The 1980s called, they want their shitty TV commercial back.
11/4/2011 5:36:40 PM
wow. they're still using that 12 year old internet type shit?
11/4/2011 5:39:07 PM
Another small tragedy during the death of grammar.
11/4/2011 5:41:15 PM
Any university worth a shit would be embarrassed to have high school internet typing as part of their marketing campaign. Could you imagine the rabble if a university like Harvard did something similar?
11/4/2011 5:42:19 PM
11/4/2011 5:44:19 PM

11/4/2011 5:59:18 PM
Well, there's Ke$ha, but I feel like most of her new stuff is about her getting slapped in face with as many penises as she can.I just don't think many of the Peace girls are into that.
11/4/2011 6:04:55 PM
you and i have two different opinions of Peace girls apparently
11/4/2011 9:33:43 PM
^ haha for realI always heard... If you want a wife, go to Meredith - if you want a piece, go to Peace
11/4/2011 11:11:42 PM
Well yes, my post was more in reference to Peace girls liking verginers.
11/4/2011 11:17:59 PM
oiclooking back on it... every single Peace girl I have met (except for one who went to NC State first, then transferred) were giant hoebags
11/4/2011 11:24:54 PM
lulz, I guess they now plan on making money with these "leadership academies" Tata is pushing.http://www.wcpss.net/news/2011_nov1_peace-leadership/

^ I thought people could already transfer into NCSU or UNC after two years at Wake Tech?
11/8/2011 9:25:06 AM
11/8/2011 9:26:44 AM
but now you can transfer to Peace!!!
11/8/2011 9:27:24 AM
I believe the only school in wake county to have grade 13 is Wake Early College http://healthscienceec.wcpss.net/
11/8/2011 9:33:06 AM
I do think it's funny that they're now coming out with all these "great programs" after the changeover debacle. I'm sure the Wake Tech one has been on the table for some time now but you'd think they would have announced it before the co-ed thing, not after so it looks like reactive PR
11/8/2011 9:35:44 AM
yeah, exactly. What I don't understand is WHY didn't they do all this stuff (marketing, PR) BEFORE when admissions were declining? Why go co-ed and make all these changes and then all the marketing. I think they wanted to go co-ed and brought in this whole new administration to make these changes and are just using low admissions as an excuse.

For some reason I picture William Peace University's casting for the male in the commercial a lot like the search that goes on at NCCU whenever they want to publish a brochure and show off their diversity. It's like a Where's Waldo for the two white kids that are enrolled. On a more serious note, I really hate some of these "we'll automatically enroll you into a university" stuff. I mean, as I left Raleigh and started working, I was amazed at how many people around me I could never have imagined actually graduated from college but told me "yeah, I was in a program where I got automatic enrollment" or something along those lines. The days of "having a college degree" being an accomplishment in-and-of itself are no more....
11/8/2011 9:56:11 AM
There's a lot of debate right now among the higher ed community about the corporatization of the college degree. It basically started in the late-80s when a lot of the rules and regulations surrounding universities were done away with. Now you have companies making billions of dollars off giving people degrees. In my opinion all it does is diminish the worth of the degrees in the first place.

^^ Naw, marketing definitely has its place in the university setting. For more well-known universities the marketing tends to be much more subtle so you don't even know it's going on. But you better believe Yale, Duke, Stanford, Harvard, etc have recruitment departments working on making sure people still know they're hot shit.
12/19/2011 2:37:37 PM
12/19/2011 3:48:13 PM
Remember how Oxford caught shit when they dropped the Oxford comma a few months back? Why was there not a larger outcry over this?
