I've recently started to look at the nutrition labels a little more at Trader Joes...is the majority of the frozen stuff that unhealthy?? Also grabbed some granola cereal that was really high in calories in fat grams (twice as much as Honey Nut Cheerios in a smaller serving size!).

Just had this for lunch...meh. It wasn't bad, but I would have rather had the turkey/ham/roast beef sandwiches that I usually make myself. Thought I'd give it a try and save myself a couple minutes every morning with the sandwich making. Will be going back to my deli skillz.

It really depends on what you're buying. The Indian stuff is usually decent. Anything that would be bad for you in a normal setting (mac and cheese, French fries, etc) is just as bad for you in the Trader Joe's version. I don't find the higher fat content in the granola all that surprising when you think about the ingredients in granola vs Honey Nut Cheerios.

^ I mainly meant the calories. 220 for 2/3 a cup in a granola cereal, versus 110 calories for 3/4 a cup in Honey Nut Cheerios.

Had the granola this morning and I found out why...shit was sweet as hell. It tasted pretty good, but I'll probably stick with the Cheerios when I do cereal (which isn't that often).

Calorie content is kind of related to fat content. What was the weight on the granola versus the Cheerios? I'm guessing it's also a good bit more dense.

They have a delicious lowfat version with almonds. I always go with that, or some Kashi cereal from there, which is still cheaper than the grocery store.

I guess I'll give the person I suspect did it the benefit of the doubt since he also brings in lots of TJ stuff and may have grabbed mine by accident. If it wasn't him though then I suppose it was just some uncultured swine.

I just tried the Santa Fe Chicken Wrap

that's the only non-jumbo pic I can find of it

The flavor was OK, but there were like two tiny pieces of chicken and a ton of cheese. It comes with "tomatillo salsa" which didn't really taste like tomatillo salsa to me. The salsa was not pleasant. Most likely will not purchase again.

Their raw almond butter was watery. Is raw almond butter supposed to be on the watery side? Haven't tried it before so I have nothing to compare it to.

Yes all raw nut butters tend to be runny when room temperature, because they don't have hydrogenated additives or something like palm kernel oil in them to keep them firm. Be sure to stir it really good after you open it then store it in the fridge, it won't be runny in a day.

My tip for raw nut butters is to store them in your pantry upside down. Then when you open them, all of the oil is on the bottom which makes the initial stir less messy.

^ I've been wondering about those! I'm disappointed to hear they have a lot of sugar though. I should just try freezing some coconut water and see how that is lol.
